Whats you favourite looking modified corrado? Pics please..
chrishill replied to biggerbigben's topic in General Car Chat
this one of my fav's, very simple but it just looks so good! (and its red :D) -
i've got some magnat classic 6x9's on my original shelf and they're just about as heavy as 6x9's get! (possibly) the shelf can definaly take the weight, its pretty solid so no real worries, only thing i'd be concerned about is the shelf-straps, but mine have been fine, they seem fairly tough and are cheap to replace. Obviously having big holes in your shelf is going to effect things when you sell, and 2nd hand shelves are rare so MDF might be the way to go. I just chopped holes in the original to save myself the effort. I'll deal with the holes when i eventually sell!

funny, they normally look like coupes....

148bhp for the non turbo up to 1989, 197 for the turbo which was introduced in 89, so really it could have been either!

sounds like a job for.... Pink Pather and the mystery of the last storm! -
number 500 apparently, very low milage, but nearly 11k is a bit steep! http://www.exchangeandmart.co.uk/fulladview/fulladview.php?id=uap-em-rcp3-20040116/cars/-101/78-4/3290243.txt~Car~ixmcars30117~UAP&code=b43bd76a6aaebbf1747bc8222fc20731

thats smart! rear lights have a bit of a peugeot feel to them, and the whole back end reminds me very much of a porker 928, i think its the way the glass carries on the curve of the roof. have to agree with VRev6 on the lights though.

try http://www.dvla-som.co.uk/home/ my boss got his from there, apparently on most other sites they charge you for the transfer, but if you get it directly from the DVLA the transfer is included in the price. might save you a bit of cash :)

good stuff, you have mail! (que a flood of 'my new lights' posts in the member galleries!)

are they the half smoked or fully smoked units? wouldnt mind a set if they're half smoked!
-
bit of a big photo but... and IMHO sticking to something a simular shape to the original pipe looks best. Just wish mine sat a little higher.

hes probably out selling his soul to pay for the 350z!

my dad works for nissan, when i was looking around for car before i got the C i looked at the older shape 200sx's and he told me a story about two blokes he works with. One of them owed a 200sx and was going away on holiday, and the other guy drove him to the airport. In return the 200sx owner let him borrow the car while he was away. IIRC the guy was used to driving a micra, so was fairly chuffed until....he went to overtake a van, booted it, and before he could pull out to go round the van he went into the back of it! bloody rapid by all accounts, but to me they've aged quite alot and dont have the same retro appeal that the C does.

anyone got pics of a corrado with a mesh grill

hows this? -
mines a G plate 16ver and its got a factory sunroof, but i think you're right in that they didnt have them as standard. there was, according to the recent top gear feature it was introduced as a 'cheap' option to try and encorage sales as the vr6 was too expensive. As for the 16v's being gutless, probably, compared to a g60 or vr6 but they still shift! :D ---- just checked parkers.co.uk - 2.0 8v from 94-95 with 115bhp. with a one year production run and that sort or 'performace' i wouldnt expect there to be many about!

go for it kev, i had mine done and i think it finishes things off nicely. I've not got any close up pics unfortunatly...

from reading other posts its dead easy (bodyshop just left mine off when it was resprayed) They're glued on, but you have to heat them a little so the glue softens and it doesnt take any paint off, then a bit of elbow grease to get the rest of the glue off. keep in mind the paint underneith may have faded depending on the colour of you car. Do a search for 'door strips' 'bump strips' and 'rubbing strips' you're sure to find all the advice you need.

I'm sure alot of people will give you the same advice stormseeker gave you, and i've about to give you....dont except their first offer! pester the hell out of them until you get what it would cost to buy a car in the same condition of the same age. As stormseeker said get evidence from autotrader and as many other places as you can and make sure they dont use parkers 'list price' as its not an accurate reflection of how much it would cost to replace the car. as an example for you, my previous car was a mk4 astra which got written off, it was 11months old and worht 12k new, 1st offer - £6900, after a weeks worth of pestering and a 10 page fax of 'evidence' i got just over £9000.

I dont think it was to do with the cat, the shop i went to is 'revolution' in newcastle (0191 4770785) we looked through their parts catalogue and found all the non-cat exhausts, the scorpian was one, the other one they had was a peco. if you give them a ring they might be able to get you a part number.
-
I tried to get the 'boxer' style one for mine, when they came to fit it, it made contact with the boot floor and would have knocked horribly. Mines a non-cat 1.8 16v too so they definatly do one, if you can get it to fit or not is another matter. I think a few people on here have them and have fitted them without problems but i'm not sure if they're cat or non-cat.
-
powerflow seems to vary depending on which branch you use, I know the one in newcastle has a very bad name with systems rusting within a few months and every car sounding virtually the same be it a fiesta or a corrado, which cant be good! Have you looked around for an independant company? thats how i got mine done, £300 all in for a full system and its spot on.

I had a huge dent in the rear quarter panel of my last car, kindly provided by some idiot in tescos carpark (they also kindly bu*gered off leaving me to foot the bill) It was a much worse dent than yours jason, cost me £300 to get it repaired by, as i found out later, one of the most expensive bodyshops in the area! anyway, my point is it should be easlily fixable by a good bodyshop, and AFAIK they just knocked the dent back out and resprayed.

same here, its the only place i could find for it! although i'm not very happy with how secure it feels, the wooden boards on the backs of the seat seem fairly thin. I've also noticed recently that with the sound up loud my sub makes the amp rattle against the bars on the back of the seat, so i'm going to try putting some felt or something between the back of the amp and the bars to see if that helps.

the pump priming just sounds like a short dull 'hum' doesn't it? I've heard it before, but i've not specificly listened when i'm having problems starting it, i'll have to check. as for the plugs, they were replaced at the last service, 4000 miles ago by a VW dealer so i 'assume' they're bosch? I'll check on that too.
