all four lambdas don't have to be fitted; you can delete the two after the cats if you want to run a single cat, but if you're going down the OEM ecu route, then you may as well fit all four IMO - the last two aren't detrimental to the engine running (they just make sure the cats are doing their job properly etc as far as i'm aware) and you can delete them, but keeping them retains the OEMness of the car and keeps the ecu most happy. you have to run the first two lambdas with the OEM ecu as they are the ones that give it all the information. (oh and i have all 4 lambdas on my car) you don't have to lower the front mount to get the engine to clear the bonnet with the r32 lump. as for the exhaust manifold i'm unsure of the exact route/design of the audi manifold - i have heard that it may be easier to get the tt manifold modified to fit (possibly the easier option if you are planning to run it with the 4wd setup). i don't think that the manifold is a straight bolt on fit though in any case - i'm almost certain you'll have to get involved in some sort of jiggery pokery with pipework to make things work. alternatively if you speak to Pete at dubpower , he could hopefully sort you with a nice aftermarket stainless item if you told him your requirements with the propshaft etc...

flusted was clearly misled in his youth! :lol: sorry buddy - there are some nice cars there - just taste leaves a little to be desired! Pete - that's an awesome list of previous cars there matey - definitely one to be envious of! great to see you are coming back to corrado ownership after owning cars of that calibre! i prefer the corrado to my impreza wr1 any day - will be nearly as fast soon too hopefully :D

thanks very much for the replies gents - that's all i was after. the place that rebuilt my gearbox for me has agreed to take it out etc - but i want to be there when they do it, and they've said they are fine with that. they have ramps etc etc, so hopefully when it comes to it, it shouldn't be too bad a job. thanks all for your replies :) and i feel for all of you who had to do it scratting around on the floor like i've had to for the past couple of months!

Does anyone know if it's possible to get the gearbox off a VR with the engine still in-situ? i did a clutch on my step-dad's 4-cyl transporter van and we were able to get the gearbox off and still leave the engine in by dropping the engine off it's mounts, angling it towards the front of the car slightly and lowering it on the gearbox side enough to allow the box to clear the subframe and slide off. i was wondering if anyone knew if this was possible on a VR? i will probably have to get the gearbox back off before long and i really don't want to have to go through the nause of taking the whole chuffing engine back out unless i can help it! (i would have a look and think about it myself, but i'm nowhere near the car unfortunately :() thanks Pete :)

those seats look fantastic buddy - one of my ideal seats actually - great stuff mate :) i'm really curious to see just how much your car is putting out as other than junkie's on here (which is still sadly off the road as far as i know) and bigtartan judge, there aren't too many highly tuned g60's kicking around (oooh just thought - maybe jmc's...) but i'm still really keen to see what yours is putting out on the rollers if you're planning on taking it any time in the future :D keep up the good work buddy :)

i mean bend the actual wiper arm that is screwed onto the motor - it will put more load on the spring which holds the wipers onto the screen, which in turn will push the wipers harder onto the screen and stop the wipers from missing a patch in the middle. sounds daft, but trust me it works :) there is an abvious place to bend it where there is a slight bend already (nowhere near my car at the mo, but i think it's abouts 6-8 inches up the arms from the wiper end...) mine only needed a very small tweek and now they work perfectly

grab the new arm for the passenger side and bend it slightly towards the screen in the obvious place - this will put more load on the wiper and force it down onto the screen more effectively :) had a very small amount of bending to do on mine. other than that they should work fine - no juddering/smears etc and you can actually see when you go over 60mph in the rain now! :D

fair one about the leather there buddy - each to their own :) i'm surprised you don't like the lupo wipers - i've found mine to be infinitely better tan the originals...

also surprised you haven't got lupo wipers now i look at them again - i should imagine with that blower it's quitehard to see in the wet; doubt it ever spends very long below 60mph ;)

hey andy, car is looking really good - you did seem like you liked to keep it clean and polished when i met you :) can't help with th wiring issues i'm afraid as my motor is a vr and my wiring is now nothing like standard inside... random question - i like the top piccie in front of the waterfall - is that anywhere near gloucester?

go for the vr bud - you know it makes sense. if you buy a good one with the majority of usual work already done, then you can simply relax and enjoy it (touches wood!) you'll kick yourself after if you don't take the opportunity, and at the end of the day - vr's aren't really much more expensive to run than valvers etc - just more potent :)

mine didn't have lambda holes to start with either - drilled the holes with a decent metal hole-saw and welded the bosses in; job done :)

i'm afraid i've only got a pic of my car prior to the rado; but i'll tell you about my others anyway - i had a saxo vtr for my first car at 18 which i decided to park upside down after about 6 months of ownership! :oops: next was an ax gt which was fettled a little when i bought it ran this around for ages but it went rusty and a friend of mine randomly had another ax gt shell which he was doing nothing with. i reshelled the car and rebuilt the engine at the same time. it was running approx 110-120 bhp and went like poo off a stick for a little car. sold that and bought a 205 gti - massive massive advocate of these cars - absolutely love 'em and i swear i will have another one for the weekends some day. sold that and bought a 306 s16 (basically like a 306 gti6 but with 5 gears) which i will strongly advocate as well - a bit like a grown up version of the 205 - big fan of this car. after that i got the car i was after since even before i could drive - saved up for ages and got a loan off the old man for the rest. i bought a 2004 impreza wrx sti wr1 Impreza_WR1_2004_1.jpg[/attachment:2ijt5rt6] (will edit the post with a pic of the actual car later as i haven't got one to hand - but here's one exactly the same) left it standard and eventually had to sell it due to running costs and the fact that the costs made it totally impractical as a daily - would rape you on fuel etc even when being driven sensibly. then i finally began my rado ownership after the impreza and haven't looked back since :) see my build thread for pics of the rado - i'm ashamed to say that since i've owned it, i've never had the chance to take a decent picture of it all polished up and looking nice as i've always been doing stuff to it or never had the chance for whatever reason when it has been clean and working. :oops: edit - have always contemplated a motorbike for the faster, quicker, better approach; but i've also contemplated horrific death due to speed addiction too, which has stopped me to this day... :nuts: i may well end up getting one someday - maybe after another 6 month trip in hotter climes...

no shameless plug there at all Kaz - more than happy to plug Mark's business for the work he's done so far - been really happy with the way everythings gone and the way i've been treated :) not only has Mark done a great job so far, but he's a bloody nice guy to boot. (i'm sorry to have dropped off such a nightmare car for him :? ) by the way - i noticed he has customers cars on the website. if it would help him, once i've got all the paintwork etc back to the decent standard it should be, i'm more than happy to have him take a load of photos etc of the car when it's shiny so he can use them. merry xmas by the way everyone :x-mas: -

thanks buddy - way ahead of there actually - i've already spoken to vince today. i said i would pay him for his time yesterday and explained because of the potential hasstle that i would just get the vag-doc to map it for me too. in all fairness (i'm not sure how much i'm going to get shot down in flames for saying this on this forum...) but there's a chance that the vag-doc could well be just as good at mapping if not better in some areas than stealth anyway... (holds breath!) vince was saying how he's still working on his map for a useable throttle pedal and not one that is all or nothing after a very small amount of travel - the vag-doc has had his working for ages. also the vag-doc doesn't have to desoulder the chip from the ecu board to remap it like vince said he would have to... 90% of the vag-doc's work is remapping and that includes mostly new diesel cars e.g bmw's, mercs and vag stuff obviously; he spends a lot of money each year in just sorting out kit/codes etc for all the latest cars out and has got contacts to get code from who work for bosch and various other places - like i said before - he seems like one seriously switched on cookie. i was talking to him all about mapping and getting access to the codes etc that manufacturers don't want you to do. it's one bloody interesting subject of which i personally could barely ever hope to skim the surface, the guy really does seem to be very switched on though. (unless i'm just particularly easy to bull$hit! :lol:) i guess the proof of the pudding is in the driving anyway! - i said to vince i wouldn't mind popping it up there so he can see how everything has been setup and stick it on the rollers to see if it's making the right sort of figures. he seemed happy with that, so once it's all sorted, i should know for certain :)
