  1. One of the reasons I went for this dash over some others was it was not too wide for the car. A lot of modern dashes (like the TT I did before) are 1" or more wider than the rado dash, which means you have to completely modify the doorcards. The boxster also has a high centre tunnel like the Rado, making it sit in a similar position. Main reason though was the big rev counter right in front of you ;) Jay
  2. Well I have managed to get a couple of hours on the car today, between lying in and watching the grand prix. Initial trial fit to check clearances of column, steering wheel etc. resulted in getting the dash mounted pretty securely. Then a check of the fit and alignment of centre console with shifter and tunnel. (blue bit will be painted arctic silver) and a check on the fit to the doorcards, which almost fit perfectly and will only need minor tweeks I reckon. :) Overall result is good so far... will come out again while I install all the climatronic but very very happy with the first fit  A very happy Jay.
  3. Was busy selling the golf today. Work on the rado starts tomorrow.... Jay
  4. No going to use the VW MFD sat nav in there.
  5. Perfect as always. Love it Gareth. Jay
  6. Yeah find me a 997 dash complete and within my budget and I will fit it :) Thanks guys. This is never going to go as far as the last Rado....well I say "never"... :) Jay
  7. This climate control is a little different to be honest....... 8) Jay
  8. Dash conversion and climate control..... Jay
  9. Grey16 you have PM. ;) Will try and show as much detail as possible in this thread, but I am a touch busy at the mo so you might have to bear with me occasionally :) Jay
  10. Yep can't live without climate control now Andy :) Will be one of the first things I do as I can't do the rest of the interior without it installed... Jay
  11. Yeah the wagons, guy came straight off the boat with some scampi and was cooked there and then. I work in Oil and Gas control systems and was staying in Bergen then flying up to Stavanger each day for a conference :) Love Norway, but its seriously expensive :) Good job its on expenses! To keep it on topic, have some new parts coming for the Rado, brakes and coilovers are coming this week. Jay
  12. I think its going to be a bit difficult trying to live up to the old one :( but I will try and do some new stuff... Bergen in Norway! I go there occasionally for work, lovely place, had the best scampi and chips ever down by the harbour there :) Never saw any rados though! Jay
  13. Cheers Ian. I would be dissapointed if you did not tell me four year on "it will be finished in March!" Jay
  14. I like the look of these R36's I must admit :) Seriously though the engine pulls well and seems OK, with a little TLC it will do for now while I sort chassis, body and interior. Then and only then do I need moar powaaaaaarrrr! Jay
  15. Not entirely sure which direction this is going to take yet.... Going to concentrate on getting everything mechanically sound first, want all the bushes/steering/brakes etc... right and also the engine and gearbox sorting before I get carried away. May give you a shout if I get sucked in by the pull of an R32 :) Jay
  16. I think I found about £3 kicking around in change under the carpets :) I guess ebay will decide what the interior is worth now.... Jay
  17. Thanks for all the nice comments. Well the replacements for the Recaro interior is in! :) Jay
  18. Well they are coming out this afternoon all going to plan! :) Jay
  19. Cheers everyone. The interior just doesn't "do it" for me, it very comfy and certainly brightens the interior, but I am going all modern again inside, so the lot is coming out, dash and all. What sort of money am I looking at for the whole cream interior? Seats/Carpets/Doorcards/Trims/centre console etc..etc..? It in alright condition and just needs a good clean/feed all the bolsters are solid and the electrics/heaters all work. Jay
  20. MK4 is sold, but not yet collected. The Recaros are staying the MK4 unfortunately :( The reason for moving back to a Corrado as a daily is that my wife is 20 weeks pregnant and we need to get a nice big sensible family car for her to use and for all our long journeys etc... so it was a good excuse for me to get a "cheap" daily Rado VR ;) Jay
  21. Thanks guys. I am looking forward to getting stuck into the new one. Nice to start from a VR this time ;) Jay
  22. Well it had to happen eventually! After 4 years out of Corrado ownership today I bought my new project/daily. For those that don't know me this was my previous Corrado. This is the new project. 1995 VR with an interesting spec. Factory fit Cream Leather Electric Heated Recaros etc.. all soon to be removed and sold....Factory Fit Aircon which will be adapted to work with Climate control in some way ;) I have plans, but will just update this thread as I go along. Will be nothing like the level of the previous Rado as I am doing this on a very strict budget, but hopefully some of the ideas will be new and interesting to read. Car drives OK, needs a bit of TLC and my first task will be stripping it down to start on the interior :) Felt incredibly at home back in a Rado, there is something about the driving position that is just bang on. Loved the sound of the VR too :) Its good to be back! Jay
