AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! :bad-words: I hate insurance companies with a passion, what exactly do they do... really? I've just rang up adrian flux (my insurance) to get a quote to change my policy from my 1.3 8v suzuki swift to my corrado vr6... simple enough task. but noo, that would be sensible to just swap policies and continue my policy. I have to cancel my existing insurance policy which runs out in september so lose this years no claims and begin with yet another years fee for insurance. so that means i've wasted a full years insurance money on a complete load of w***kers in my opinion. I was hoping seeing as i have 3 months left to transfer my policy across onto a fully comp so i can get a new windscreen, but even though i have 4 years no claims and am 22 they still want over 1k for fully comp. so i have to shell out £460 plus their admin fee of £20 (why?! is that not their job?! pay them to do admin work and then additional cost for admin work???) plus £400 on a windscreen. how can this be fair? pick a random number out the air, make their own rules blah blah blah. people rant on about petrol costs being high, what about insurance!!!

Ahh sorry, just read the 16v title... doh

I have a KR engine you can pilfer parts from. I've got 2 full sets of tappets (maybe worth buying new), engine mount i think i have, alternator i have but im not sure if it actually works (i have one with a cracked mount and another thats been sat in my garage for god knows how long). cam bolts... are you after the ones that hold down the cams or ones that hold the cam gear on? Flywheel bolts, are they one use only? if not i might have some kicking around somewhere. Oil pump i have off the KR but to be honest id maybe advise buying new just to be safe

just to make clear, i have not had my car refused. im just sick of this government crap that gives them free reign to do whatever they like. Similar to the Planning System, i submit planning applications all the time and the idiot Planners just don't listen to a word you have to say and because the guidelines are quite vague the decision is based on personal opinion that is totally wrong!!!
-
I really hope an enthusiast does buy it, i've always loved it and i was really tempted to buy some wheels the same after seeing your car. Everyone keeps going on about this 'climate' but to be honest its just scare tactics now, its well worth that price and more!
-
Im gutted I bought a corrado as a project and now yours come for sale, i reckon you should keep hold of it for a little while longer and get the price you want, its most definately worth the asking price!!! the only colour i would buy looks fantastic! Wheels look amazing and it just looks like an amazing car!!!

nah, its not my car its the new rule that has come out. my dad works for VOSA and he told me about it the other day edit: oops wrong link, ill try find the proper one
-
Right, Im p***ed off to be the one to tell people this but thought it best to save some pennies that i make people aware. just to make clear I have not had my car failed, i was told this by my dad who works for vosa, it just annoys me how things like this just appear and we can't do anything about it The Vehicle Inspectorate, the bunch of :bad-words: that they are have changed the guidelines to suit themselves the toffee nosed farts that they are the reason for rejection on exhausts is now A silencer that is in such a condition or is of such a type that the noise emitted is clearly in excess of that which would be produced by a similar machine fitted with a standard silencer in average condition basically, if its louder than standard its a fail. I know this might seem sensible to some people but how exactly is an exhaust louder than standard actually affecting the cars roadworthyness. Why can't they just put a sensible dB limit on?! I can understand with these chavs sticking a bean can exhaust on and it rattles the road as it drives but what about those people that just want a nice note on the car. Totally ridiculous!

take brake reservoir cap off/loosen bleed nipple... insert jack handle in caliper and twist. a bit rough arse but does the job.

Depends how much money and effort you want to put in to get what you want. My friend is selling a G60 engine with Supercharger, Loom, ECU and Gearbox apparently all the bits and bobs and ancilaries for £800. Not sure if this is the going rate for one but im pretty sure you can get a G60 car for a bit more than that. i would advise you to test drive a 16v and a g60 before undertaking an engine swap as you might like the 16v more. You could consider tuning a valver as a few people have done the 16vg60 around here or turbo one, best of both worlds for you. just a thought for you
-
perhaps a daft question but how much for one delivered? £47.50?
-
is that part at the top left in the pic a rod that is meant to hook at both sides? isn't that where the exhaust gets hung underneath the rear seats/in between rear wheels?
-
there was a thread a while ago about the magical things a corrado does. like the 'secret' mfa
-
there was a thread not long ago on ed38 about a vr6 on ITB's, they were saying it was quite expensive to make as the bodies were so close together or something... i forget. im just trying to find the thread now edit: this might help if you havn't already seen it http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1518433 oh and DAMMIT!!! stupid edition with soo many spamming threads its been deleted

jamminvr6storm, i can understand where your coming from but i wouldn't say bad salesman-worthy. I have said i'll take a set of fogs and indicators from pete 100% and he has been offered more than what i have said i'll pay yet he has stuck to his word and said they are mine. im sorry but i think if you are offered the right money and a deal hasn't been agreed he's well within his right to sell them.

As davidwort said, the KR cam mod would give better top end but iirc sacrificies low down torque. my friend did the mod using KR cams in a 9a but didn't like it, really depends on the person really You don't need to swap heads because its just the cams that make the difference and they are easy to change.

the vw sharan... im in the same boat tho as they are still going to be £9.04 each from vw. i've had a quote from ford (as mentionned in my other topic) for a rod bolts at £6.50 each which is a good saving.

Anyone used Steve's breakers in Chelmsford?
swiftkid replied to vwdeviant's topic in Suppliers Forum
if this is steves vokswagen dismantlers, my mate swears by him. i've spoken to him a couple of times and hes a really helpful guy and so far my mate has bought erm... 2 engines and tonnes of parts from him and says hes first class. -
Not sure if anyone will know this, but can i use the piston rod bolts that fit into a ford galaxy 2.8 VR6 engine in my 2.9 VR6 engine, as i've said in another thread, vw want £9.04+vat a bolt and i need 12, whereas ford want £6.50+vat
-
anybody idea's where to get cheaper big end bolts?
-
either way insurance companies are going to wreak the benefit and everyone will pay for everyones mistakes but i've paid over £3k on what can only be called 'peace of mind', i think if i did have some arse wreck my car id want my car putting back to new and the insurance company can have an endless bill if needs be. I don't agree with whiplash claims like i said, i think its crap and people need shooting but this women needs it kicking into her she shouldn't drink and drive
-
Im not usually one for saying this because i f'in hate people that scam by saying "i have whiplash" or "loss of earnings" when they live 5 seconds from their keyboard job but i would ring her dry. no.1 she was drunk which deserves a good beating anyway and no.2 she crashed into your car and then drove off!!! just think if it was a parked car she hit and then drove off how gutted you would be

Ants Blue 2.0l 16v (ABF) Corrado - Heater Matrix Change :-(
swiftkid replied to antinkariba's topic in Members Gallery
the abf lump won't benefit from KR cams, its only the 9a if i recall correctly as the cams were restricted for emissions purposes. good work on the car though! -
Just been quoted £9.04 ea from AVS for the big end and main bearing bolts and theres no way in hell im paying that. They are friggin bolts for gods sake not gold dust
-
how much did you get them all for?
