yeah theres some play on the bottom bolt if you take the weight off the lifter by pushing the bonnet up futher, i couldnt get in to the bolt with my socket wrench because the wire for the bonnet release was in the way! used big pliers to do it up as tight as i could, i used a big washer at the top too, the other one looked like it might fall out!

what a f**k on this was! I lost 3 screws inside the bonnet skin  i'll have to try and get them out with a magnet on a coathanger or something... looks good now its done though! 8)

theres a hole in my engine dear forum a HOLE! what the hecks this and is it ment to be there becuase it doesnt look like it is....

i like the wheels and what little you can see of the interior looks quite nice, but the rest... its a strange mix of curves and sharp edges which just doesn't work. Why do people insist on trying to round off an angular car?

had a frendly race with a megane on the way to work this morning, along a dual carrage way with a few round abouts dotted along it. It was a fairly late coupe, and i'm assuming it was one of the 2.0 16v's (140 - 150bhp) as we seemed pretty closely matched. As i turned off he flashed and waved with a big grin on his face, which was nice! perfect thing to wake you up at half 8.

i spotted what i 'think' is rust making a bubble on the front lip of my bonnet today, bit of a suprise as it was respraied not long ago and they went round sorting out all the existing rust spots...anyway, whats the best way to deal with it without buggering up my shiny paint?

mine does the same! its quite a disconcerting feeling really :| I'd been wondering what was going on with them for a while.

definatly the only way to drive them  as kvwloon said though, dont redline it...especially while overtaking renault laguna drivers who laugh at the look of panic on your face  I really could do with a shift light. -
it does say "only 5 ever made"

-
looks good on those wheels mate! 8) have you thought about getting a proper hands free phone kit and headunit remote control for it though? current system looks a bit OTT even if it does come with a nice hat

£850?

i'll guess at...... 1k? higher or lower?

chris vr6nos suggested my car would look better with a vr6 grill, and it got me thinking. I fancy a badgeless one, and i know venom sell them but it says on their site 'fits later slam panel' with mine being a 1990, what are the chances of it fitting? if it wont, where can i get one that will? ta!

thats worth looking into then, its a shame steath is so far away, i'd realy like to get down there and let them have a butchers!
-
point taken, i've not taken any of my previous cars up to anywhere near that speed so i wasnt sure what to expect.
-
thats what i mean, i dont understand why it'd just 'stop' at 5500rpm :? i'd have expected it to hit redline at least, especially as i held it there for a good half mile trying to get a little bit more out of it. Cheesy - mines got a custom exhaust, K&N and drilled box Chris - good job theres a good supply of friendly private road owners up here ;) we need to get together about your site soon mate, gimme a shout.
-
just been testing my car on a private road, i got to 120mph with the revs sitting at a steady 5500, and it would go no futher, roads nice and flat, no funny engine noises, but thats all it'd give me. Is that about normal? seems a bit low to me...
-
i did about 10 holes, 12mm diameter. It burbles nicely with the throttle fully open, and has a subtle growl the rest of the time. I've not noticed any change in MPG, nothing drastic anyway, but then my MFA's never shown accurate figures anyway!
-
yeah there have been a few horror stories about drilling, just drill the side closest to the wing and dont go OTT with the holes, makes a bit more noise but it gets more air in, which is good! I had to stop myself going crazy with them, you just get the 'more holes = goes better' idea stuck in your head, which isnt strictly true!

thats definatly the general opinion from what i've read on here, dunno about the induction kit for the golf! seems a bit strange if there is one as they're (as far as i know!) the same engine. Theres probably some way you can fit an induction kit with loads of heatsheilding that would get you better results, but it'd cost loads and you might not gain much over the drilled box/K&N method.
-
cant wait to see the finished motor, it looked pretty good before any of the work started, and from the sounds of things you've kept it subtle but effective, the way it should be! i dunno about anyone else, but i love these threads where we can watch peoples projects evolve, thanks for sharing henny mate!

i guess it depends on your budget really, dont view the 16v as a 'soft' option, they're still fairly rapid, but definatly go for the g60 if you can afford it 8) either way, you'll be gatting a great car.
