    Rx2 centre caps

They probably are but the thought of how much they will prob be charging for them makes me shudder :-)
  2. Poole is the place to be! I live on canford Heath, where a outs are you guys at, never see any around but this forum suggests there are loads of c owners in Dorset....
  3. Slight hijack (apologies), just wondered wht size tyres you are running on those?

    Rx2 centre caps

Not common sizes for fake ones on the bay then :-(

    Rx2 centre caps

Hi can anyone confirm what size caps fit rx2. Measuring looks like it is 60mm, well that's the closest I can find on the bay. Hopefully these fit and I don't need 'real' ones from the dealer. Can't for the life of me find the ones that came with the wheels!
  6. being from poole as well my initial though was upton country park, but i guess there are probably a few others around!
  7. Cool, forgot to say its for drivers side if that makes any difference? Can you let me know a price.. Cheers!
  8. Hurrah. It was number 3 on Tony's list. It was the piece of trim above the rear window, wasn't on properly. I have now put double sided sticky foam along it and pushed it down properly into position. No more rattle, not even when the subs in the boot are at full chat. Another little job that can be ticked off :-)
  9. just taken this off my car to put the original one back on, small wheels aren't really my thing, plus i'm weak and can't turn the wheels ;-) looking for £35 posted. wheel is in ok condition but does need putting on the boss in the right position, the way it is on there means the indicator returns dont return when they should. One of the screws holding the wheel to the boss as got something stuck in it so if you wanted to separate the two you would need to drill it out. has functioning horn switch.
  10. do you have the little bit of trim on the door card that the door pin goes through? also need the rod with the thread on that the door pin screws on to... thanks for getting back to me re the door btw
  11. no idea if i was exceptionally lucky but i didn't have a problem they all came out pretty easily. I have read online of people having problems ending up with needing stuff drilled out.
  12. you always hear on forums of places doing wheel refurbs for cheap money, say £30-40, i've never found one anywhere close to that! it probably is cheaper to take them to some inductrial unit and get the powder coated but they aren't going to do anything else to your wheel it terms of repair. i left a pretty good key on the wheels so hoping it doesn't chip. I did this to some sebrings using the satin finish and never had any issues. that said i did leave the tyres on those so no idea if when i do the rx rims that will get chipped off when i get tyres fitted!
  13. here are the centres of my bbs done with hammerite smooth not perfect mainly down to the environment i have to work in, but good enough for winter duties. Tonight's job is to do the other two
  14. i've had problems in the past when mixing and matching primers, paints and lacquer from different companies, unless you know what to look for in the 'ingredients' you might end up getting adverse reactions.
  15. could be but didnt you say the CL doesn't work from either door? if thats the case i'd have thought its unlikely both handle switches are duff. when i fitted new door handles i was paranoid about the wiring fouling on the mechanism when you use the handle as that wire to the handle does look like it could be pulled out easily. have you got an alarm with remote locking, have you checked the connections that link from it into the CL wiring? after some fiddling with some wires near the fuse box one day I think found that I couldn't operate the CL from the drivers door, passenger still worked. Turned out to be a dodgy splice by alarm fitter...
  16. thanks for the replies guys, i'll work through the lists. i just thought it was strange that both i've had have made the same sound!
  17. as has been said polishing properly will take an age to get to the mirror finish you are no doubt after, and as soon as winter hits they will look pap unless you get teh autosol on them every weekend. i'm in the process of refurbing some BBS RX2, original plan was to polish the rim, i spent ages doing one little section and it still wasn't how i wanted so decided to just paint it instead. If you are going to paint them I really recommend Hammerite Smooth. it is less than £9 a tin from Halfords (strangely the cheapest place to buy it!), you won't need a primer or a lacquer so saves money there again. Its really easy to use and results in a very durable high gloss finish. I have also used the satin finish with equally good results. This may be true of all paint but it is also a fly magnet! so be careful if you are spraying them outside as the flies will jump on it in seconds! (can you sense experience talking here!?)
  18. anyone else get an annoying rattle from the boot area? plasticky sound, a bit creaky, seems to come from the parcel shelf. I have had this on both corrados i've owned and have never been able to successfully source its origin. Surely they all do this I can't have been unlucky twice! cheers!
  19. Somebody on here posted they had about 5k to spend on a C, that would get my money....
  20. That's really useful cheers. First impression is that the one fitted to my car is the larger one. Now I know where to scrape to see the part number I'll try and confirm later. Thanks again
  21. Yes I have complete black setup including the surround....
  22. you need to take the door cards off, easy to do, just a few screws on the sides and a couple behind the handle. if your inner plastic membrane is still intact you need to peel it back from the lock side forward. You will see a loom clipped to the metal of the door, has three wires going to it. one end of this loom goes up to the exterior door handle, the other end is where the problem lies. if you trace it back you will quickly come to the point where vw decided to bodge it and splice wires. peel back the covering so you can see the wires. When i did this the wires just turned to green dust! Strip it all back to good metal and then reconnect and give it a very thorough going over with insulation tape. this worked for me, as i said it was both doors that needed the treatment. tbh now i read this again i doubt this is your issue but certainly worth checking.
