  1. Cheers fella. Thinking of getting a dehumidifier to put in the garage to keep the moisture at bay over the winter. Anyone else run one? Jay
  2. The doors do differ through the years, mainly mounting points for handles etc.. And the addition of door bars. LOL no the White board has lots of wheel offset calcs and jobs to do written on it, but will no doubt be cleared for a Corrado to do list before too long!
  3. Cheers guys. Was nice to meet you both and we will have to do it again and hopefully some more people can make it too. I have started my build thread under the title coined by James of "diamond in the rough".
  4. N plate green storm driving down Knutsford Road in Wilmslow yesterday around 5:30 Jay
  5. To be honest the paint is flat as you like at the moment so it doesn't come up well in photos.... Yet. Panels are easy to come by if someone on the forum happened to be breaking a Dark burgundy Pearl VR of the same age. You may be able to see two doors waiting patiently in the shot of my car in the garage ;)
  6. Welcome. Car looks like a solid base. I have just returned to Corrado ownership after 4 years and am also in Cheshire. Where abouts are you? Jay
  7. It's a while away yet, but I plan on doing an OEM style install with all solid pipework etc so might be able to produce a "kit" and instructions. Jay
  8. Yeah. The car is Dark burgundy pearl, which is a very dark purple. Interior is black though :)
  9. Cheers Gareth. Didn't get many useful pictures after the clean, but here is another showing after... Planning on grinding back and treating the only tiny areas of concern and then clear waxoyling the whole lot, hopefully leaving a very OEM underside to the shell before I start on everything.
  10. So first job I have had done on the car was to get the underside steam cleaned so I can see exactly where I am with the car. To be honest I very pleasantly surprised, it is extremely solid with just a couple of minor patches which I want to sort out on the bottom of the rear 1/4s where the Corrado commonly goes. Otherwise its actually very good. I was amazed at the difference the steam clean made and for £30 all done it was worth every penny to save me getting caked and soaking wet :) Before After Its now in the garage to begin the work on bringing it up to a reasonable daily. Its new home.....
  11. Dark Burgundy Pearl. I genuinely think the cars which will be most sought after in the not too distant future will be the original ones. They are so cheap at the moment I think a lot will be lost into the ether. Jay
  12. Cheers Kev. I have to admit it will not retain the ride height or the wheels, but everything else will stay. To my mind an easily reversible mod is acceptable. :)
  13. Yeah, first thing is a damn good clean just to give me some motivation :)
  14. 4 years since I sold my previous Corrado I decided to re-join the fold again and went on the hunt for a relatively cheap, but original as I could find Corrado VR. Having spent a few hours chatting to Gareth (OSV) I knew this time round I would not be going down the conversion/modification route, but instead just a tweeked originality. So my main criteria for a car was unmolested and unmodified, as I know the hardest thing to do now is find original good condition Corrado specific parts. Having literally just started looking for a car I got a text from Gareth pointing me at an apparently suitable VR for sale in Wales. The car was totally and utterly stock and bonus of all bonuses had factory electric heated Recaro leather. So I contacted the owner and it became apparent this car could be ideal. He had owned the car for 13 years and just used it as "a car" having it maintained as necessary and enjoying it. The car has done 200K miles, but you would not believe it. It's a really solid base, with cosmetic issues which I will address, but on the whole what you would expect from 17 years of driving. All the paint is original and should come up very well in most areas and the interior is as solid as I have seen with not a single clip broken or screw cover missing! So a trip this weekend saw me driving the car back to Cheshire to start the polishing of the rough, to hopefully reveal the diamond underneath. I have to admit, despite some minor hesitation and one or two minor mechanical noises it drives superbly, with a very sure footed handling as should be expected and the lovely pull of the VR. Engine is tight with no smoke or other nasties and I think with some TLC will run well for a good while yet. It will no doubt take me a while to get back in the swing of all things Corrado and I know I have a lot to catch up on in what has moved on in terms of parts etc.. The weirdest thing for me is despite owning a number of Corrados including my previous one which was rebuilt from the ground up, I have never owned a 12V VR. So here she is...
  15. Spotted a Sherry pearl valver on the M60 going past the Trafford centre around 8pm this evening....
  16. Well it can only be one of a couple of things The sender in the gearbox works by rotating and effectively pulsing a switch. This could be faulty, but I would not expect the speed to get higher only lower as the signal drops out. Therefore the most likely culprit is the clocks themselves. Are there any other strange symptoms on the clocks as it could be a voltage regulator issue, or simply the stepper motor in the dials.
  17. Well that's four of us at least! Just about to get on the train to go and pick my project up :) Jay
  18. I am sure we will hang around chatting and picking at the cars for far more than an hour anyway so just turn up at 1. Jay ---------- Post added at 01:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:42 PM ---------- In order to prevent this not happening at all, I am going to be at Jodrell Bank visitor centre at midday on Sunday in my C. I will apologise for the state of the car now as I am only buying it tomorrow. LOL. I may end up being there on my own having a lonely coffee but if anyone wants to join me add your name to the list below. 1. 24v Renshaw (Jay) Jay
  19. Me too. Would love to meet the local Corrado nuts before I strip the car down. How about we meet at Jodrel bank at midday...
  20. Don't install a diavia system they are absolutely abismal and all the ones I have seen so far on Corrados are butchered in with rough holes cut in the firewall for the pipes and nasty loom all over the place behind the dash. Install a modern Climatronic system instead. Jay
  21. My car will be insured on the 11th (day after I pick it up) then it will be in the garage so 11th for me. Jay
  22. Just realised I sent the payment from my iphone and there was no "gift" button so you will be charged fees. Do you want me to send a bit more to cover it? Jay
  23. Nice to meet you yesterday Tim. Doors are now home safe, just need a car now LOL.
