ahhh, Fiddlesticks!!! UPDATE: Knocking noise?
swiftkid replied to Jim Bowen's topic in General Car Chat
phew! close call, well thats the first thing i check every time. I've had the wheel come loose on me twice and my mate actually lose a wheel coming off on a slip road. By the way, the order of the HT leads are actually labelled on the coil and the ht lead holders, assuming you have a vr6 -
get one second hand, I just got one for £25 inc p+p. one thing i would ask though is, are you sure its the master and not the slave?

check your wheel bolts are tight first off, secondly jack it up and give your wheel a spin see if there is a grinding noise, also give it a wobble and see if there is any noticeable movement -
very true, the wheel nuts are made that size and length for a reason. a wheel is designed to sit on the hub with the wheel bolts actually only holding it in position, they are not there to take the strain. if you add spacers you take the wheel off the hub and give the job of strain to the wheel bolts

i have good old bubble tyres on original speedlines... no kerbing for me :D -
longer wheels bolts a must, i ran some wheel spacers (the crappy halfords jobbies) just because my coils were too close to the wheel and needed some that day. was driving along one day and had some severe steering wheel wobble so pulled over and one wheel bolt was missing and 2 were loose. i would definately advise going for some hubcentric ones as well, otherwise wheels bearings will start to die if the wheel isn't sat properly

was followed by a tidy black rado yesterday night in hull, looked nice lowered on some black centre wheels i think
-
well the fluid isn't pressurised so i wouldn't have thought it would be shooting out as long as you don't press the pedal.
-
can you not just get some form of molegrips (with some protection so not to damage them) on the brake hoses, that will stop the fluid from moving. Or just crimp the brake lines seeing as your re-doing them
-
just an FYI, the VR6's have widetrack, meaning that they will sit differently to the valvers/g60's. Im pretty sure you need to do a bit of pulling and rolling arches to get borbets on a VR6 and thats without adding adapters as well.

My apologies for starting another thread as there are plenty out there but i havn't found my answer exactly and im hoping to get a straight answer. Basically i've been running my VR (latest of late spec) for about a month now and it seems to like to judder slightly when cruising at around 2.5-3k, now my first thoughts were ht leads, coil or maf. Reading up on things, it appears the MAF could and most probably is a problem so i unplugged it while it was on and nothing happened which i thought straight away, its a bit dead. Read more into it and apparently the later MAF's won't change anything if you unplug on idle but will when you rev it up, which i did and still no change in the running. This then lead me to believe that the ECU has adapted to the MAF not working. So i thought one last ditched attempt would be to reset the ecu, which again made no difference. Now am i right in thinking that the MAF has in fact, died or is my information incorrect and the there is another way to check if the MAF has died?

im at work so its only a quick one

HELP - fuel leak from rear und & searching not helping......
swiftkid replied to g0ldf1ng3r's topic in Engine Bay
what do you mean clips? the clips that hold on the fuel filter housing are ridiculous, almost as if they are designed to break to get the thing off to change the filter. as for the fuel filter pipe clips i just used jubilee clips -
HELP - fuel leak from rear und & searching not helping......
swiftkid replied to g0ldf1ng3r's topic in Engine Bay
if its in a plastic housing with 2 screws, one at front one at back its the fuel filter. mine was leaking as well, i replaced the filter and stuck some jubilee clips on and it sorted the leak. hey ho presto... no more leak! -
on my journey from devon to hull i spotted a silver rado going opposite direction on motorway, cant remember where as i was tired. waved out my sunroof. also in devon a dark blue/black on smugglers haven campsite (what a poohole), slammed on black centre wheels, smoothed tailgate plinth also red rado, was raining heavily so couldn't see what it was, on way to plymouth.

why does it happen when u really need her......
swiftkid replied to g0ldf1ng3r's topic in General Car Chat
well my last car sounded exactly the same but this one... i have just done 1080 miles from hull to devon and surround area back to hull and it broke down less than 5 miles from home!!! i hate breaking down but its not too expensive fix *touch wood* so im quite impressed -
just had a thought, your car would be abslutely perfect for these wheels http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.p ... =0&start=0 seeing as you have had the rear flared the offset would probably be spot on!

Yes but isn't the factory over a mile long?
-
Gwerks are £545 for the basics at the moment and £631 for the inox-line, the inox being better because the seats are made of better materials and less chance of seizing if i recall correctly http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.p ... pic=238717

Gwerks, they have a sale on at the moment... like me you have until friday to order them! going for £630 i think for the good v1's

Right, mine has recently done something similar to this. Firstly if you look out the exhaust is it chucking white smoke out? Is the mpg horrendously bad? With mine, an injector was stuck open causing it to flood the cylinder and run on 4/5 cylinders. If you take the inlet off etc, take the injectors out and rest them somewhere you can see them firing (obviously put some wrag down or be careful when removing and installing injectors, you don't want to wreck the seals) and then put it in the ignition position, see if any of the injectors are firing, if one is constantly firing theres your problem. If this happens try then unplugging the injector and try it again to see if its electrical or mechanical. there are other options to check but theres one for starters

I have just used palletways (www.palletways.com) to post an engine with a huge box of wiring, cost me £46 all in. service was spot on, no messing about either! rang up in the morning, they picked it up in the afternoon

Got it sorted now, used a company called palletways, £46 all in, thought that was fantastic!
