chrishill replied to chrishill's topic in Engine Bay
yeah dutch it doesnt look too much like my current one either, but from reading other threads on the topic it looks like anything ending in 461 should work so long as the connection on the loom fits... yup jay, if its not right its yours mate -
timing chains = ££££, sounds about fair, might as well ask for a quote to change the clutch too while they're at it

cool, if he doesnt deliver i can threaten to send the mad welshman round! ;) -
as the title says... I saw it with about 1min to go, knew the MAF in my VR ended in '461' so grabbed it since it was cheap on the off-chance its going to work. Am I right in thinking any MAF ending with 461 is going to be ok or am i looking at relisting this and chalking any loss up to experiance? ok, so basically anything electrical or thats used as an 'entry' to the engine. what about the altinator? i might look into steam cleaning depending on how much effort this is going to be Vs the cost of a proper steam clean.

My dad's just bought one of those portable pressure washer thingys from halfords and I thought I might borrow it to give my engine bay the once over. Is this a good idea? is there anything i can damage by getting it wet? anything else I should be doing before blasting it with water to loosen the muck?

hmmm, while it sounds nice i prefer the whine of a charger and if i was in a position to fit one or the other i know which I'd go for every time.
-
aye according to the figures, but has anyone gone up against an r32? i've a feeling the VR might get a 'bit of a spanking' off one of those.

well played fella, never had a doubt ;)

well, if you want £2300 for yours, and his is worth a generous £1000 (looking at autotrader for average prices) it works out about right if he gives you his car and a grand, in fact he gets a pretty good deal!
-
i'd say his car plus a grand...
-
thats a gran-turismo misconception, having been in a vr with a vastly lightened flywheel i can assure you you wont notice the difference.
-
