Ok, so this week i turn 25 and so i keep getting told my insurance should drop by a fair bit. I've got a clean licence and i will have 4 years no claims . My insurance is due in about a month. From your experiences, is there usually a signficant drop in price? I use adrian flux, anyone reccommend anyone else to try? I know its lazy to not shop around but wanted to find out other peoples experience.

Had a real result yesterday, car passed MoT with only 1 advisory with light corrosion on a brake line . Didn't even have to pay for the MoT as i had to repair the testers machine while i was there (which i do for a living) and nobody could do it till monday so he done it for free in return  . So thats mine and the GF car mot'd this year all for under 60 quid  . Well happy. Now need to think about what i should treat my car to just to say thanks  -

Wish i had that sort of confidence. Don't think it will be too bad, just expecting to find a few inherited problems from the last owner. Should really be normal wear thats the problem, can't see any think too bad being wrong. Emissions will be fine cause i tested them a couple of days ago. That is normally the biggest problem from what i can gather. Just hoping on german reliability now -

good luck mate, mines on saturday

Thanks for that, also just a thought. I know my down pipe heatshield rattles slightly, could i remove that at the same time and then wrap the manifold and down pipe in heat wrap instead?
-
Ok, so in the next month or so i'm going to be removing and changing my Manifold as there seems to be a small crack in it. What is the best way to remove the manifold, obviously i will have to remove the inlet MF, But i've been putting it off because i'm worried about shearing studs off in the head. Would it be worth soaking the nuts in wd40 for a few days to penetrate any rust and then use heat aswell? What tools would it be worth having to hand, stud extractors, nut splitter etc? What other parts will i require; New Manifold Nuts New studs (in case and come out with the nut) Upper Inlet Manifold Gasket Exhaust Manifold Gasket Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :help: Thanks, Darren Forgot to mention I have a 2ltr 16v (9A)

Sorry about the paint dude, you could try and blend the patch in for a while to make it look better. Had to do the same thing on the girlfriends car not long after i got it for her. As long as you flat off the patch first and prime etc etc, it should look ok. Just flat off each layer after it drys and remask the new area slighty larger to try and blend it better. Thats what i done anyway and you would struggle to see it unless you know its there.

good job mate, will hopefully be up and running when i next time I pop over then.
-
Thanks for the speeedy replies, will look into checking the horn and earth asap. At least i know my windows work correctly!!
-
Just searched and can't seem to find anything on this, my horn works fine unless i'm going straight ahead. I have to turn the wheel slightly to make the horn work. I'm using the original steering wheel, has anyone else had this happen? What can cause this? Also is it usual to only be able to open/close one window at a time, on my other cars i've had i could do both windows at the same time...

Thanks, Think the water helps hide it. It is a fairly good match though, and if it does peal its only cheap to respray or replace.

I just went to my local bodyshop, Gave them my paint code (LC6U) and they mixed me up a can. Think halfords will do it too. look in your boot and you will find the paint code on a sticker.
-
Put a gromit in mine, got it from halfords. fit was fine, has never leaked. although i did seal it in from underneath just in case! Done it a few months ago now, painted it and lacquered it too. has been through a good few car washes since and no paint has flaked, just make sure you rough it up first. Also, don't forget to block the washer pipe! Gromit.JPG[/attachment:20ys5z5o] Sorry if the pic is cr*p, just took it outside in the rain..
-
Well do it!! Don't know about the injectors though. If they fit (which they should) the yellows should be good for upto 300hp plus they are cheap so they would also get you going. I know they are not greens but the price difference is huge...

Thought i'd post a pic of my nice paperweight, Turbo.JPG[/attachment:2r16cdq6] Thought seeing the pic might make you, and then gooney move a bit faster..
