Ah that's pretty cool, speedlines in 16" would be the perfect choice. How much are they charging if you don't mind me asking? I'm not going to be buying for a little while as I was made redundant a few months ago :( but any help in the meantime is appreciated. Cheers!

I am thinking of going for some 16" wheels next, but want to keep my car looking as stock as possible. I love the look of speedlines but what them to fill the arches abit more, so 16" would be ideal. I know that a corrado owner's group got together in America (I think?) and got Speedline to make some one off 16" special editions, but these will be impossible to get hold of! I know you can buy Scooby 17" speedies, but I'm a picky sod and I'd like 16"! These are some wheels that I've found that look pretty similar to Speedlines, but are available in 16". Which ones do you think look the best/closest? Cheers! :D

Hi, A few days ago the dipped beam on my VR6 began to flicker everynow and again and now it was stopped working all together! If I want to use full beam I can only do so if I hold the steering column stalk towards me so it stays on. The greeny light on the headlight switch was also fickering in sync with the headlights. I've tried having a look at the connections at the back of the headlights but they all seem fine, the next thing I can think to do is to take the headlights off and clean up the connections. Everynow and again the dipped beam will come on again, but it's very unreliable. I'm getting tired of driving around with only my sidelights and fogs on! Has anybody else experienced this problem? Any help appreciated! Cheers.

The longest trip I've done is the first day I got it, drove it home from Scotland to S.London!

I often think about what my next car will be after the VR and it's tough!! There aren't many cars that appeal on so many levels like my VR6. It's rare, reliable, cool as fcuk, looks good, sounds amazing, handles like a dream, is equally at home on the motorway or country backroads and is pretty quick. Oh and I love the interior build quality (compared to my mates Scooby anyway!). I usually come to the conclusion that the money is better spent on getting my C mint and having the engine rebuilt and supercharged! I have thought about E36/E46 M3s but they are soo common and no where near as iconic. They are faster though. 944 Turbo will probably be less reliable than the VR, sound no where near as good and is not as versitile. They do look cool though and are very rare thesedays. E39 M5 AWESOME engine and 400bhp! definately a serious contender but I'd have to drive one as they are a very heavy car and I'd like to see how it drives. On the downside you see E39s everywhere, albeit not Ms. The only car that I know I'd like to own after the VR is a BMW M coupe (Z3 breadvan!) as it is everything I see in the Corrado but faster :D

Absolulety awesome rebuild! You will effectively have a brand new Corrado! I envy you :)

My VR runs at about 100 oil and about 95 water I think. I'v heard of oil temperatures reaching 130 on spirited drives from some members on here. That's my 2p worth!

Seeing vids like that makes me want to get a faster car!

I plan to change the radiator on my VR6 this week as the old one has sprung a leak. Whilt I'm there I'm thinking of changing the thermostat for peace of mind as the engine is still on it's original (1995, 121,000). I've seen this one on the Awesome site and it says it allows the engine to run at lower temperatures. Has anybody fitted one of these? Is it a difficult job? http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.ph ... 89&xSec=86 Any help or advice appreciated! :)

It looks good, have you got anymore pics? Did they bolt straight on without any rubbing?

It's a damn shame you are thinking about selling, that is an awesome looking car and in my opinion a Mk1 TT is a bit of a bender mobile. Despite them being very good value for money i shall never buy one, they are just too batty! Plus i must see about 8 a day on the roads compared to about 2 Corrados a month if I'm lucky! Saying that i know what you mean about Corrados feeling old, it's not until you get into a modern car do you realise how rickety and creaky you car actually is and i know that one day i'll crave for a new car where I don't have to worry so much about listening for new noises :D

Is your Corrado the most unreliable car you've ever owned?
carter711 replied to Jay2's topic in General Car Chat
My Corrado is definatley the most special car i have owned, so i have been paying more attention to its state of tune and as a result i spend more money on keeping it running sweetly. It has done over 120,000 miles and is coming up to 14 years old so i have to expect a few things need replacing now and again. At the moment i can't think of anything i want to replace it with except for an E36 M3 but you see them or 'reps' all over the place, plus i don't like the BMW owner stereotype. I love my Corrado :D -
VR6 leaking it's coolant all the time! New rad needed!
carter711 replied to carter711's topic in Engine Bay
How do you get a discount from VW to get the rad at £180? Does anyone know who makes the VW rad? At the moment the options are either buy one from VW or but one from Euro Car Parts at £150. I wondering if there will much difference in the rads. -
That is mighty fly!!

After having a pressure test done on my cooling system it would seem i have a pinhole leak on my radiator, my car keeps on leaking its coolant pretty much everytime i drive it and topping it up with antifreeze all the time is getting expensive!!! So i need to get it sorted.... VW have quoted me £196 + VAT for a new one, does anyone know of anywhere i can buy the same for cheaper? Or, how much might a re-core cost? I think i'm going to replace the thermostat whilst i am there, they aren't very expensive. Any tips or advice etc very much appreciated. Cheers!

other things to consider when lowering the corrado!!

This is an interesting thread, I'm going keep an eye on it :) -
That headlight mod looks quite good, i am due to take my headlights apart this weekend so i may try the look with a small line of electrical tape to see what it looks like. Have you got the modified console back yet?
-
Cheers Lufbramatt, I'm going to be doing this over the weekend so will buy some silicone sealant. Regarding the discs and pads, i tried a few places but in the end went to my local VW dealer and got 2 front discs and pads for £127 which i thought wasn't too bad for genuine items.

Cheers for the help, very useful! :)

I took my VR6 for its MOT test today, it clearly hadn't beedn revising as it failed on worn front discs and a steamed up headlight :( Is there an easyway to clear the moisture from the headlight? I haven't had a good look yet but can you take the headlight apart? Also, does anyone know of anywhere that does well priced Corrado discs? I live near Croydon if that's any help. Any help appreciated!

Great Journal, i can't wait to see how your interior electrics develop!

Saving the extra and getting the KWs sounds like a plan, cheers everyone. When i get them fitted i'll post some pictures up so you can see how fiendishly embarrasing my current ride height is!!
-
It looks like my question has been answered! Are there any others that come close for the price? It looks like im gonna be having a sober time this weekend...

Stuckinthe90s your car is STUNNING!! What wheels are they and what size? Is that original paint? What suspension are you running? Your Corrado is probably the best i have ever seen, it's gorgeous!!
