Drilled mine too, like everyones said dont over do the holes otherwise it sounds like a spitfire! mines got a nice growl when driving normally, and an even nicer roar when you floor it! I didnt notice much performace change, other than it revs a bit better than before, but that could be down to swapping the filter. Go for it, nothing to loose really unless you go mad with the holes.

dunno what they are but they look like they'd really suit the C, unfortunatly I think all the newer audis are 5x112 which means they wont fit :(
-
I've found that because i use turtlewax car shampoo that contains a bit of wax, unless I clean the windscreen with proper glass cleaner after i've washed the car, the wipers smear.

well they did put something on the steering wheel which i thought was for that purpose, but i wasnt sure! nevermind, if i can adjust it myself then alls well. if not do you recon i'd be within my rights to go back? -edit- Done it 8) how easy was that?
-
cheers henny! i like simple things! 8)

I've just had my tracking sorted, and to quote the guy in Tyrespot "it was a bloody MILE out mate" anyway, the car feels substantially better now, its lightened up the steering no-end! The only problem i've got is that when the steering wheel is horizontal, the wheels are actually going slightly to the right, so to drive in a straight line the steering wheel needs to be turned to the left slightly. Its something i can get used to if i have to but i'd really reather it was right! How do I adjust the wheel? is it a case of undoing the bolt, lining it up then doing the bolt up again or is there more too it? cheers.

fingers, if you do tighten it up, could i ask that you post a few pics of what you did? mines slack too and a step by step guide would go down a treat :)

Bored? On broadband? Like Corrados & Sciroccos?

A few 'questionable' paint jobs and the camera man seems to have a fetish for the wheels when the rest of the car looks more interesting, but top video all the same! -
its only taken me 11 pages to post one, but heres a pic of me looking dapper for work....

brilliant alex, I'm sure that'll help out a few people not just me! as to PhatVR6's comment, i can see where he's coming from in a way, if theres people out there stupid enough to paint their brake disc's and pads silver then anythings possible! i guess its just a case of knowing your limits, if theres a how-to posted about doing a 4WD conversion I'm damn sure i wont be trying it!

poetic license on the 'idiot' part! i dont mean the sort of person who goes into halfords asking for a bottle of 710 only to find out they'd been reading the OIL cap upside-down! which was the idea!

When I was a member of an Astra Forum (no jokes please!) they had an 'idiots guide' forum where people wrote step by step guides to doing things accompanied by photos. It was a really useful feature for people like myself who dont have the experiance that others do and dont know where to start with the basic's. I've got a feeling with some of the experts we have on here there'd be the opportunity for everyone to learn something new. Can i suggest that if anyone does something they feel might be useful to others, the take photos of the stages and give really obvious instructions? what does everyone else think of the idea?

can anyone do a 'muppets guide' for doing the brake-fluids? i'm fairly sure mine needs doing, the brakes are really vague! but i really dont know where to start being a mechanical novice. A point by point guide with photos would be useful if anyone who's posted above does theirs soon!

fk'in 'ell thats low! not a good motor for speedbumps i'm guessing, or any stones much larger than a pea! looks 8) though mate! whats the badge on the back left? -
Lovely looking burgundy VR going over the scotswood bridge in newcastle today (sunday) at about half 11, driver gave me a wave!

i always wondered what mine might look like if i crashed..now i know! (roughy!) I think i'll send one of those pics to a particularly gullible mate "look what i did! " hehehe

i really wanted the reiger spoiler/grille but had to settle for a cheaper option, wasnt sure on the bit that goes up in the middle at first either but its grown on me, especially useful if you keep the standard grille and dont want to obscure the 'VW' badge.
-
mine's a cheap copy of the kamei version, about £25 with the postage IIRC if you check back over some old posts theres loads of info on where you can get them nice and cheaply!
-
not sure on the different paints, but i recon your insurance company will tell you to take a running jump! I'd have thought even if VW use a different type of paint now they'll be able to get hold of the right one for your car....

agreed, i know its a bit weak making a point like that and not being able to come up with an realistic alternative. anyway, at least we dont live in italy.... http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=573&ncid=757&e=1&u=/nm/20040514/od_nm/odd_italy_police_dc

C without electric windows or adjustable steering?

C without electric windows or adjustable steering?
chrishill replied to chrishill's topic in General Car Chat
Its funny, I'm sure i read the elecy sunroof was an option on early cars, so the original owner of mine forked out for one 8) didnt go for the elecy windows though! tight git! -
chrisVR6NOS commented on the fact that my C has neither electric windows (not 'that' uncommon) or an adjustable steering column, and that he thought that was fairly unusual. Anyone else got a total lack of these creature comforts :( or am i the only one?

{quote]Good to see that the taxpayers money is being well spent as fun as these cars must be for the police to belt about in, I just dont see the point. Having a powerful car implys they're planning some high speed persuits which IIRC they were trying to cut down on. To be honest I'd rather my tax went towards a helecopter, reguardless of your motor you're not going to outrun that! Obviously you need some ground based police to pick the occupants of the car up after they realise theres no escape, but really, evo's??
