  1. I'm a commercial pilot in training, currently doing an aviation studies degree at kingston uni along side my flying...not cheap!
  2. That's all well and good if you could pull it off, but what about the other windows? Are you just gonna leave them normal and have just the electric windows black tinted or do all of them and get caught for them anyway? Doesn't make any sense what you're trying to achieve imho
  3. Thanks guys, So if I invested in some decent suspension, would I be able to soften it without changing anything else or would I need to roll the arches and remove the liners?
  4. Hi mate, I'm not sure what suspension I actually have, only that the previous owner mentioned them as 'Silversport' coilovers? I actually haven't seen these threads you speak of, looks like I didnt do the right search, would you happen to have a link if you've seen them recently? They are 17's yes Cheers
  5. Hi all, Been having a read through suspension threads but can't really see any that answer my question. Basically I love the height at which my car sits but hate the way it rides, its really hard suspension. My arch liners are intact and it doesn't rub, I'm guessing I should be thinking about softer suspension and rolled arches here? Is there any other alternative? What have you all used to achieve the same look as mine? I believe the lowering is in the region of 50mm all around, here is a pic: It's just so 'crashy' right now, a small drain or manhole cover and it lets out an almighty bang from time to time. Plus all the interior rattles that are intensified by the bumpy roads! I have recently done all the important bushes bar the shock mounts but they seem ok, so it shouldn't be any of this. All advice is welcome, cheers!
  6. Have a few pics for you just to show the colour appearance: Can see a hint of purple there But in most photos with light on it they just look black Colour has really grown on me, i love it!
  7. With the brake hose, I'm not entirely sure which vehicle my 288mms came from, but the banjo type hose isn't the same as the corrado. I ended up getting a pair of hoses for a mk3 vr6 which had a banjo at one end and female threaded connector at the other. This fitted perfectly in the c whereas the ones i got with the brakes didnt, the female end of the connector was too large and would not fit.
  8. http://wiki.the-corrado.net/wiring_late_electric_mirror_switches_to_early_loom.html ^This what you're looking for? Not sure about why they wouldn't move though, sounds more to be a mechanical problem? I'm guessing it was working before the swap though? I did the conversion on a friends car, but if i remember right they were never 100%, i think one was the wrong way around or something.
  9. Runs perfectly, its less of an air sort of sound, it's really hard to describe though maybe i should try and get a recording. It isn't a slow hiss or anything, quite a high frequency which is why I randomly said a small steam engine
  10. Yeah that's fair enough, I did wonder if it's a consequence of having all these induction and exhaust modifications but didn't know. It just seems weird if that's a normal noise. Maybe I should try and get a recording of it? Oh yeah almost forgot, I went over the whole vacuum system thoroughly, I can be pretty sure there are no leaks
  11. Hi all, Wondered if anyone with loud tappets like me could tell me if they get similar noises. I know I'm forever asking about engine noises but I'm hoping this one isn't major! Basically at lower revs where the induction and exhaust noises are low, if i put my foot down I get a sort of chuffing noise as engine speed increases. I can best liken it to a model steam engine going some (if anyone knows what that sounds like!), not as loud of course. I'm wondering if it is just down to the noisy tappets sending noise out of the intake when the butterfly is fully open and not restricting it. There is none of this noise when im just holding speed (say 30) and as mentioned it will flare up as soon as i put my foot down. I hear it more when I'm in a high gear keeping the revs low. The noise is originating from the front but as I can't recreate it on standstill, I can't say where exactly. It appears almost to be along with the induction noise, that's why I'm wondering if my loud tappets could be the cause. I'm in two minds though, I fail to see how tappets enclosed in the rocker cover could be making noise down the inlet tract. That is unless of course the noisy tappets are getting amplified by the valves they are attached to? As I said I'm hoping this is just tappets but worried this may be something more serious ie bottom end shells or something, although I'm not sure which point on a VR6s rev/load range do shells get noisier.
  12. Looks like it may have just been psychological. Been driving around in it lately and it seems to be ok, so I may have just imagined it was slow :(. Having said that it does seem to have more low down poke when the engine is cold and running on choke. I do look after my engine though and that is just from low RPM tests, could it be anything or is this normal?
  13. Sounds like it I'm afraid, I had a similar issue with mine. It would stop near the top or bottom of it's travel and have to be completed on the manual control. Unfortunately this is a mechanical issue, more likely to be the microswitches. To fix mine I found a replacement motor assembly on ebay, cracked it open and greased it all up, then stuck it back in. Been perfect ever since.
  14. Unfortunately my VAG-COM is clear :( no easy fixes there
  15. There was a breakers yard in Bournemouth I managed to nab both the clips from a Corrado there. The cover was also there but unfortunately I left it there, this was last year and they got rid of it in the end :(
  16. Hi mate, not sure how much light i can shed on this for you, but I can enlighten you about the side lights. On my corrado when you leave the car with the indicator in either left or right, the side lights of that particular side stay on. Not sure on the actual name of this (probably parking light or something), but if you left the stalk in a non-neutral position with everything else off this could leave the side lights on and subsequently drain the battery. Edit: Sorry just re-reading your post this may not be new to you, but to answer your question it's perfectly normal as my VR does it too.
  17. 2 questions kind of relevant:- Does anyone else have problems with the adjustment of their inpros? My lights are completely out and hard to see on dipped, and on full beam both light beams illuminate the same point centrally ahead making full beam even worse! The kerb isn't visible! Have tried adjusting them but it doesn't seem to help. I know there are 2 ways of adjusting them so maybe I haven't done it in the right order? (wound the inboard section in and the outer out?) The second question: I have electric adjusters as far as I can tell, they are connected up also. There is nothing in or around the drivers area that allows operation of the electric adjusters, am I missing something?
  18. I don't normally do this but I just wanted to say I'm with tandino on this one. Driveshafts just don't go, there must have been a hairline crack or defect from new or fatigue that caused this to go. Had you have been driving you'd have just shrugged it off and paid for the new one. I don't think, based on what you've said, that you would win this one, for that very reason. You have no way of proving how the car was driven, and the garage has plenty going for them for it not being their liability. As stated its a 15+ yo car with modifications, if anything happened to mine mechanically whilst a garage was testing it, I'd just have to accept it. There are obvious ones (crashes, engine exploding) that I would confront them about, but if somethings gonna go, its gonna go. Sorry mate
  19. Wonderful! Is there any way to run it on the cheaper one?
  20. Ok I will try that, cheers. It's a 5 pin MAF, is that the late type? I have a coilpack engine but I'm not sure how to tell, everything else (apart from the bumper strangely) is late on my 93 C.
  21. That was all you needed! :brickwall: Exactly what I did when I got the refurbed head, thought I could swap it straight over and save any off the road time... Worked out all right at the time, but looks like it was a bad idea now :bad-words:
  22. After Graeme told me about the problems he had with the engine, I did worry it might have been the quality of the head. I bought the head from a bloke near me who was selling it as a fully refurbed unit. Had trouble getting hold of a receipt of the work so it may have been a cash job. Sorry about this Bill, it looked satisfactory when myself and my brother gave it a look over. But then again you can't really tell from just looking at it, and I'm not the most experienced to do such a thing. I hope this all gets sorted for you soon
