40mm should be fine. Get some decent coilovers though and you can experiment until the moo cows come home
  2. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=65020&p=756307&hilit=cleaning+isv#p756307 Here you go this might help
  3. LOL Yeah I have thought about it. But engine seems in pretty fine condition (touch wood). When I eventually need some head work I will probably have one fitted then.
  4. I had similar on my VR and that was the ISV (Idle Stabilisation Valve) that had got filthy and needed cleaning. Should be some threads in the search about this. Not saying it is this but is easy thing to clean and check.
  5. Sounds like you are doing right thing, you can never be to careful especially as you have only just had your head done. I often see oil temps as high as 125, but then again I should probably slow down LOL

Yeah the only problem with Rado's is they look too darn good to start with! Therefore you dont get much chance to tinker with them LOL Probably best off putting the money towards some really good suspension and tasty lookin wheels :norty: Again in my humble opinion....
  7. He he, wondered when you would get a build thread up. Look forward to seeing the build and of course the finished results! Should be awesome! 8) Was going to post on the wheel thread but here seems more apt  Are you planning on fitting a LSD? Probably be money better spent than wider wheels or bigger tyres even? Matt
  8. Could quite possibly be water pump. There is an upper and lower one so could be either! Not expensive job, but one pump (cant remember which) is a bit tricky to get to. I wouldnt have thought trailering would be necessary as long as you check coolant levels and dont run it too hot should be more than fine. Matt
  9. I know the guy that used to own my car ran 215 section tyres on 17x7.5's with coilovers and my arches are std. So that is an option. I dont know if it didn't rub like a horny dog on a leg though LOL (But I doubt it). Pics here viewtopic.php?f=11&t=71317&start=15 You may be ok with 8J but I think rolling the arches would probably be best for absolute zero clearance issues.
  10. Will Goodridge hoses on a std set up work with 288's? Ta Matt
  11. That must have been a nasty surprise :( However if it is just some light filler then it was probably nothing more than a nasty scrape.
  12. Saw these Eskimo thought of you  Quality wheel, should look real good and 16's may be a better option. Plus they will save you a few pennies which you can put towards getting it lowered. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... SS:GB:1123 Matt
  13. Pardon me being an ignoramous - am I going to have the same issues if I went with 16"? I'm new to all this change wheel size business, if I'm spending dosh on a new set of wheels I want to get it right! Yep if you increase the size of your wheels then you are generally decreasing the size of the sidewall of your tyre. Therefore it makes your arch gap look bigger. And the Corrado arch gap is large enough std as is!
  14. Lookin at it again is there any room to put a chisel on it and just TWAT the bolt head off with a big lump hammer?
  15. Hmmm not sure those extractors will do the trick. Have you not got a dremel you can put a notch in the bolt with? If its a steel bolt and you have the room then welding could do the trick!
  16. Now that is annoying! I was gona say hammer an old torx head into it. But I dont think you have enough metal now. I reckon you could maybe grind/cut a slot in it and then tap it round with a large screwdriver til its loose. Failin that someit like this maybe? http://www.screwfix.com/prods/20084/Van ... %208%20Pc# Matt
  17. Are there any bits which you should really cover with plastic bags when rinsing it off?
  18. I would agree that 205/40 section tyres are defo the way to go. 17's certainly make the car tramline a little more and you lose a little turn in. Not sure I would go up to 8's Joni depending what suspension you are running you may require arch work. I have 7.5's and mine and they rub occasionally. Although I think they are rubbing the top of the arch rather than the outer edge. In an ideal world I think 7J would be ideal on a 17. Sub 9kg would be a good wheel choice as well. Sub 8kg if you can find/afford some. Mr Eskimo not sure if you have an early car, but if so its worth checking what people are running on theirs as the track is not as wide as on the later VR's as well. Matt
  19. Id buy a 500 quider some suprisingly ok cars out ther for that!
  20. Has he got a build thread anywhere? :salute:
  21. Oi dont you start as well LOL I really did consider it, but... I cannot afford tappets and a remap, plus the fitting of my VSR and couple of other little bits it needs. So I think I will leave it for a few more months and then just have Vince at Stealth do the lot in one go. I would feel a lot better having the cams in with a remap at the same time :) Damn its so tempting though
  22. Do you mind me asking how much image charge for replacement split rims?
  23. Nice one mate those brakes look like a really good option. Made them look really tidy as well. When you gonna test them? :norty:
