  1. Peeteeeyyyy, old buddy, old pall..... :notworthy:  :salute:
  2. tbh, it's prob for an old ICE sub/amp install or an old Immoblisier. I know my car still has 2 physically behind the dash (immobs, not subs) If I can get my head around these wiring diagrams and I can find metres and metres of the exact same wire, I may well re-wire my dash this summer.
  3. Ooooh, you could get them to do: wishbones, subframe, ARB, rear axle... the list goes on!
  4. I guess you didn't get round to it, seeing as it ended at 9:40pm with no bids? If I had a VR with a blowing manifold I would have snapped it up!
  5. If they do every single panel (i.e. doors with no trim or glass in, front wings, bonnets, tailgate, spoiler) then I think it'd be worth it... but only if you're planniny to keep for a very long time. I wonder if they can recommend a resprayer afterwards? Bare-metal respray would be so awesome, and you could trailer home a next to new corrado!
  6. there are a few about, there's a 400hp TSFI Rallye that I've seen at the NR meets last summertime, sounds monstrous! I hear the new generation ECU / wiring is an absolute MOFO which is what puts most people off I think. Completely different to our Mk2-esque layouts. Blue? That the one that was in Golf+ last year? Now you mention it, could well be! was really nice, can't remember who owns it though.
  7. I'm thinking it might be "a fuel-saving ceramic wear protection for engine oils from automotive additives manufacturer Liqui Moly". linky
  8. If that's 1750 for the whole car including removable panels, does sound like quite the deal. As you said it's basically rust-proofing the entire car. From the chemical side of things, it looks like they use a mixture of acid and alkalis to agitate all the nasty stuff off the panels. Clever stuff! Sounds like they effectively Wax-Oyl (for want of a better word) the car when it's done then. If i had the space time and money to do the bare metal resto that I've always wanted to do, I would seriously consider this. You might want to talk to them about your specific application. For example, if they do mainly older cars, the paint on your car will have a different chemical composition, although they will more than likely have this under control.
  9. It's on order, but it's stuff made by Swarfega... not sure if you guys have that over there, most yanks i've spoken to look at me kinda blank! I used some neat petrol on the steering rack i'm rebuilding, that came up real nice! I've also ordered some Marine Clean and Metal Ready which you might recognise? I'm not sure which brands are international or not. Did you use the metal polish to clean something or just to polish it after? We have some pretty old school metal cleaners over here with nasty chemicals in!
  10. Engine degreaser.... who'd have thunk!
  11. Poll250, if you find out your teeth are worn (like an OAP  ) you can have my spare steering column, I only need it for the U/J at the bottom  :thumb right: Does mean you'll have to pop over to studentland though.... you've had your tetanus recently right?
  12. Awesome! did you manage to do it without removing any of the under-dash plastic panels? I can't be bothered to take mine off again, but this whole bolt thing has got me paranoid! I think coolrado touched on the upper U/J at the top of thie page, sorry I forgot to quote it!
  13. Don't go trying to trace it mate, whole civilisations have been lost behind a corrado dash!
  14. To all my dear groupies, I ordered some more stuff today. A gallon of jizer (a good degreaser, apparently) some bolt removal dies for the spare wishbone, and also a POR-15 rust removal tester kit. I'm not even sure it'll work, but i've heard good things about POR-15 so I thought i'd give it a try. Am lining up a new set of Golf 16v samcos + extras to makwe the kit Corrado friendly, which will probably go on the new engine unless I have a major hose failure sometime soon.
  15. Aaaaah sounds awesome! Nylong coating sounds fascinating too! Must ask my materials lecturer about that. Good work buddy, easily the best resto thread I've ever read.

  17. Mine are looking like that too and i've still got a fair few bolts to buy! :bad-words:
  18. Also, does anyone know what those little grey bags of crack are for? One of mine split and threw a few grams of the white stuff all over the floor... :(
  19. awesome, cheers for the link!
  20. bump for anyone who knows the answer to my Q ^^^ WOuld really like to get the carpets back in if at all possible!
  21. My velcros? Thanks. They're mail-order don't you know 8)
  22. I also think that VW didn't _need_ to make any more supercharged motors to achieve the performance with efficiency goals that they set out to get with the G60. Have you seen the demos of the FSI (Fuel Stratification Injection) systems? They are fascinating and seem to be the next-generation in variable inlet technology. These also give very good economical returns on part throttle but also a decent chunk of performance at WOT. This is purely from what i've read, so feel free to correct, I'm not going to be owning a next-gen car anytime soon!
  23. ditto! love the campers / old buses.
  24. Oh..... completely disregard my last post then :( *sigh*
