Does a smaller charger pulley need a smaller drive belt?
G60Jet replied to Adam M's topic in Engine Bay
If your getting 12psi on a stock charger that hasn't been rebuilt for two years i would be supprised, are you sure its not a stage 4 charger thats loosing 2 psi? cos an standard charger on a 68mm should give you 8 psi at the manifold. The charger has always been modded as it was like it when i got my Corrado. I've just had mine rebuild by jabba sport and i pick it up on friday. I wanted PD motorsport to do it but i couldn't get it to them and back in time over xmas. -
The wiring loom for the radio has a wire from the VSS to the radio to turn the volume up as you got faster, only the Gamma radios from the factory had this feature but, the loom was the same on all models. Now some radios use the same connection for other features (apparently). and some non oem radios have the feature but use a different signal. now this casues the spoiler to fail. so you may have to pull this lead out of the ISO block, however if it doesn't work with the radio out, then the problem is else where. The Bentley Manual says the VSS is mounted on the transmission, but does not show where. May be a look on the dealers comp software can tell you where it is

Yeah Im chipped and running with about 14psi boost at the moment on a stage 4 charger. -
Too Hot I think you've pissed the point Did you try the car without a radio fitted as the wire you MAY need to remove is in the standard ISO block. If the spoiler works on the switch the then the motor is okay. contact Niko a try and change the spoiler control unit for another one. or test the wireing from unit to the spoiler motor.

i asked jabba sport this week about this very thing as i am about to change my belt. apparrently there is a platic collar that goes other the tensioner wheel to make it bigger and take up the slack. I haven't actually locked at mine yet but i will do. Im running a 68mm pully at the mo -
on the gear box but the VSS sends a signal to turn the radio up at speed!!!

VR6 minor water problems... long... boring... help! :-)

The Sender should be on the oil filter housing i think!! its small and has one wire -
Too hot Is the MFA working okay ?

The sensor is on the gear box somewhere not sure where though. you'll need a 22mm spanner/socket to get it ouy. if you have a non OEM radio check the wireing to make sure the speed senor signal cable is NOT wired to the radio.

I was down the stealers tonight in Marbella and two you the "young" mechanics were eyeing up my C and asked me if it was for sale, (which it is at the right price, like 10,000euros plus) they were shocked that i would sell it, not the price!! I could buy a tidy Vr direct from germany for less than 10k euros. But i wouldn't want to sell it unless i had another C lined up. Nigel B

What Vag part is that i know someone that is looking for one for his g60 polo conversion Nigel B

Basically the headlight loom mod uses the factory wirng harness to power 2 relays (for the dipped beam i think ) wired to the headlights, the power comes direct fromt the battery and thus brighter lights. when you turn the lights on with the switch it triggeres the relay and the lights come on. i think the main beam if still ran from the normall loom unless that is uprated to. I've not done the mod yet but will be after xmas.

if your car is pre aug 92 it will be fine without a Cat if its a late g60 like mine a cat was fitted when made but, not needed unless the car was registered after aug 92 i think. so you should be okay. if it fails i would think there is a problem somewhere.
-
But the headlights are wired in parrellel surely otherwise if one bulb goes the othergoes out too. :?

Darren i see the leads and got you email, i see you have earthed the leads to the rocker, surly they would be better earthed directly to the rocket bolts? or was it done to look neat as i looks fantastic. The outlet you have on the charger, is that your own or part of the silence box as i cant remeber what my spare charger looks like and i have an rsr outlet on my car

How can the voltage change, surely the current will drop cos of the resistance of the circuit and a cheap meter may show this a voltage drop. even a flat battery will still put out the same voltage it just lacks the current to push it out, thats why the battery goes flat. thats why a variable resistor is used for the dash lights to turn them up and down, the voltage stays the same, the currents is reduced and heat is given off.

Check your battery earth and positive connections just a thought!!
-
i've got an article that tells you how to do it somewhere, I'll have a hunt around

had to be in the Order i think , which is due to be delivered any day

Apparently its a stright swap, but you need to get them spot in otherwise they do hit the a piller at high speed

The CCGB did in deed get a good deal i've got some coming soon in purple  8)
