I've used a spray on Hammerite Degreaser, it's OK if it goes on your paintwork and does a bloody good job. Around £3-4 IIRC.

Could be as simple as your clutch cable has stretched, which if that is the case it will no doubt go soon. Normally if the release bearings are buggered you would hear a "whistling" noise which would disappear when the pedal is down. Could be the self-adjusting mech. (if you've got one) thats buggered or the release lever. Although to be fair mate apart from the basics it could be a magnitude of things.

Yes Dr, I would agree with what you are saying there, and anyway I'm getting slightly peeved with people wanting to know what their Bhp/torque is all the time. If you have stuck a turbo on your car the fact that it kicks butt is proof enough that it has made a difference, by how much in numbers surely doesn't matter? It reminds me of people that are constantly changing the drivers on their graphics cards just to gain a few points on 3DMarks! If it runs all your games smoothly then what fecking difference does a score on some benchtest make?!

Well the MkI Scirocco was designed by Giugiaro and built by Karmann and then VW thought they could do a better job on the MkII and thats why it doesn't really have any character to it. I quite like the Scirocco, a neighbour has a mint GT and it does still look very good for the year, but not a patch on the C IMO which has exactly the same line running down the length as the original Scirocco.

I thought as much, the new layout seems to be the same as the touring car track, what a waste of one of the best straights in F1, won't be long before the FIA introduce speed bumps! Health and safety ruins everything these days.
-
Does the new alarm activate the headlights when it goes off, I can't think why the fitter would interfere with the wires otherwise, but yeah either way it's far too much of a coincidence not to be the fitters problem.

Leave it Kev, leave it......

I'm not that au fait with F1 but hasn't Hockenheim been butchered, and if so for how long and why??
-
 Yes I shouldn't have been so hasty!

Hmm, yes Dr but I think my standard 15" wheels are optimal
-
209.5 Bhp at flywheel, 166.5 Bhp at wheels, so a 43 Bhp loss, AFAIK this is completely normal. And to lessen this loss you could spend a shed load of cash for minimal improvement!

That would explain my confused mind, I thank you for the enlightment.

After my huge payout to have a lot of work carried out on my C and then having the unfortunate problem of a slight oversight, I contacted Vince along with a letter and he has apologised for the cock-up, taken on all responsibilities and asked me to return the car for a full check/rectification. Now I know a lot of you will be saying "well he should sort it out, it was his fault", and yes I agree but there are many companies who would would deny responsibility altogether or begrudgingly take it back for a look and then not give it full attention. In the past I have had other "top" companies fob me off with bollox disdainful prattle hoping I would just shut up and p*ss off! Mistakes can happen and unfortunately do happen, and yes it is annoying when you have spent wads of cash on your pride and joy only to find a problem with the workmanship, but a perfect 100% turnout although desirable can never happen as we are all only human. This is why customer service is so important and I regard Stealth's to be the best in the business. Although oversights must be reported and not just forgotten, how can a company act on a problem if it doesn't know about it? Stealth has over the years gained an unprecedented reputation for quality of service and will continue that reputation if people allow them to know where they've gone wrong. No I haven't been paid for this post! I just think that good customer service is paramount in any business, as this allows us the customer to have faith knowing that no matter what your car is in good hands.

I would love to see a one-on-one with a 91 RON C and a 97 RON C just to see how much difference there really is between the two fuels. Over a quarter mile stretch would be interesting.

My spoiler mech. itself was buggered some time back and would rise and fall in increments to the point where it didn't work at all! I managed to get the whole lot (rods/motor etc) from a local breakers for £15 and after a short time fitting it....perfect. The turning mech. was buggered after activating the spoiler every 5 minutes!
-
Unbelieveable, that works out about £28-29 for a full tank!!!! Just shows how much us Brits are getting taxed, AFAIK it would be around 10p a litre without any taxes applied! Although 91 RON? Does your car pink like a bitch?! Whats the highest grade over that side of the pond anyway? When in Germany last year they sell a "V-MAX" range of petrol that is 100 RON, I was very tempted but it was more expensive than optimax (97 RONish) was in the UK at the time. And their "normal" fuel of choice is 97 RON. The Germans don't accept any rubbish!
-
All I know is it costs me nearly £70 to fill it up with Optimax, although it is 95p a litre round my way now, still I'm not going anywhere near the Tesco pumps

I have spoke to Vince and he has said he will rectify any problems that stem from the work carried out, sameday service. He can't be any fairer than that I suppose, just got to get it there now, not too happy about driving it all that way with it banging like a barn door in the wind!!

Hmm funny that, I was thinking that myself but as all of the CV joints were replaced in April at Stealth I presumed that was not the case, although I hear that Stealth use 3rd party cack parts unless you ask otherwise, which unfortunately I only heard after the job was done. So along with the dodgy sounding V-belt tensioner this could be the second shat part Stealth have fitted that has fecked up in only a few months, I am now getting rather pi**ed!

Not sure if this should be in "Engine" or "Drivetrain" but anyway on the way back home earlier I was hearing a "clacky/slapping" noise from around the centre (around 1500rpm) of the bay while slowing, similar to a loose exhaust bracket, when slowing from motorway speeds this noise is accompanied by a loud "thudding" noise which is strongly felt through the floor where the footrest to the left of the clutch is, this would happen from about 3000rpm down to 1500rpm. I haven't been able to check under the car for a possible exhaust problem yet but it does sound a bit more serious than a loose pipe! Any help would be good. MB

http://www.mytyres.co.uk/ Show a huge range, deliver to your door and give you recommended local fitter details. Most of the tyres also come with reviews, not a bad site.
-
Wouldn't the O2 sensor also be affected by this? Can have adverse effects on the engine performance.
-
 Tried them Dr, they didn't work, Stealth was the only way to extinguish the burning sensation :)
-
Yes it is, I also forked out a lot of money to own a Storm, which considering is "just a VR6 with badges on it", also may not have needed to be done, but I like things to be just so, and besides the money was burning a hole in my pocket.

OK OK, I agree VW's are A LOT more reliable than those pesky Fiats. Now please leave me alone or I'll tell my mummy.
