  1. Get a Vibratechnics- fit and forget. Worth the extra dosh. Had a couple of solid mounts in the past and found the extra vibration minimal. However, got a little scared by the stories of brackets shearing off etc!
  2. As much as I like the Speedies, think the Cades look even better! 8)
  3. Yeh, should be a little movement, but only a few mm. Worth changing the front mount anyway to be sure. Pretty easy job.
  4. Here's another thread which may be helpful- looks like the 2001 won't fit... Clicky
  5. Had a nice morning, scrabbling around under the VR :) *Hopefully* sorted the leaky sump, which was actually starting to lose quite a lot of oil. Removed the sump & gave it a really good clean. Could've done with some paint, but didn't have time. Left all the bolts to soak in white spirit as they were pretty gunked up. Refitted sump with new Elring gasket and a bead of VW sump sealant. All in, took around 2 hours at a fairly leisurely pace. Not too bad :)

No worries! Glad it's sorted 8)
  7. Glad you've seen sense! I'm sooooo tempted to edit your thread title...
  8. Thanks for the update, Stu. That's a shame- thanks for trying!
  9. Just need confirmation from everybody now. Have sent everyone on the list a PM. Any late takers before I book next week? It's a good 'un! :)
  10. Nutter! :( Just approved your ad- seriously thought about deleting it. I would take pics of the interior- black is more desirable, so a good selling point. You should keep it though! Thought you had a spare engine to drop in?! I reckon you just need to get really stuck into it, and get your bro to help. I don't mind popping over if you need another pair of hands. You've built it up into such a huge thing- you just need to get over that hurdle and get stuck in!

    Sap removal?

Clay bar is easy to use! Will remove everything too!
  12. It's starting to take shape! Will be a corker when you're finished. Love silver :)
  13. DG Autotech are also worth a look- Graham really knows his stuff.
  14. As Matt says, overall condition is the most important thing, but mileage is also a big factor, especially with it as low as 40K. Got any pics? Just to give you an indication, someone recently had a Storm up for sale on here with 37K on th clock. He originally wanted £14K, which, in most people's eyes was very, very optimistic. He then revised it to around £9K.
  15. Nice! Get a Gallery thread up and running ;)
  16. Give CrazyDave a shout- he's got a nearly new one fitted to his early valver that he'll be breaking soon ;)

    16V Fuel Tank

Yeh, just looked on Vagcat and they're on there 8)

    16V Fuel Tank

Matt, the fuel pipes just pull (or cut if need be) off. It's really easy to remove- just take the 3 straps off and ease it down. From memory that was all there was to it, although I'm sure if there are any more fixings you'll notice them easy enough. Just siphon the fuel out :)
  19. I will believe it when I see it! Jon, forgot to say re: wings- you will need late headlamp lenses & plastic surrounds, otherwise the lights will look recessed. Worth comparing with Andy's as his are late, before getting them painted ;) You should be able to get those bits pretty cheap though.
  20. IIRC, the outlet on the right of the ISV needs to be connected to the engine with a hose. The top hose connection just stays the same. You may need to twist the ISV around in it's holder. Think that's right- been years since I did it!

Remove the driver's dash undertray. Follow the reader coil black wire from the ignition to the little black box (see the pic in the second post above). Disconnect and spray the plug with WD40. Plug/unplug/spray a few times and this will sort it if it was just dirty. Worked on mine ;)
  22.  You can go advanced, or just write them in as you would normally (if you can remember them!).
