  1. For me a DSG would be awesome. As well as the autos ineffeciencies (Sp) I just dont like the lack of control. It changes up when you want to go just that little bit faster and plunges you forward and then dosent always downshift as much as I would like. Maybe I'm being too demanding and I have learnt to drive around it to a point but I'll never get on with it like a manual, plus as you say you can feel it sap power, it does for me anyway unless you just floor it, then it still leaps forward but you cant do that all the time. Anyway back on topic, I'm assuming no-one has even considered this before, which is why I've never bothered enquiring about it before. Has the mk4 R32 got any sort of auto option on it?
  2. Yep something I would be interested in too. The 24v route would be tempting if something major happened to the 12v but I've wondered about the auto box issues too. TBH it wouldnt hurt if there was a better box, its hardly the best autobox out there.
  3. Car looks top! Glad they treated you well, I've heard some less than impressive use of cars for programmes such as this in the past. Keep us posted on when its on, will defo watch it.
  4. I've just picked up some rear calipers from an A3 to put on. I was in the process of giving them a quick clean up when I remembered that the missus has an ultrasonic bath at work. Probably a really stupid question but would it hurt the piston seals if I left them in whilst I gave them a quick bath? Cheers.
  5. Red one going out of Wentowrth village in Rotherham this lunchtimeish. Think it was the same one I saw the other week heading into Greasbrough at the top of Carr house hill. Was very clean on both occasions.
  6. I was the L reg blackberry! I gave a quick toot on the horn as you pulled off. Had a great afternoon at Stanford, good show.
  7. For what its worth I prefer the original lights too! Looks a nice car though. :salute:
  8. Black H plate in the cineworld car park Sheffield last night. Looked very clean and tidy, very nice!
  9. That was probably me mate - I was going though Buxton at around 4PM on thursday afternoon. Wondered if I'd been spotted on my round country trip :D Yep that sounds about right and looking at your avatar pic it was defo you! I was in my white G40 so not in the Corrado. Some top roads round there althought the weather on Thursday was rubbish!
  10. Spotted a dark coloured C in Buxton on Thursday (9th April) I think it was. On the roundabout just down from the Palace hotel. Also saw a Storm in Lydiate on Good Friday evening around the corner from my girlfriends parents house. I'm sure its a forum members car as I recognised the wheels. Not sure on what they are though. Was quite a suprise as we walked round the corner and there was a storm parked up on the side of the road! Edited to say I think its spelt Lydiate, its near Maghull anyway!
  11. It appears that the price has been put up on the ttshop site. The £83 was including postage so quite annoying that they've put it up to dealer price. Might as well get them from the dealers now unless your dealer is miles away. They do work well though, its such a good idea having things that clear water away on the windscreen when it rains. Why didnt VW think of that! :D
  12. Last year someone followed me to the garage and offered me £6k for mine, after i told him the mileage and only two previous owners. so its not all doom & gloom. Actually he WANTED an auto, with leather and aircon and there are not so many around. Exact spec of my car! Only mod is the magnex exhaust and it shall be staying that way too most probably. It is a case of supply and demand though, and look at cars like Kip's. Cant see that going for low daft money anytime soon.
  13. Thats it, I'm definetely replacing mine when I change the radiator! I'm changing the pulley tensioner and belt on that side anyway. At least it didnt cause you some serious grief!
  14. Thanks to pete_griff for the radiator. Very quick delivery and brilliant to deal with. Same for Kur2y for his headlight loom and Daves16v for the headlight switch repair kit, G60Karmann for a headlight lense and SteVW1 for a bonnet cable. Also Sparks turned up to pick a steering wheel up from a mate at a RR just as he said he would. All transactions have gone very smoothly on this forum for me so far. No daft prices for stuff either which is a nice change on a VW forum.
  15. No negative results but you'll just not be making the best of the porting. If your apex seals were worn though it will probably just feel more lively due to being serviced.
  16. Don’t ask me why but different chargers sound different. Some seem to be deep and rumbly and others more whiney. I suppose some of it does depend on how they are ported or the size of the pulley. Of course on toothies they sound different again but that’s down to the pulley. All I meant as in cheap with regard to porting is that if you think you are going to get it ported at some point in the future its worthwhile paying for it now whilst its off the car and in pieces rather than going through the whole process again. I’m not sure bhp wise the difference but it will be worth doing when combined with a chip and pulley for sure. Also just for future, I would also recommend changing the small timing belt on the charger once a year. They are common to snap and then its new charger time. If you are waiting any time before having it rebuilt I would be tempted to swap it now with that mileage on it too.
  17. If you get a standard rebuild it will be ok with a smaller pulley but you'll notice more difference from putting the pulley on if its ported. I recently swapped my chargers over and put my less heavily ported one on and could notice a difference. Of course a freshly rebuilt charger could be better than a tired ported one if the apex seals are worn and not sealing correctly. In my mind if you are going to get the charger serviced you may as well get it ported too, its not that expensive as I recall. I have rebuilt my own charger in the past but I wouldnt dream of porting one, I'm not that skillful. A friend showed my how to do it too, it can be done but just warn the girlfriend/wife/mother etc that you arent cooking her dinner and that its your charger casings in the oven! As for the G wekes/jabba question I'd personally go with G werks I've heard some dodgy stuff about Jabba but then another company who I trusted completely wasnt all it cracked up to be recently it seems.
  18. Yep I've noted down every litre of fuel thats gone in. I like to do it to keep tabs on economy, its a good indicator if anything is wrong for a start if the MPG plummets. Its also handy to note dates and mileages of part changes so you can see when they are due for replacement or when oil changes are due etc. I soon loose track especially with my G to look after too.
  19. I’d be careful if just buying normal sockets though. The one I bought was deeper so it fit over the connection on the end, my normal socket wouldn’t do it.
  20. I managed to get a socket in there when I changed mine late last year. I got the socket from my local motor factors and it actually said on it 'temp switch socket' or something along those lines. It is cramped but with the right extension length on I managed to undoe and tighten and I've got aircon too. Was about 6 quid for the one socket though.
  21. I've just bought my TT wipers from the TTShop.com. Ordered them on Friday and they said they'd be sent Monday and they duly arrived Tuesday. Fitted them tonight and whilst I've not got them quite lined up spot on yet the difference is clear in even the very lightest of rain. They came to £83 delivered and if you ring up they will send you two drivers side ones, (the girl who answered the phone knew exactly what I wanted). The part numbers matched up with what Kev provided. It was brill coming home down some country lanes with a screen not covered in smears and with my recent addition of some new bulbs and K2urky headlight loom a good spread of light too! Could see exactly where I was going, what a revelation. Cheers again Kev and Corrado Forum.
  22. Bloody outside wheel weights on it though! Does look good still.
  23. TBH I used to use the Hillsborough one more than that one as I could bob out of work and lunch and pop down but now they've moved it all the way to bloody meadowhead I'll use it more. There is an older guy I deal with more than anyone at Wickersley and he is a nice enough chap but really doesnt know what he is doing at all. Got me completely the wrong part in, only after trawling etka myself and researching on here did I get anywhere with it. Its a bit of a bugger I find when you know the system they are using better than they do. To be fair to them though I do find it a lot more complicated getting even the simplest part for the Corrado than I have for my Golf or Polo's. I cant see them offering this for long, people like us will never have any work done by them and just get our free MOT and bugger off.
