Found the culprit, there was a 1" tear in the T-pipe from the water pump/stat housing to the oil cooler to the front engine coolant flange, which would be why it was steaming so bad! Also need to let the alternator dry out, it's absolutely dripping. 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfronpwn.JPG[/attachment:1kq0uwvi] newpipe.JPG[/attachment:1kq0uwvi] hoping this will be a relatively quick fix, although both engines still have spring clips on which means any helpers might have their work cut out! :salute:  Bob Fossil

if anyone needs brake lines near to Oxford, I have a complete set of them in good nick (still green painted) from the 70k Corrado I chopped up. All ABS items available too. Got the front-back lines aswell.

could be more than £50 if the parking brake (handbrake) problem is binding rear calipers. if it's just the handbrake cables it shouldn't be much though.

The annoying loose handbrake tunnel cover - a solution!

That's how ron rolls now. Plastic trim is for primos. -
that downpipe wrap job is T I D Y :salute: hope it all goes to plan and you manage to get the power down, if you're having issues I might be able to get you some 18" slicks from work?

tbh, when i first saw the red items i thought it would look horrid, but it's little things like this that make the car yours and not like everyone else's. keep up the good work!

Door handle repair kit..........THEY ARE NOW AVAILABLE

Is there any way to get these machines so they are less clunky? The standard handles are lovely and smooth, but with these new parts in they feel very notchy and you need a lot more force on the handle to actually open the door; some of my friends just can't open the door at all! -
Managed to get some Golf 16v samcos on order for £90 delivered which I thought was a bit of a bargain. Planning to strip the old coolant hoses and water pump off the spare KR to fix Ron for the time being, then replace with new parts when exams are finished :salute:

Well i'm only first year so not yet, we just do the transitions and grain boundaries at the mo: Martensite, solidus and liquidus, iron-carbon equilibrium diagrams, BCC and FCC calculations, stuff like that. -

Cheers matey! I will have to keep you all informed of what is happening when. I may even be able to sneak out some passes, who knows? I'm not looking forward to the long hours of HAVING to get a car fixed, but it sure does beat another 3 months at the office. SO glad i don't have to do that again  -

I'd put money on any of the following to win in a drag-race: Turkish Milk Man A slow-growing moss Electric Scooter Large Boulder This Barn Child on Tricycle Romanian Couple Midget Wrestler Saturn Dead Squirrel Evolution Tectonic plates and other geological strata Development of human embryo from foetus to newborn child Technological advances in Mormonism Steps' music career Average fermentation length of Budejovicky Budvar brewery's Bud Strong Karl Pilkington Molecules along the grain boundary of a phase-transitioning metal The Scottish Parliament's Official Report of 29th September 2004 Doug from Scrubs, and finally... Boson and Fermion quantum particles in ultracold lithium-atom clouds nearing absolute zero. -
Cool, i thought as much, just needed confirmation. Cheers Jon. (or is it John?) Jon(athan) :salute:

yawn. I am too bored to go into any more technical explanation, I am going to do my CAD homework which is 1,253,564,473.5 times as exciting as this thread. -
stick some plastic sheeting over each wheel. That way people see the wheels, they stay clean, and you look oh so cool. 8)

IT'S WORKING?!?! WTFBBQLOLLERPOPS!!11!!11ONEONEOMG. what was the problem in the end then? I just HAVE to know....

well, exhausts need a little backpressure (N/A engines moreso than F/I) but there will be a balanced/tuned size to which the engine at this present time will run well at. Obviously when the power goes up you need a bigger pipe: the amount of power an engine makes is DIRECTLY proportional to how much air it can flow.
-
yes the wider pipe would have to be sleeved onto the smaller to attach, and yes this would cause a bottleneck from the larger bore piping.
-
Just get new studs, they will be absolutely fine. Get new nuts whilst you're at it. Wrapping is down to driver choice: performance wise it won't be noticable from a bhp point of view, but it will keep the heat in the exhaust and away from other things in the engine bay which is quite useful.

I know dubsport would do this kind of thing, but whether they are reputable and/or near you I have no idea. Also, try phoning the tuner you emailed, you will probably get a much quicker response as most tuners receive tons of emails each day. hth.
-
Ray, if you're having a company do it for you, you're really better off asking them all your questions. Those on here who have done the 24v swap will probably have information which you won't require as you're not doing the swap yourself. hth, Jon.

No my mate is just a student too, he started last summer just after Le Mans. The team has been going for ages with various bosses and team members. Have a look at the website for more info.
