Urgent advice needed (petrol filled into a diesel car)
boost monkey replied to DEL VR6's topic in General Car Chat
The petrol in the diesel car should run fine generically: The diesel will be running somewhere around 20:1 compression as that's how diesels work, so the petrol will be igniting probably long before TDC in the chamber. So it will run, but you'll be down on power, and the car won't sound like a tractor  Bu then I haven't had experiences of anyone running petrol through a new gen diesel engine, although would it really be that much different? Physics seems more or less the same. @Supercharged, what do you mean the PD injectors won't like it that much? Is it purely the super-high pressure common rail diesel thing? AFAIK, Diesel in a petrol is DOOM. Petrol in a Diesel is Alright...but you'd wanna rectify it really, as with running any machinery on a fluid it wasn't designed for. hth, B Monkey. -
Yan, less boost pressure will put less strain on the charger surely, and therefore be a good thing? Mechanical mods (i.e. removing restrictive metal when porting a head) which are permanent and not (too) damaging to reliability seem to be the way forward!
-
if i had any steering!
-
Pretty sure they are to eliminate the torque steer due to unequal length driveshafts, but I could be wrong.
-
p.s. student loans don't count... p.p.s. what's with all the new emoticons!! Doesn't dinkus have a real job?
-
Please remember that a lot of the generic short-term insurance companies such as DayInsure.com etc etc will not insure a modified car. Always read the small print!
-
Borrowing money is always crippling, don't ever live beyond your means, it's just not worth it. *agrees with Walesy*
-
it could be the torque-steer reducer has come loose and slipped down the driveshaft. This looks like a small band of metal on the driveshaft.
-
Yeah, I tried taking a set apart recently and they didn't want to disconnect from the spring plates.
-
Flusted has a ported head, and Yan has already mentioned that he will see lower than expected boost pressure because of this, although expected power output would still be the same. Loving the engine pics! :D

Thanks Porker forum...Warning possible S*x wee...

lol, i'm just being silly but none of you know me well enough to tell  they are gorgeous cars though, you gotta admire the engineering. -
Yeah you're right, I haven't been to a single RR! I just wondered whether spraying tyres was a cheat or not, so I'm glad you proved that it's not. After all, if we didn't challenge each other now or then, we'd all believe the figures quites in M** P**** magazine et all! Cheers for the confirmation, v interesting read :thumb right:
-
  lol!! cheers MATE
-
Sounds good matey, but is it very fair spraying grip on the rollers? I mean, hardly realistic is it? Unless the rollers are quite worn which I could understand, but surely the point of an RR is to get a realistic figure of what power / torque your car can put down?

saw this on Vortex... anyone know the story

Ah yeah, didn't spot the mk3 wings! Looks like it was a 5dr version so not particularly fair comparison with regards to structural strength vs a corrado. For all we know the mk3 had no glass in it at the time, or the corrado might have been engineless? Hard to say for sure imo. -
Clutch failure(?) - FIXED, was hydraulic AND friction!

Apart from the ABS unit and normal brakes lines, but yeah. :( -
If you're really desperate to have it, just source as US spec one which will have all the switches and everything you need. I still use the button on the door for my "air-con"

Going back to the brake thing, we shouldn't have had to bleed the brake master unless the level dipped below minimum... now, who was in charge of reservoir filling...? -
Awesome!!! you should come test it in or around Oxford... please? @cheesewire, shoop shoop?

hire the VR out for trips around the ring road! I'll start saving pennies. (and yes, I am insured) -

woot! good work bro. keep us updated. -
No cata, it's on his particular stereo.
-
Nice wheels, are they Azevs?
-
possibly worse? p.s. are there any banana clips holding the rack down?? (I'll get my coat...)

With regards to the union not biting, if you mean the copper line with the threaded head, you really have to push them into the union to start with to get the threads to bite as there is actually a fair amount of tension in the copper line despite it being so small and relatively ductile! Will think on Bromulan.
