Been like this for a few months now and very happy. Bring on the winter and salty roads, cleaning alloys and scrubbing arches! In line with previous requests, the front floor to mid-arch height is around the 58cm mark with 17' RX's. Not sure about the rear!

Cheers Zac, PM'd back. It's my own fault for not waterproofing them myself. I've heard some people put them in little sandwich boxes to keep them dry - would this work? As I say, the loom itself is great - poor design of the relays but at a couple of quid each, they're easily replaceable!
-
Hiya mate. Bought a loom off you last year and mightily impressed with the results. However, as a result of not waterproofing the electrics as suggested, I know have two knackered ones of these.... IMG_0063.jpg[/attachment:s10rlkfw] The inside of it (once the case is taken off) is mush - it's completely corroded! Can you sell me a couple of these on their own or let me know where to get them please? My drivers side dipped headlight looks like a candle at the moment and pretty sure it'll be sorted with one of these. Cheers buddy.

Looks good. Think I'll order mine tomorrow. I'll get some pics up of that too.

Not sure about the thermoswitch but I think the 2 little things with wire going in are pressure sensors which disengage when the white arms are fully out. Maybe the thermoswitch is nearer the motor? All I did was wash all the cogs that came out of the motor, gave them a good coating of WD40 and then re-greased them. When you put it all back together, make sure all the cogs are fully inserted. I didn't make sure of this first time round and only found out once it was all bolted back in! Good idea to connect up the electrics before you put it back in and get the misses to push the spoiler switch!!

Had another go at sorting out my spoiler today and hey presto, it's working!! Didn't take too long either which was nice. Also on the list of boxes ticked are adjusting my front suspension to even up the ride height now they've settled in, tightened up a few clips on bits of trim and replaced the number plate light bulbs! All small things but pleased they're done! When things go well it's quite satisfying isn't it! Just wait for something major to happen now that I can't sort out! -
Just took mine out and stripped it back this morning. Hey presto, it's working again! The little yellow pipe in the blue circle just pulls out. It is the central locking mechanism I think but it hasn't got fluid in it or anything. Pull the wiper fluid pip off too and then kink it over if it starts dripping. As far as all the cables go, just disconnect them all. It's simple enough to connect back together when the mechanism is back in. When it comes to actually removing the whole mech, there are 4 bolts attaching the mech on the inside and then I had to unscrew the 2 screws holding the little plastic cover on the left hand side of the spoiler too. Does that make sense?! It looks tricky but it's actually not too difficult when you get started. The hardest bit is actually getting the mechanism out once it's all loose with the bolts undone - fairly tight squeeze! I'm a proper amateur as far as tinkering with cars go and it took me an hour or so to get it out, strip all the cogs and get it back in. Didn't pay the motor any attention but it seems fine now anyway!

Can anyone help please? The backlight of the LCD panel in the fuel guage dial (that shows the clock, temp, MPG etc) has gone out. The LCD display itself works, just the light has gone out. Is this just a simple bulb change? If so, is it simple?!

Today I have mostly been stripping the spoiler mechanism in some vain hope of getting it to work! It's been working going up but blows the fuse on the way down then just stops. I've now managed to make it not work at all! The motor is working but I don't think I've got the cogs lined up right as there's no movement at all! BUGGER!! :censored: -
Looking at getting the Jetex system but does anyone have any views on the 2 Vs 3 box system? Noise, restriction on flow / engine output, that kind of thing?
-
Ah yeah, hadn't noticed that one had 3 boxes and the other 2. How does that make a difference then? Different noises? Do they effect the engine in different ways?
-
That would be great, thanks. These were the cheapest I could find but haven't got to ringing round yet!

Hi all, Could somebody please let me know if there is a difference between the VR6 systems on this site? The chassis numbers are the same but the prices are different?? I've got a '95 VR6 and looking for a new exhaust before mine falls off! I'll give them a call anyway but if anyone could shed some light I'd appreciate it. http://www.vwspeed.co.uk/volkswagen/par ... 355-1.html

As a fellow Storm owner, I agree - best car I've ever had too! Shame you got the wrong colour and you have a pink air freshener dangling from your rear view mirror though! :camp:

Inform them. If they've already accepted liability it won't affect you anyway. If nothing else they'll give you legal help should you need it.

"The Corraptor" - Corrado VRTurboSyncro

Amazingly specced car made to look like your dogs dinner! That rear bumper's horrendous! Would look far better without all that trim IMO. -
Do you ever get the feeling that your car hates you?

Mine decided to boil it's coolant today! The missus had taken it to visit her gran (only the second time she's driven it!) and had to pull over with steam-a-go-go! Turned out my last mechanic (he only did one job for me!) forgot the re-plug the fan in. Something I should have noticed granted but hey ho, no major harm done. Anyway, a round-the-houses way of saying, yeah, C's do give you that feeling from time to time  -
My buddy just got a new Scirocco and as well as the awesome seats, the first thing that grabs you when you sit in it is the cool touch screen head unit. Now, how tricky would it be to blend one of these into the dash of a '95 Corrado? Due to the double height, I guess the heater controls would need moving into the little cubby hole underneath, along with making a new bracket to hold it. Anyone thought about giving it a go or is it just easier to get one of the fold out head units?

You thread name hijacker! Liking the photos mind, got a real moody feel to them. Just googled LM's and they look good! 8) Good luck with the re-spray etc...jealous your other ride is a 993 too!

Jetex and Magnex are similar costs too aren't they? Was wondering about a Supersprint but seems like a lot of money for not much difference. Thanks Vornwend. As I've said in your thread, a lot of inspiration has come from your wheels! Doing the work is the easy bit really, getting the ideas is the tricky part. What's National Day and when/where? -

Thanks for the comments guys. Really pleased with her at the moment. When I get the time to detail properly she comes up even nicer but it is time consuming! I was wondering about going gold actually. Was thinking of getting black & gold centre-caps for the RX's and gold calipers would look good I admit. I am really drawn to red though - I know lots of people do it but it does look class! Haven't had that idea. Have been doing a bit of research and can see that it doesn't give huge BHP gains but lots of torque. To be honest, that's what I'm after - not too worried about what the numbers or the graphs look like as long as it pulls like a train when I want it to! What am I looking at for a Schrick manifold then? I'm supposed to be saving for a wedding in Spetember too! :brickwall: -

Right, it's been a while since I posted last and a few jobs have been done in that time. Had her lowered on KW V1's to as low as the local speed bumps will allow (maybe a bit too low on the back?). Also got a set of RX splitties fitted. Combined, these mods have transformed the way she drives. It used to be quite a soft, wallowy ride but now it's nice and firm - not too hard but I'd say about spot on. Cornering has improved leaps and bounds whilst it doesn't crash over those damn pot holes! Also got a BMC CDA under the bonnet and added some 288 front brakes to make her sound lovely and stop quickly! Next on the list is to fit the Schimmel 263 cams I've got, a new exhaust (not sure which yet - Magnex?) and then a re-map to tie it all together. I also want to get 280's on the back and get the calipers painted red all round :D . Bit of a novice with that sort of thing - do they have to be removed to paint them or can it be done with them on the car? Might get the rear numberplate surround painted to match the car too. Even got asked if I wanted to sell her in Asda's carpark today! Nver got asked that in my Beemer! Anyway, have a look at the piccies and see what you think. Any suggestions / comments welcomed. -
Proper schoolboy question but when you say the biting point is high, does that mean close to the carpet? Got that problem with mine although doesn't seem too bad at the moment. How much am I looking at for the parts mentioned above, i.e. - new master cylinder, new slave cylinder and new flexihose? Roughly how much work in hours at a garage too? Don't want to get ripped off if I need to get this sorted!

Watch Pistonheads over the next week then - our Corrado's will be flying off the shelves! Not mine mind :nono:
