yeah, it was jerking, but seems to have stopped... haunted corrado i think
-
i've no idea TBH, i just changed the cambelt tensioner and took the airbox/maf out for a bit more room, looked in the end and there was the hole! its on the manifold side, which is a bit odd since its the oposite direction to the airflow... looks like someones stuck their finger in it at some point. still idles and drives ok, so hopfully its alright.
-
well from what i could see inside it all looked ok, but 'something' made a hole in there, so i'm guessing the internals didnt escape without at least a little damage...
-
broken maf? what do you reckon?
-
looks like a good 'un! no sunroof? or is it just invisible in those pics?
-
yup, and we have the added bonus that hardly anyone on the forum has them... yet! A20 LEE used to have a set, and I've seen 2 others on vwvortex with them but thats it, suprising really since they suit the car so well.
-
they look cracking mate, without a doubt my favorite wheel for the corrado 8) did they have any problems getting them on?

Possible Turbo & Supercharged Golf coming out!!!!
chrishill replied to Spykee's topic in General Car Chat
I worked it out properly when i first got the car, to be fair that time it came out at about 28mpg, but everytime I check setting 2 on the MFA before i reset it after filling up, its at about 25mpg. I'll have to work it out again, i think we've already established elsewhere theres summit up with my car somewhere along the lines. -

i've no idea how some people manage 30+mpg in their VR's, mines constantly in the mid 20's even when i drive like a saint. -
AFAIK, like the corrado, they were all made by karmann
-
sunroof/spoiler shouldn't be 'too' hard to fix i wouldnt have thought, and while it probably wont add thousands to the value of the car it'll deffinatly stop people being disuaded from buying, as for the rattly windows, every corrado i've been in (save for my old valver with its keep-fit windows) does the same, so its not a major flaw that'd put anyone off. its a late car with a rebuilt engine, heated leather... quite desirable i'd say! I'd pay around the £4500-5000 mark for something like that.

... 8 years ago? styling hasnt changed much in all that time then has it, unless it was just very ahead of its time

i think its about time someone posted a definative wheel/tyre guide and got it stickied, seems like alot of the same questions keep coming up! a nice guide explaining offsets, correct tyre sizes, widths and so on would be good.
-
x8 is the width, ie 8" wide. it depends on the offset too though, the lower the number, the further out the wheel sticks. IIRC the standard offset on a g60 is about 35, so look for wheels around that to ensure you dont have problems. the offset is generally referanced as 'et', so you'll be looking for 'et35' or as close as you can get to it.

VW Corrado Limited edition 1989-1995 book
chrishill replied to HiAsAKite's topic in General Car Chat
wtf? -
was he actually drifting at any point there or did he just pull the handbrake on to lock the wheels up? didnt see any evidence of sideways action, just evidence of stupid american kids, they looked about 12!
-
look at it this way, the new GTI has, on paper, simular performance to a vr6. the bodystyle may be different (ie hatch not coupe) but by all reports it handles VERY well, goes like the clappers and is pretty comfortable... all the things the corrado was praised for when it was launched, and how much was a new vr6? £23k? 10 years ago? thats got to equate to £30k+ in todays terms. Personally i'd never pay that much for a car, but as new cars go, its not 'that' badly priced.

f'ing about is what makes it interesting! come on kev, you're the king of f'ing about with your car! ;)
-
just for you, i went and took a couple of snaps. the lighter orange bit is where it was ground back, even taking about 4mm off leaves very very little clearance. you can see the problem in the first pic, if its not ground back the spokes WILL catch... ouch...
-
it should just slide forwards a few mm then the back (lock end) should come out of the bodywork allowing you to get the front out. - edit - dont forget to disconnect the cable! maybe its a bit short and isnt allowing the handle the freedom of movement it needs?
-
yup, they're going to be in friday ;)
-
could it be the rocker cover gasket? mine leaks a little, i assume they just get old and tired like any other rubber gasket...
-
fortunatly i've got the assitance of a couple of people who know what they're doing, if i'd done it myself i proabably would have lost a few fingers and set fire to something! after seeing it done though, it looked fairly easy.
