  1. if it's the Gti 8v block then yes I think so. you do realise that will still only be a 1.8 engine though, and you might as well just get a 1.8 16v (KR) or some such?
  2. Thanks, I'm not the most serious person in the world! :dorky: :bonk:
  3. Went to the V-Wizzle this morning to order these parts: list.JPG[/attachment:1ue17wxp] Although they had the switch in stock so I took it there and then for £28!! This thing better have a small ECU in it to measure coolant temp for that price! Most parts are on back-order so will take a couple of weeks, leaving me time to wrestle with the PAS rack and some other bits and bobs.
  4. Nope, not yet. Last time I went and looked it was a form you have to print out and then post off....which is a lot of hassle.
  5. I don't catch your drift to be honest :? and I don't think Dave properly knows me yet anyways. No I didn't get any discount, but then again I am not entitled to any discount! Plus the part was actually bought from Iffley Road.
  6. Hi team, So i'm rebuilding this rack off the scrapper shell, and I've got this far: pasrack.JPG[/attachment:60twgle9] Does anyone know if I can seperate it down further than this or is it not worth it? I really want to clean all the gunk out of it (majority of threaded holes have dirt in them too). I know the seal on the splined bit at the top is an easy swap, but I also know that VAG sell a "set of PAS seals" which I've ordered but I don't know where they go, as the top seal is a separate part. Also, does anyone know if it's safe to wash / submerge the rack as it is into some water with de-greaser or muck removal stuff? I'd be leaving it to dry before rebuilding so hopefully none of the hydraulics would be compromised. Expertise welcome!
  7. Way to blow the surprise dude. Dave wasn't even there, it was a bald guy named Gary (pwned!) and the only one in stock was at Iffley Road...major parts search!
  8. Am I in the running for most off-topic posts? :ignore:
  9. #Got the forum on lockdowwwwn#
  10. LOL @ awesomeness smiley! That one is the best  Perhaps he is...I think someone might have told me he's early 20s and knows more than Britannica about Corrados
  11. You guys have vivid imaginations despite being olds!
  12. Went and ordered some new part for the front-end refurb FROM THE DEALERS    I know, Dinkus/Walesy, I must be insane right cos I hate the dealers? It was mainly bolts anyways so ovvy dealer job. Got bumloved over a 1-pin coolant thermotime switch though... I almost apologised for not having any small change on me and having to pay by card... NO NEED!
  13. Ok, I've recovered from my financial Pwnage... guess how much that 1-pin thermotime switch was???
  14. I remember mum dropping big paper on that plate for you, bro... She was not happy when you sold! :brickwall: Just did a quick online quote thing where it pulls the cars details up from the reg plate. The ACC came up so I'm guessing it's not been stacked into a large deciduous yet. I think you might be able to get some more info off a DVLA-esque site but I have no idea what that is!
  15. Alright Paul, I wouldn't call it a mortal sin! We're not VW Vortex  I'd always go with light interiors in a dark car, and vice verse so cream/tan leather in a green car, but as you say you don't think you could live with it, which is fair enough! Your car a the end of the day (or will be!) don't worry about the donkeys who kick up a fuss :bonk:
  16. Oh, I thought this was a guessing game: A *noun* made my C understeer? I'm gonna go with 'slightly excited deer in the woods'
  17. So I can ring them for April Fool's and get them to do that Candy Pink you've always liked, but just never had the guts to go for? :camp: :fondle: That's right, some of those are international.
  18. Cheers toadie, that is exactly the right part on VagCat! Will be popping up to see Dav tomorrow then!
  19. ohhhhh, so THAT's why since the pin snapped on it the car is trying to idle at 5-700rpm? Awesome, cheers Matt! Do you know which part it would be on that diagram link above? Is it one of the thermotime switches (a Number 8 part on the vagcat diagram)?
  20. To be perfectly honest, I don't know enough about RR machinery and how the rundown is calculated to comment on the mechanics of it (drag, inertia, etc etc) but it does seem odd how different RRs will read different figures! I know they're all made by different companies, but I'd expect the basic machinery to be aligned/calibrated correctly.
  21. I found out the hard way that the early and late style grilles have tabs in completely different places and you'd need a late style slam panel to use a late grille on an early car. Would have thought they'd all be the same like the Mk2..
  22. Yeah, they're all coming in at 25-30+% loss  Ouch. I know in the old days, and especially for the ricer mags they used to pay off the RR guy to calibrate the rollers to read high to boost inflated egos :cuckoo:
  23. fraid not bro, spare engine is senseles in this particular area! bump for someone to tell me what the red-green is/does.
