  1. Sorry to resurrect this bad boy, but i'm having some trubs locating a part on vagcat. Basically, one of the single-pin switches which I had sooo much fun rewiring has snapped off...but the vagcat picture is of an 8v and a lot of the locations of the switches seem different. Basically, I'm on this page: OIL PRESSURE SWITCH / THERMAL SWITCH / TEMPERATURE SENDER / SWITCH FOR REVERSING LIGHT / / 4 cylinder And I need to get the lower-left 1-pin connector, it has a red-green striped wire going to it...anyone know which part number it is on this diagram? I'm thinking it could be one of the Number 8s...? Any help appreciated! Cheers.
  2. I know 205 GTis I've had before came in around the 18% mark.
  3. My felt-like material is sodden and dead. Any recommended replacement material for the OEM stuff?
  4. Very true, wheel power is all that matters. Btw, that 36hp loss is only 18% which is about in keeping with what I think it should be, under 20%.
  5. EXTREME THREAD RESURRRRECCCCTTTIIIOOONNNNNNNNN!!!! *ahem* How did people get around the fact that this stuff is obviously thinner than the original green-felt style soundproofing? I'm guesing the carpets are moulded to fit, and with something thinner underneath them, won't the carpets flap around a little? Cheers, Jon.
  6. Yes they are and awesome's rolling road is one of the most accurate RR (which has been proven by there running of standard new cars and getting book clutch figures) in the country and just out of curiosity I called them up and spoke to a very helpful man who informed me what I have always suspected. Power figures at the clutch in most cases is a geustimate and he said if you see 40-50bhp loss through a FWD car something is very wrong and you would struggle to push the car physically. Don't flame me if you find this information upsetting. This is just the results of a little bit of research. I welcome it with open arms! I always thought 20%+ was too high for a FWD car.
  7. Nice Audi, is it brand spanking new? Seems to have some wrapping left on the front end.
  8. ^^^ all those VAG cars are 10% or less loss, between Clutch Power and Max Power...
  9. VW drivetrains make me sad! That's a ridiculous tranny loss.
  10. VW boxes make me sad then.
  11. Yeah, it should be 10-20% on a VW transmission iirc. 40-50hp on a std G60 would be 25-31% which is a little steep!
  12. ^^^ and don't let fatties back on your seats.
  13.   Awesome! to be fair, I haven't ever taken parts back to Dave (he is such a good guy!) but the Motorworld VW on Iffley Road is a 'tard house. Hotttttty receptionist though! :luvlove: I would expect that Dave would so something like that, he's a quality guy. Having useful staff makes SUCH a difference! Thanks for the tip too, I'll be using Dave exclusively from now on!
  14. ^^^ If Jabba had done your G60, you could call it Jabba WOCCY! But then, if you had Jabba do your charger, a potato would probably make more boost.
  15. I'm thinking anything cork-like which is going to disintegrate on contact with hydraulic fluid would be a bad idea! Wonder what I could wedge the holes up with.
  16. seizing brake calipers despite your sig, skinnyman???
  17. Why would you ever have a second car to a Corrado? You'll either: Be fixing the Corrado all the time and have no time or money for the other car, Be driving the corrado all the time because nothing else compares! I know way too many people with more than one "project" car, just doesn't make sense to bite off more than you can chew really.
  18. lol, they need to be tiny bottles of wine, with lids that will not disintegrate under mild pressure!
  19. Traverse, I reckon out "gasoline" is about $10 a gallon at the mo.... how much is yours? Actually, I don't want to know
  20. Ditto. or ride the peasant wagon!
  21. I still have to degrease before respray, and am a little concerned about grit getting inside the main rack itself. Willl have to think on about how to clean it, if only I had some blanking plugs!
  22. Plus, if you order the wrong part from VAG they WILL NOT take it back. That has always been the case with everything I've bought from them incorrectly. Most factors will take back incorrectly ordered parts.
  23. Interesting points...But if you replace a part from a factor and it doesn't fix your issue, you don't have to re-mortgage your house! I too think GSF can be rubbish, but only some of their items. The BQ (Best Quality) stuff isn't miles off VAG quality as Dec pointed out.
  24. Good to hear your experiences, Dec. Considering the MASSIVE price difference between Febi and VAG, would you recommend that people use genuine parts in general or only on those critical areas, such as as the rear bushes you mentioned? I guess it's each to their own at the end of the day. VW stamps in the service book just don't mean the same these days as they used to, way too many dealers offering apprenticeships to incompetent school-leavers imho.
  25. Multiplug as in wiring connector? Got the track ends off the rack now, it was a beeeeeeeatch though esp as the spanner's only 12" at best! Now i wanna refurb the rack (get all the muck off/out of it and maybe replace the seals) and spray it again. Not sure what to use though to be honest.
