Thanks very much for the advice! ive heard there is a detailing day at the end of november ran by autobrite (ive not heard of them before) its £50 and you get a basic introduction to all things related to detailing, including an introduction to machine polishing. Sounds like the kind of thing i need although maybe the best thing for me to do would be to get the kit and practice on a panel. Would you recommend i stay away from a rotary then? Can the same results be easily achieved with a dual action machine?. Bearing in mind i have no equipment whatsoever, where should i start with wash mitts, lances etc as i dont have a pressure washer just now.

Hi there, ive been thinking about getting a machine to polish my car but not sure which one to go for, random orbital or a straight forward polisher. Ive been reading that its important to know how hard the paint is before selecting which products to use so my question is is the corrado paint generally hard/soft or somewhere in between and has anybody here successfully machine polished there car. My main reason for doing it is to remove the nasty swirl marks that have built up over time along with many scratches. Looking for any advice from fellow diy detailers :).

Thanks for the offer, i was hopeing to get one to take back to work with me, ill be away for a month so thats prob a bit long to borrow it. I was going to read up on it while im away.

Can anyone tell me where i can find information on the AB VR6 engine, all im finding is AAA engine code information. I know there isnt an awfull lot of difference but is there any write up on the AB engine? I need to start faultfinding an intermittant misfire so need some technical information.

Ive still not bought one yet so if anyone can recommend anything or has one for sale that is a known good one then give me a shout!

Thanks for that, ive just bought a replacement beru one so ill see what happens when i fit it.

Tried the leads and they all seemed to be seated ok, getting the plugs in and out looks like it might be a fiddle too. Ive ordered a new coilpack which will hopefully sort the problem. There is a large wiring connector block on the rhs of the head which looks like the injector wiring, im going to disconnect this and give it a clean. Also i read that by running the engine briefly then switching it off but leaving ignition on the maf will heat up and burn off any oil/contamination that might be there so will try that also.

Hi there, it looks like im going to have to replace the coilpack on my vr6, what are my options? I dont really want to pay over £250 for a VW one if i can help it and ive heard the beru ones may not be great quality, how have people found them?. Ive heard of people using coilpacks from fords, saabs, vauxhalls etc, how have people got on with these and what would you recommend? Thanks.

Could somebody post a picture of this tool please as i dont seem to have one. Where exactly should it be, actually on the bonnet prop?

Well i returned home today with the above car and must say am very impressed with the performance and sound of the VR engine. Even the fuel economy wasnt as poor as i was expecting and its most definately quicker that the standard G60 i was driving. The only slight downer is the fact that there is a misfire when the engine is under load. I picked it up today after being told it was sorted with a new set of HT leads. It soon became apparant that the problem was still there. I called him up and he has agreed that whatever the problem, i can get it fixed and send him the bill for parts as i said id do it myself. Not knowing these engines im thinking it could be a coilpack, earth fault somewhere, ecu or injection, lambda sensor or airflow sensor/potentiometer depending on whats fitted?

Hi there, not a newbie as such but ive just bought my first Vr6 corrado,black, highline interior (not sure if this is any different to a standard leather interior?) 60.000 miles, FSH, air con and in excellent condition. Ive looked at a few and this one was by far the best, totally unmodified which is a rare thing it seems. Sounded really smooth when it was fired up. When we went out for a spin there was some hesitation, apparantly the HT leads were breaking down, showing signs of arcing under load and these are getting replaced on saturday morning which will hopefully cure the problem. Ive owned a G60 before so it will be interesting to see how it compares, i know the VR6 has a bit more power but i was thinking it might be offset by the extra weight?. Im from teesside, would be nice to get along to any local meets if there are any. I pick the car up tomorrow from shrewsbury after its been into the garage. Ill get a few pictures of it up over the weekend. I know little about these engines so ill be having a good look through this forum. Is there a good starting point or anything i should be taking care of straight away?. Cheers.

Hi there i have a corrado g60 which has very poor bodywork so am on the lookout for another shell to put my engine into. Body and paint must be in great condition but engine doesnt matter. Preferably black or silver, thanks.

Still looking, ideally id take an early bonnet, O/S wing and N/S rear quarter off a shell if anyone is willing? Failing that i need someone who is willing to ship a bonnet or wing up to me. Anyone?

Are there any parts left for sale? Is it worth all the effort putting a turbo and g lader onto the same engine?

Ok thanks chris if you could let me know that would be appreciated. I know of a breakers that has a few corrados in and for £70 they said they would remove the panel and have it delivered, im sure that was the all in price too. Let me know if you want their number. Would be good to see how you go about it. I know its mainly spot welded in but there must be a factory joint up by the roof somewhere?. Have you tackled anything like this before?

Would be interested to hear how you get on, are you going to have a go yourself or will it be going into a bodyshop? Ill give you a shout if i find a shell with two decent quarters on it and would really appreciate it if you could let me know if you find one. Still waiting for borachris to get back to me about this one in billingham. Where abouts are you?
