from what i head the k&n kit can actually can cause power losses (10bhp or more according to some sites!) but i reckon combining it with some cold air ducting through the hole where the carbon canister was, and a decent heat shield should see me actually getting some gains. on the plus side i've noticed my mpg is better with the k&n on, getting 17mpg on the 1 mile trip to work rather than the 11mpg i was getting before.

erm... only if i take the k&n off! ;)
-
well having just changed it I can tell you the standard airbox is much much quieter, although theres still a little bit of a bark.
-
its a standard exhaust with a k&n cone, it was recorded from the passenger seat with the windows up!

yup thats about right! its actually not too bad with the windows up, i can see it being 'tolerable' although noisy, with the windows down its just defening... but i like it ;) -

fitted a k&n kit tonight, bit annoied that the provided bracket is obviously supposed to be used with an extra bit of pipe (not supplied) but thems the ebay breaks i guess. its cable-tied in position til i can sort out a solution. I 'know' i'll not have gained anything powerwise by putting it in, so a heatsheild and cold air feed are planned to try and help it get some lovely cold air. best thing about it though... the noise is mental!! during normal driving it just sounds a little more gruff, but boot it and HOLY SH**!!! I can see my petrol consumption going up tenfold with this thing on... -
are golf country's rare? i've only ever seen one... (sort of looks like a mk1 monster truck)
-
is it? well okey dokie then! :) just wanted to clear that one up ;)

not wanting to bait another tirade but isnt the CTR 2.0 turbo? how is it impressive that a 2.0 turbo has the same torque as a 2.0 N/A?

any ideas why my profile doesnt show up in 'england' or 'englands north' even though they're both set as locations in my profile?

Massive instability under braking & spin. Oh dear.

that wouldnt be the nasty left turn onto the duel carragway towards the tyne bridge would it? if so check the 2nd rail up on the outside of the bend, you should see a stripe of red paint about 4ft long (probably more pink than red now) that was me about 2 years ago! spanked astra -

just trying to get my head around this one, you were on a right hander and the back spun anticlockwise when you braked? are you sure you didnt turn the wheel at the same time? I just cant figure out how it spun in the oposite directon to where the load would be placed! in my mind, when turning right it'd be the offside that'd be under load and the near side that'd be light, so for the car to side to the near side the load must have shifted. did you lock up then spin or anything like that? -
AFAIK haldex

an original, un-modified, unmolested nova. saw one of those alfa's on a garage forcourt near phatvr6's... which is a point! i've seen a 4wd r32 engine'd corrado! :D only one in the world...

the first pic in this post shows one end of the MAF. I'm no g60 expert, but i'd do as stormVR6 says first and check your ISV, they quite often need cleaning out if they've not been done before and they're MUCH cheaper to replace (if needed) than the MAF. do a search for g60 ISV and you're bound to turn up some things to try.
-
HOW shiny? :) looks good mate, how long you had it?
-
MFA is the dash computer thing, MAF is part of the air intake system (behind the airbox on a VR, not sure about a g60) and measures the airflow into the engine, adjusting fuel accordingly - in basic terms at least! look for something that from the outside looks like a normal air intake pipe, but has a plug connector on it. once its off it has gauze at either end (see pic) and something in the middle that sort of looks like a lightbulb element.
-
thanks kev, pm on its way to you. nosky-chris did that test on the MAF and it was showing those voltages, so it does appear to be working properly. the jerking (of the car! ;)) seems to have gone, although I'm not sure its related to anything we fiddled with. hopefully its gone for good, but I've probably just done a murry walker... I know i'm coming off as a hypocondriac-by-proxy and maybe just a little paranoid

if you put them on you HAVE to lower it. a standard vr on 17's looks like a dune buggy so god knows what 18's would be like!

g-mans 4 door corrado... alive again (update13/11/05)

seriously amazing how a few visible mods can transform a rep-mobile into a pimp-mobile! whats been done then... lowered, porsche wheels, colour coded, badgeless grille and removed front numberplate recess... anything I missed? -
changed the cambelt tensioner for a nice shiny polished one with new bearings (although not as nice and shiny as lee wouldhave it ;)).
