perfect thanks for the advice!

nope the cage is staying solid and just the unit is coming out, its literally tight on the cable so i can only presume that the ISO/Harness is jammed down the back somewhere thus not allowing me to get the unit fully out.......im a tad suspect as to how its been wired to be honest as i have no sound to the front right speaker at all (wondering if someone has previously yanked at the unit to try and remove and pulled a cable out of the block (i have tried fade and bal etc)) whilst on the subject when i got the car all the fade was to front and i later found that the rears have blown, any recommendations for decent replacements that will fit? dont want to break the bank as i have a lot of work to do on the car over winter to get it show ready for next year and have a baby on the way.

i should have thought about thatbe fore i posted this........run outside to realize i came to work in van.........go through photos to try find out..........still no joy so all i can tell you is that its an alpine CDE series with ipod interface.........

Having issues in the Corrado VR, the head unit has never fitted correctly since i got the car (it wont slide in all the way) the other day i had a proper look checking there was no wiring etc in the way at the back but when i came to pull it out it will only come out so far i.e. the back of the unit is still just inside the dash. I removed the heater control unit to try and get a better look at the wiring and it seems that the plugs are somehow wedged in so my first question is how easy is the center console to remove and second are there any units that have a smaller depth than others?

Dark colour rado in duco car park on the Tyne......mate spotted it

I cant see how a high quality breathable cover should trap moisture and as the car its red i would much rather keep it out of UV light etc, of course the car wont be under cover 100% of the time as it can be moved into the garage to be worked on etc and also it would be dried if it was ever to get wet. my only concern was down to scratching in wind etc but it would seem that ones with soft liners are fairly safe.
-
Thanks for that southie, only issue I can see with that one is that it isn't soft lined or have I missed this somewhere
-
This winter I have no garage to store the rado whilst I work so I need a high quality car cover to protect the car over winter and one that is soft lined and breathable, If anyone has any recommendations it would be greatly appreciated Rob

As the car is being used as a wedding car tomorrow to transport the groom to the venue I went to town with the cleaning and also finally got round to making a required subtle change to the rear end of the car......can you see the change lol Also got round to getting my interior plastics looking like they came from the factory so just need a new gear knob now Not much progress to be fair but thought I would post anyway ---------- Post added at 7:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 7:03 PM ---------- Just noticed how crap the pics are, better to follow tomorrow bloody phone

Ok sound think i will just change them all if im taking them off anyway, these gaskets don't use any sealant like the sump do they?
-
yeah i like to get things from the dealer anyhow........cheers. i presume one i take the inlet manifold off i will also require new gaskets for that?
-
thats all i needed to know! mine is leaking from the half moon
-
thanks robbo, i will get one ordered up
-
ah ok thanks, well as mine is 93 im presuming that it is OB1 however i have no idea of the difference between the two, i will have to check later if i have a metal or plastic one. Cheers

OOSSHHHHHH so tempted but think the wife would hang me and cut off my goolies, the words "this will not help us buy the house" would no doubt be muttered

Am i correct in thinking that there are two different rocker cover gaskets for the VR6, on the suits cars up to 1995 and another for just 1995 year? I thought that there was just 1 type but after posting on ED38 to find out where the oil was coming from i was told there was two different types....... I think i need partnumber; 021103483D (thats what shows on vagcat) My VR is a 93 and has a slight weep on the rocker cover that i need to sort over winter along with all the usual bits and bobs so im just starting to source parts now. Cheers

Droplinks that actually fit and are cheaper than the dealers.

Thought there would be more to this story than just droplinks............... -
Anybody done or doing degree in Mechanical Engineering ??
timthetinyhorse replied to emu's topic in Off-topic Chat
I may be able to help you here but i need more info i.e. are you currently studying mechanical engineering at degree level or are you at college doing a lower course? Its very hard to recommend courses unless we know what modules your degree covers and if it contains any practical experience/a year placement (i served my time then did my degree alongside my job) as if so its very likely things such as COSHH and a lot of the IOSH would be covered there before you were even allowed onto an operational site. I have to disagree, i used to get two full suspension bikes, with wheels etc, a weekends riding kit and two of us in my lupo :-)

all seems a bit weird that the ride is poor since fitting aswel, have you had a look under the car? -

Is this car on stock suspension? fail to see how new droplinks could destroy tyres......did you have the alignment checked after doing the work? -
