    engine change

simplest thing is to whip the head off the 9a and stick it on your kr bottom end. simples.
  2. Alternatively if you're getting seriously desperate (and im not offering a service here!!) i could get some ordered and sent to you.
  3. Yeah it's very annoying! We spend a fortune with them so they are willing to look for stuff and get back to us. I was after some magnecor / 8mm ones but they couldn't source any under £1000000. I'm sure if you ring and ask nicely they could source you some.
  4. They were certainly cheaper than £62 posted.
  5. I recently got some TDC leads from eurocarparts that they sourced for me. Didn't come with the knock sensor but you can remove the plug to slide it on. They seem good enough quality. The long plastic part that goes into the head seems sturdy and i don't think they were too expensive either. Cant remember the price, will find out but might not be good to many of you anyway as we get a hefty discount from them. Will keep you updated if anything goes wrong with them.

    Stall when cold

thats the badger, simple to remove, nothing to worry about. spray the hell out of it with wd to remove all carbon deposits.

    Tyre problems!

No idea on how to test. try changing the valve, theyre pennies.

    Tyre problems!

I had a small flat spot on a wheel that made no difference to anything for 2 years except for when i happened to park on a particular spot and it let out all the air overnight. Could be a similar porblem?

    Tyre problems!

Stretched tyre driven hard as above, slight flat spot on the rim, tyre valve leaking air
  10. middle lane drivers, bumper huggers, people that accellerate when you try to overtake them - must be some macho thing i dont get?, drivers who overtake only to sit in front going slower than you originally were!

Yup, sounds like ISV to me.
  12. Also intereested in a kit for a 9a if you get details & a price
  13. Im guessing so. They do all kinds of engine work so popping in a cam is easy stuff.
  14. Would you consider a discount on the price if you didn't have to de-solder anything? My ecu chip can easily be popped out and back in. Also what if i have different cams in my car, i have abf's? Cheers Kunaal
  15. will deffo look into the remap. I haven't got new injectors, just put the old ~140k ones back in and she runs fine. I will be getting some new ones as soon as i can justify spending £140 or manage to wangle some for free out of eurocarparts. Then its off to DG for a tune up. Im guessing its best to replace the injectors first rather than after the tune up.
  16. Could i ask how much the tune-up and remap cost? I'll be heading up to DG for the same some time soon.
  17. Update: She breathes life once more!!!! A MASSIVE thanks for all your help and advise guys and to Dave at DGAutotech who gave me some sound advise over the phone. Without this forum i don't know where i'd be right now. I will now definitely be going to DG for a setup even though they are over 100 miles away! Turns out it was 2 sets of dodgy injectors. I should have listened to Davidwort and done a spray pattern test but i got a little scared and just changed the injectors for another reconditioned set. Lesson Learnt - NEVER buy reconditioned CIS-E injectors! It simply cannot be done without damaging them. I have fallen back in love with the C, she drives as smooth as a new car and has some serious new found power. I may try putting my dodgy cam setup back in and see how she pulls... Hope this thread helps someone else with their 9a woes. Anyways, i cant thank you enough and if a mod could tell me how to make a donation i will gladly do so!
  18. Thanks, i thought swapping the pipes round would make a difference but worth a try! I've changed the metering head already and it still has the same problem. By 'setting up the idle mixture' do you mean adjusting the 3mm allen screw on the head? If so, yes, i set it up on the old metering head but then changed it for an un-tampered one as i discovered this is factory set on the 9a and shouldn't be altered. I'm trying to get hold of a new fuel pressure regulator to give that a try. Anyone able to help me out? Also anyone know what the 2 plugs with a rubber pipe between them on the back of the airbox are and could this be a source of any problem? Cheers, Kunaal
  19. Ok so here's how things stand at the moment. I changed the cams for standard abf ones, this seemed to make the car almost drivable but hasn't really solved the problem. She still hesitates a lot when moving off but when I very slowly pull the throttle the revs will pick up perfectly. Which leads me to believe there could be something wrong with the fuel pressure regulator or the vacuum system. I'm gonna try taking all the vacuum gubbins apart and check and re-fit. Does anyone know which way round the 2 pipes that go into the rubber elbow that goes into the throttle body go? As there is a 'thingy' inside the elbow I'm guessing they go round a certain way. Thanks, Kunaal
  20. Cheers aide, The old man used to be a bit of a k-jet guru...... About 20 years ago! But now has moved on to more modern engines that need a computer to tell you what's wrong. Anyway, he's about as stumped as I am. He reckons it might be the cams as well so he's gonna help me stick a matched pair in tomorrow. Does anyone know how tell abf's or kr's apart from 9a's? Don't really want to be sticking 9a's in. Cheers
  21. Yeah, ive re-marked the cut exhaust cam and rotated accordingly. The lobes line up as they should. I'm gonna pop some abf's or kr's in tomorrow morning anyway. I'm pretty sure the timing is ok because once the revs are up above about 1500 she runs fine. It just has one mother of a flat spot moving off.
  22. Changed the temp sensor already. Will listen for the fuel pumps tomorrow but im pretty sure theyre ok as the car ran fine before i f****d with it. Im gonna try sticking some kr or abf cams in in the morning if i get the time. Anyone know how i can definately tell the cams apart without measuring them? (dont have verniers) I know the kr's have some of the back of the lobes cut away on inlet and exhaust but do the 9a's have this too? I was under the impression the 9a and kr exhausts were the same. Also has anyone ever tried abf inlet with kr exhaust in a 9a? Cheers guys Kunaal
  23. If you weren't in Belfast i'd pay you to come down and fix the C! Currently feeling pretty shit about it. Thinking about throwing it the garage and leaving it forever or selling it for a massive loss and getting any old piece of crap to drive. Really am felling pretty depressed about it all. Hopefully i'll better in a few days and will want to try again. :(
  24. Yeah, im gonna have a go at that but was hoping to get the car running by sat night so i can pick the mrs up at the airport on sun morning. Don't think i'll be able to get the cams swapped over in time. :(
  25. Just had a thought.... has anyone ever done an exhaust cam mod on a 9a and not a kr? I'm thinking maybe the ecu cant deal with the emissions due to the overlap created. Im using a chopped abf exhaust as inlet and kr exhaust. I know its an odd combo but i know it works on a kr. Thanks, Kunaal
