Great news. This is what the forum is really about helping others out when in need.

Quick summery my beloved VR was wrote off back in March this year. I loved that car like no other so I was absolutley devistated when this happened after spending thousands on keeping it mechanically sound. It took 6 months for the legal wranglings to finish and I was eventually paid off for the loss of car+personal injuries to my partner and friend who were in the car at the time. I still came on this forum but found it self defeating not having a Corrado anymore and that made me more depressed about the situation. So it was time to buy another car and it was a head/heart moment. Do I buy myself another Corrado or get something a bit more modern with better safety features? Well it was a close call and I nearly bought a Blackberry VR with low milage and in good condition but the seller wouldn't budge on his asking price so that gave me time and oppertunity to look elsewere in the market. In the end I bought a nice, relativley low milage Tornado Red mark IV R32. So I guess my head won that battle. I will always love Corrados and may, one day, come back to ownership but getting hold of parts is becomming more difficult and keeping them on the road gets very costly every year. Just want to say that this is the best forum going and thanks to all who have helped me in the past. I will still come on here and look around at whats going on. Anyway some pics of the new car. Thanks Alan

Hi Andy I live in Widnes too. Hope to see you around. Alan

How about oil pump failure? When I had my engine rebuild I had to have the pump replaced due to the NRV not working correctly. Would be worth getting it checked out.

I never thrashed my VR and when I took it for a service my mechanic told me that the VR engine needs to be thrashed once in a while so "drive it like its been stolen" were his words of advice.

Not seen any for ages then yesterday spotted two both in white. First was J***COO in alpine white travelling through Warrington/ Stockton Heath/ A49 South at 11 30. Possibly a valver/G60 debadged and colour coded door handles shod on black wheels. I followed for for a good 4 miles in the works van and let you in the the correct lane on Bridgefoot roundabout. The second was a VR in candy white on the Runcorn expessway around 14 00 ish travelling in the opposite direction ****DPB or similar.

Yes it was me who posted that video. I can't remember which part of the forum I posted it on but it was either General car chat or Off topic. I'm not that technical on how to post it here though. ---------- Post added at 09:59 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:51 AM ---------- Just looked in my history and found it. Thats the good news. The bad news is it looks like the OP on Youtube as removed the video due to "copyright" Alan

Wow thats more than 100% increase. ATM a R32 on a 53 plate is around 225 IIRC. Just as the finishing line is in site it moves further away. Gutted

I'd go for a 3.2 TT if you don't need alot of space. I'm undecided about the TT I'm not sure I could be seen driving one. I'd be paranoid about what people would be thinking about my employment LOL

I was suprised when I looked at R32s at the prices of them. A lot of car for the money and as VR6 says prices are dropping.
-
Well done mate. I know that you've a bit of a nightmare with your Corrado since you bought it. At least you can now cross this of you're things to do list.
-
Thanks guys thats pretty conclusive 3 - 0. To get a decent VR in todays market I'd be looking to pay around £4000, maybe a little lower, and thats not too far off a R32. Its very tempting I'll have to get saving LOL.,

Since my VR as been written of last month I've missed it more than I ever thought possible. In that time I've been considering my options for the future in which way to go when getting my next ride. And I'm stuck. So I thought I'd share my ideas on here and see what you guys think. The obvious way to go would be to get another VR but as you all know getting a good un is a hard task these days and age also counting against them with parts (even critical) getting harder to source. Don't get me wrong I would love another but I spent a fortune getting mine into a really nice example and I wouldn't like to do it all again. I've been looking at other possibilities which are 1 Audi TT - Hairdressers car or is that image unfair? 2 Audi S3 - Dosn't stand out from any other A3 3 Golf R32 - Prices have dropped off and I've been looking at mark lV's. This is my joint favourite option at the moment with it being the natural progression to go (or is it)? All these cars have much better safety options too with air bags etc. This was brought to mind with my partner breaking some of her ribs in the accident in the VR something which older cars can't even compete with. As the title says its another Golf at the end of the day and thats troubling me a little because the beauty with the Corrado is its looks, rareity and how cool they are. I cant see a Golf being cool no matter what engine is in it. Please comment on my thoughts and help me come to some kind of sanity. If any of you have any experiance with any of the cars mentioned or even have other ideas please comment. Thanks for reading Alan

Thats what I use it really is good stuff

I too am amazed at the price of these. Since my VR was written off I've been looking at these and R32's. Been on the Z350 owners web site there is a write up about the main common problems. There really aint too much that goes wrong with them. The drive shafts get noisey and if you pick up the GT spec make sure the BOSE cd player dosn't skip thats a common problem. The early models come with a "poorer" interior . I'm sure there's more it was a few weeks ago when I looked. Alan

Wow didn't know that the C came in red I thought they were all in pink. Lokks really nice mate.

Thanks guys reading your comments as lifted my mood. There was an indipendant witness who saw the accident so if her statement matches my partners then the police say they will prosicute him. My partner as been in agony with her ribs since the accident but she's improving. As for getting another one well I'm looking casually at the moment until I get the payment. I'd love another they really are a fantastic car in so many ways! Alan

Hi guys, Well my pride and joy was written off earlier this month. I,ve been too gutted, until now to post. The car was trashed on a round a bout when some pr1ck decided he wanted to turn right whilst he was in the left hand lane, on a dual carrageway, and ended up driving into the nearside of my car forcing it into a mobile phone mast head on. More importantly my partner was driving and she sustained broken ribs and heavy bruising while the passenger had a suspected dislocated shoulder. The car is a write off and estimated repairs come to 12 000. Mechanically she was in very good shape as I've spent thousands on the engine, running gear and suspension in the time that i've owned her. Ironically I'd asked my partner if she could go to a body shop in St Helens and get quotes for me on some minor rust removal and a respray on the front bumper whilst she was doing some buisiness in the area. I was planning on spending some money this year on bringing the bodywork up to a better standard. I dont know what to do with myself at the moment I feel lost without it. Here are some pics of her in all her glory from better times

For the last month my VR hasn't been running smoothly, lumpy at tickover and hesitant in all gears at low revs. Not once did it ever stall in that time. The problem was diagnosed as a faulty spark plug and rectified. Now the engine is fine except it now stalls or threatens to when I come to a junction ect. I'm completley baffled by this. Anyone got any advice? Maybe I've found the cure we should be running on five cylinders lol BTW how do I get to the smilies on this new format? Alan

I must be the lucky one when it comes to rattles, etc in the cabin. Somtimes a get a squeak from the shelf which covers the fusebox. I just simply give it a good coating in silicon spray and that does the trick.
-
That machine would struggle to chew my balls lol
-
The swap went well (even for me) Straight forward and didin't take long. Didn't resolve the problem, that turned out to be a defective spark plug. The engine is running sweet now
