  1. Sounds like the ignition switch or factory immob. VW usually have the switch on the shelf (£20-ish) as it's the same as the Polo etc. Easy enough to change- the tiny screw is fiddly- you'll need a watch-makers screwdriver (or just one of those ones out of a cracker ;) ). Don't refit it- use a cable tie instead to save future hassle! There's a guide on here somewhere, but no point taking seat out and sorting it from underneath- easier/quicker from above IMHO. Do you have a factory immobiliser? If so, it's worth cleaning the plug with some contact cleaner or WD40. Just remove the driver's undertray and find the black cable with small black plug that connects to immob module. Unplug, spray & plug/unplug several times to clean. Worked on mine :)
  2. Sorry to hear that, Ian :( I've got a rotary polisher. You're welcome to pop down and we can try to sort it.
  3. Grrr! That completely sucks. I feel your pain :(
  4. Also check/clean the ISV and make sure all the accomanying pipework is clear & connected properly. Sometimes the sponge from the ISV damper box can get sucked into one of the pipes creating symptoms exactly like yours.
  5. Think everyone else was thinking of the twin cone type ;)
  6. The 2nd ones down look OK- like FKs. Worth painting the chrome bits black. The best ones I've had were the smoked set from ARZ. Good quality- no probs with them at all. The housing is already black too, unlike the others. The other ones are nasty!
  7. The glovebox is the worst part of this! Nightmare to get back in- it simply won't go. Chissel/cut off the criss-cross plastic 'grid' which is on the underside of the glovebox. It doesn't compromise anything, but it will go straight back in ;) After doing mine, I had to leave the glovebox out for weeks until someone on here told me about the little mod 8)
  8. I would think a standard paper filter is always the way to go with a G60. Much better filtration than any cotton gauze style filter- the G-lader hates particles getting in! Just make sure it's changed regularly.
  9. You're doing an excellent job, mate- it's really coming on. The interior looks superb 8) Wish I had the balls to do my chains!
  10. I bought some furniture clinic stuff in light grey- must've got the shade wrong as it didn't work at all. Will be interested to hear your results...
  11. As above- it took very little effort to get my Octavia vRS (180bhp AUQ) over 220bhp.
  12. A 180 bhp AUQ or the 225 bhp BAM engine would be best imho. Good power out of the box + 30bhp from a remap. If you're gonna go through the hassle, not worth going for the others IMHO.
  13. VW never sold any and only made one AFAIK as a concept, which is in the museum. There have been a handful made by the likes of Zender.
  14. Bit late, but Happy Birthday, Bev! :)
  15. Yep, reckon it's that one too.
  16. Don't think any dealership is obliged to give a discount. Pretty stingey if they don't though! My one always give me a good discount, but I've got to know the guys, have been using them for years and have spent thousands! That said, I asked for a CCGB discount very early on and they gave it to me - no questions asked. It's prob worth trying again- say you've checked and that you're supposed to have one. GSF will give you a 10% CCGB discount.
  17. As above. Check all the hoses very carefully- had this on my first 16v and several garages couldn't find the prob, which turned out to be a small tear under one of the pipes connected to the ISV.
  18. Darren, worked for me when I used the discount code 'radonet' a couple of weeks ago... You just go to checkout and there's a code box. Unless it's changed
  19. Welcome! Have you tried cleaning the ISV? Might be worth a shot before shelling out... With regard to tuning, the 16v responds well to a flowed head + a 2 litre bottom end (VW 9A or Audi 6A). Check out Davidwort's Gallery thread- his 1.816v is the best I've driven. This setup should see 165-180bhp. Also getting the warm up regulator modded and set up on a rolling road. G60 front calipers are a must have + suspension is worth doing. You get what you pay for though- I'd go Weitec/KW/Koni, depending on budget.
  20. Jake, I sprayed it black. Needs a bit of a polish though. Abdul, yeh, the yellows are a bit Marmite. Just got bored and wanted to do something different. I quite like them... at the mo. Forgot to say, I also detailed the front lights.
  21. I quite like them. Mine are OK, but could ultimately do with a refurb for perfection's sake. Think I'll prob go with silver though. Had gunmetal ones on my green VR and really liked them.
  22. Hey up- thanks mate. Got it from here - you get a Forum discount as well. It's run by Riley, who's on here.
