NO WAY, im sure a couple of years ago i saw a couple up for sale at some specialists for less than 200k? But then again i might be chatting outta my ass!!
-
Cant wait to see this on the Rs'. Its going to look stunning!
-
Standard or go for gloss black, cc'd only works on black cars imo!
-
Wow some awesome info here guys... now i need to try and understand it all lol. How much do u chaps reckon a regular garage would charge to fit the cams? I couldnt do it myself for sh*t.

So would i be better off just sourcing a mint KR head then to get a better rev limit? I think with regards to the cooling the problem i have is the amount of stop start traffic i sit in. The other day after sitting in 1 hours worth of traffic my oil temp was at 128 degrees but that was a one off (normally max is 122) and the coolant 110. Mind u, my coolant has always sat at 100 degrees during town driving for some reason! Ok, so with regards to tuning... A 9a/KR ported and polished head... Dave, who did this for you and could you give us some rough guidance in terms of how much we should be paying? Ported and polised 42mm inlet mani... Kr cams... Panel filter and exhaust system... anything else? If after all these questions i go and drop a VR lump in its not my fault, it is jus a lazy assed way of gettin good power! Does anyone know how much more clearance the R32 sump gives?

Hi guys, ive posted up a few questions about engine conversions etc in the past and well tbh i havent done anything just yet and well the story goes like this... I originally wanted a VR but couldn't insure it (was 19 at the time), bought my valver, love it but its a bit sluggish... so then i wanted a VR/20v T in the rado, decided against the 20v engine due to cost and the fact that ive never liked the way they drive, I settle back into the valver for a while and then Tedmans 24V VR goes up for sale, i go crazy, have a couple of people come view the valver, neither took the car so without the sale of my car i can no longer buy Terrys 24v lol. Now im thinking ok lets VR my rado which was a good plan untill i met up with a friend a couple of days ago whos got a vr and OH MY GOD the sumps hang low so no thanks. I mean im constantly smacking my valvers sump especially on my way to work so the VR's out of the question there and yes i prefer my cars aesthetics to VR smoothness! Oh and tbh, ive gotten to like the valvers power delivery for some reason lol. Early torque delivery doesnt entertain me as much (mind u it is impressive when u get in a tdi/1.8t/24v). So ive got a few simple questions and before anyone says search, yes i already have but tbh theres not much that answers my questions specifically. So KR cams, great simple mod i understand, what kind of difference can i expect in the cars top end output? I hate that it refuses to do much more past 5.5kish rpm. What is it that gives the actual KR lumps there 7k rpm redline? I do like my valver to scream you see! What can i do to make the valver more rev happy? How much can i expect to pay to have cams fitted? Ive been quoted around 200 quid for the swap and i wasnt sure if this is too much or not? Do small bits like uprated spark plugs/air filters/ht leads etc make any difference? After cams whats next? I want to get a 4 branch mani asap and a new decat exhaust system knocked up sometime soon after... that along with cams should see me approximately another 10% of power and torque over standard right? Im assuming headwork is next? What have people payed for this? Im pretty sure ive read that the KR inlet mani restricts torque a bit so do u guys reckon the ABF one will offer any improvements? Or would it be worth while getting the stock 9a inlet ported? If so, can someone put me in touch with a reputable company to do the work that wont rape me sideways... Thats enough about power, cooling next! So, will a VR rad and fan fit? If they dont keep the valver cool in the summer i dont know what will... Im assuming a mocal oil cooler would help but how much can i expect to pay for one fitted? Any other advice/opinions on the above would be hugely appreciated! Sorry for the amount of questions, Abdul

Damn, tis a real shame.. at least ur ok though mate.. sort out the insurance n get another i say! Is there anyway to prevent this light switch failure from taking place then?
-
Lolz it is sparkz!! My cars a late model so surely i have the same tank as a vr, just need to change the pump maybe? Whats the deal with the mk3 subframe? Im a bit useless i know! Thanks for the all advice people!

OBD2 lump, associated wiring, rad, gearbox etc. So the whole lot out of whatever golf it comes out of really. I plan on getting a 6branch fitted at the same time along with a new custom exhaust. But yeah 1200 for a straight OBD2 swap inc everything out of a VR except for chassis/brakes. Toad, what do u mean by panels? Is there a difference in corrado and golf gearboxes? What else is different other than the engine displacement and obd2? The conversion was done on my friends mk3 in about a week iirc and tbh its mint, runs perfect and has never skipped a beat! The chap owns and has built his own mk2 VRT so he knows what hes doing. Is there anything other than chains and clutch worth changing before getting the engine put in? Do u guys reckon G60 stoppers would suffice? Ive heard S2 audi calipers can also be used with 280mm disks...true? Thanks guy, really appreciate not being told im a plonker for doing this to the valver lol oh and the advice!

Hi guys, want to get a 2.8 obd2 vr out of a late mk3 dropped into the rado, i was just wondering what you guys thought would be a good price to pay for the conversion. I mean i did originally want a 1.8T but decided against that and so a 24v but tbh dont have 4k lying around for either and would rather get a vr in and work on that progressively. I just cant justify taking such a hit for an engine conversion. The car will keep its narrow track and 4x100 set up so literally only the engine work needs to be done by someone experienced. I mean i spoke to one company who quoted me 2200 for the engine fitted and mated to my stock exhaust. I just PMSL. lol. Ive read threads where people have tackled the conversion in 1 weekend so im not willing to pay anywhere near 2k. The best quote ive got is from a chap in north london who did a friends mk3 and he quoted me 1200 for a 2.8 obd2 lump supplied and fitted. I know alot of people are going to think im better of buying a vr in the 1st place and what not but i like my rado, the shell is near enough mint and i wont get my money back on it so figure i may aswell vr this instead. Also, other than the chains, wat else is worth doing before the lump goes in? Thanks, Abdul

Ah cool cheers fella, what's the best thing to use to bond em back on?
-
Honda NSX-R anyone! :notworthy: Want one, need one 8) And there is no point getting into a 12V/24V which sounds better argument. Basically cos the 12V is one of the best sounding engines ever end of. Pretty much the only reason I still have the Corrado. And same reason the guy I was speaking to the other day still has his Mk3 VR6. Despite being minted now and owning a Porsche 996 GT3 RS and a myriad of other exciting 'weaponry' Was also the reason I spent £2k on cams, VSR and a remap rather than on an engine conversion. Why would you want to get rid of the 12V, dont get it  (no offence anyone) Matt Does the VSR change the sound at all? Ive heard it does... makes it sound more like a regular 6pot ive read...
-
Hi guys, how do i go about removing these? Is it a difficult job? I want to refinish them and refit them later so would like to keep em intact!! Thanks Abdul
-
What work have u done to yours bud?
-
Yeah i see what u mean they are a bit tdi-ish lol. I wish honda made a crazy high revving 6 pot, id be all over it!! Vtec is just lovely lol imo.
-
No doubt they sound awesome if thats the noise u like, very raspy, not my thing... induction roar is my preference. Coullstar I get what u mean about being able to be in any gear at any time and being able to floor it through a bend, makes for more effortless speeding lol but i like to really work the car, don't know why but i feel its more rewarding! I didnt say anything about it being like a Tdi, more like a 1.8T which is the best daily driver vag lump out there (on a budget) imo but also boring! In all fair honesty, on a day to day basis the 24v would be more rewarding to drive for most but ive got a fetish for high revs
-
I have no clue about the difference in terms of performance but the 12v kills the 24v in terms of noise lol. If the difference is as Kev says with the Vr being more top end heavy with a nice linear output id rather have that as imo it makes for a better drive especially if u like twistys.. i love being able to keep the valver in a certain gear and just putting my foot down round a bend as i know the power is very gradual rather than punchy (reason i personally dont like 1.8t's)... Drive both, see what u like mate. The 24v conversion wont come cheap so make sure you really want it!

Thanks bud, the chap from Glasgow came to view the car today, seemed very positive, said he would let me know tommorow so fingers crossed.
-
Unfortunately the rado is up for sale, got a very keen chap coming to view the car tommorow so if all works out a deal should be sorted... He is on this forum too so thats a plus point... Another plus point is the fact that im replacing it with a VR, seen one thats taken my fancy, just waiting for this beaty to go first! I did originally want a conversion done to this but once id factored in everything i was hitting figures of over 2.5k, i mean it could be done for a grand but if im goin to might aswel do it properly so changing the base car all together now, easier with insurance that way too! Turned 21 in Jan and get my 3rd yrs ncb in may and insurance will be down to 1k with brentacre (paying 1600 right now for the valver) which was the main turning point tbh. Im going to f*cking miss this car... Ive finally got it to a state where im very pleased with it, not taking it to a single show and selling up! I suck.
-
Rado looks amazing mate, so purposeful and aggresive!!!
-
Nice, always good to see a shed-ish rado being bought back to life!! The rebuild sounds awesome, get everything powdercoated!! I know what u mean about not owning a corrado, ive wanted to get back into a newer car for so damn long now but cant not own a rado so am selling mine to fund a 4mo'd or 20vt'd rado... :D
-
You can add 1 more to that as mines going i just haven't advertised it as someones coming to view this weekend, but all might not be lost, im seriously considering a vr as a replacement but with a better spec this time (ie heated leatherss)...
-
Cheers chaps, Swompy, the colours ace... changes quite alot depending on the light 8) Sam, the cars going lower once the arches are done very soon, yours is inspirational! :notworthy: Grey16 there is a little bit of negative camber (about 0.5) on the front but more on the rear (no shims or anything, just lowness camber lol) so going to dial in about another another 1 degrees up front (at the most).. Jonny, tbh the suspension has settled now and when canning it or carrying more than 1 passenger i am shredding the tyres a tiny little bit but nothing noticable... if i was about 5-10mm higher it'd be fine but yeah fack that, im gettin the arches done instead! Oh with a 205/40 and you might get away with the same ride height or even just 5mm higher! Ozowen, thanks mate... All in all im very pleased, will get more pics up when its actually clean lol :salute:
-
Lovely car mate, lower the front a little to match the rear maybe?? Thats pretty much the same wheel and suspension set up that i used to have lol. The weitec's are pretty damn awesome. :D
