Where Can I get a "Corrado" Rear Badge from?
CazzaVR replied to joely7634's topic in Suppliers Forum
Yep still available as I've bought one recently, why have one at least 15 years old when shiny and new is best (well not shiny, primer!). I take it you cant get the silver ones from VW?? Would ARZ be the only place to get a new silver one?? Richi Nope, chrome ones are obsolete. I've managed to pick up good ones from Corrados being broken- gotta get in there quick though! Pretty sure ARZ sell them, but they're not cheap. -
Yup, you defo need new calipers. My 16v has had the G60 upgrade and the calipers had to be changed, and as Swompy says, they are the same as the VR6. The discs are G60 specific though as they're 4-stud.

Grrrr! That sucks mate :( Don't give up on the car though... just have a breather as others have said. Just think, next year you could be dating Megan Fox and driving around in a minty G60 8)

Chris Langdon's Moonlight Blue VR6 thread!!!

Wow, car is looking absolutely stunning, Chris! Need to give mine a good go with the polisher, but just don't have the time. Think I'll do one panel at a time  Just can't justify to the Mrs spending a couple of whole days on the car, whilst leaving her to look after the kids. Very frustrating! What pads/polish did you use? -
Go for 280mm G60 front brakes- straight swap onto a 16v. So you'd need calipers, carriers, discs and pads.

Think VW still have a few ready primed. www.ARZ-tuning.de should do them too. -
I'm guessing he was on about a Schrick/VW VSR manifold. This won't give that much more power, but will change the delivery, producing more low down torque. It's expensive for what it is IMHO, and would cost nearly as much as supercharging. If you're on a budget I would go for 263 cams, decat, BMC air filter, remap. You should see around 220bhp with this. If you're happy to spend a bit, go for a supercharger and you will see 250-300bhp. Turbo is the best performance upgrade IMHO, but is more costly. Give DG Autotech a shout for some good advice. HTH!

Looks really nice- I'm jealous!

 @ '...a Skoda!!' I agree, out of the two, I'd prob go for the WRX, but not the bug-eye, cos look at it, it's horrid! Seriously though, still can't believe that people STILL have anti-Skud badge snobbery. They're not the prettiest (although there are some very nice looking MK1 Fab and Octy vRSs out there), but they are fantastic cars. Just look at all the drivers surveys of the last decade- totally dominated by Honda, Lexus and Skoda.

Sounds like you got a good 'un! You only need 2 more to complete the set...
-
Glad you sorted it- the exact same thing happened to me with my last VR.

Sorry to hear that, Paul :( Really horrible running things over- especially something like a dog. The bloke sounds like a complete twat. Poor dog. My Dad ran over and killed a dog a couple of years bag- really upset him :( At least you know it's not your fault, and that you stopped and offered help.

Swompy's Ice grey violet. Now gone to a new home

Say again? Looks good, mate. -
I was absolutely freezing working in the garage. Not pleasant! Got the battery cover from VW- smidge under £20 8)

Hi Michael, nah not me I'm afraid. Missing your Corrado yet? ;)

Quick update: Fitted new Vibratechnics rear mount, VW OEM gearbox mount and new bolts all round, except for one of the rear bolts- the VT one supplied is nowhere near long enough so had to re-use the old one. I was getting a horrible crunching on quick getaways in 1st gear- originally thought it was due to the solid front mount, but was still there after changing to a VT. Then found that the driveshaft weight was loose when the car was at DG. Secured it with a couple of jubilees- still crunching :( Had a good look at the other mounts- GB mount looked perfect, but rear mount was very rusted and ancient (must've been the original). After changing these, no more crunching! The rear mount rubber was pretty good, but obviously not good enough. Also changed a couple of earth straps and added a battery cover. Amazing what a difference something like a battery cover makes to the engine bay- much tidier now 8) Only got a few little jobs to finish on the car now- removing the foam residue from under the bonnet, getting the tiny bonnet ding sorted etc etc. Oh yeh, also needs a damn good clean!

Know someone with a Griff, and he reckons it doesn't cost too much maintenance wise. He's found a very good local specialist. He's told me what he's had to have done over the last 2-3 years, and it doesn't really seem to be that much more costly than keeping a Corrado going. My only concern would be with body parts etc that are TVR specific and would be very expensive. That said, also know someone who had one and the engine blew up and cost loads to get sorted. Also insurance and fuel are obviously gonna be higher. The TVR community is great- they have a fantstic club (expensive at around £45 a year), but it's worth it. The magazine is like a car mag you'd buy from WHSmiths! They're a friendly bunch. I'd go with what Tom said and just make sure you have a decent amount of money set aside just in case. They're brilliant cars!

Good shots there, Tom :salute: Particularly like the first one, hiding behind the pillar 8)

Been really busy on the car today! Replaced gearbox mount (+ most of the bolts) with a new, OEM mount. Replaced rear engine mount (+bolts), with Vibratechnics mount. Replaced earth strap from coil to block. Fitted bonnet earth strap as the car's not had one since I've owned it. Fitted battery cover (Christmas present 8) )

Dark blue J reg 16v this morning at Northfield VW, Cirencester. Was on Estorils (crossover model?) and had a stainless exhaust.

Halfords do a set for around £20 that is perfect for you. It comes in a zip case and it even slots in neatly under the rear armrest. It has sockets, driver bits, electrical tape, pliers, adjustable spanner, cable ties, wire brush, knife etc etc. I've had mine for around 7 years and it's had a huge amount of use. They still sell them.
-
Nope- they use the same bolts- think the new mount actually comes with the bolts? Fits exactly the same way as any other front mount. 30 min job :)

Your current clutch will be fine with those mods. If you have to have an upgraded one, wait until you get the chains done ;) I would go for the manifold- will work well with the other mods, but don't expect miracles. It will sound good too, but make sure you wrap it well before fitting.

Octavia vRS or Laurin & Klement (lovely interior with loads of toys). Honda Accord. Seat Leon. Subaru Legacy. Out of these, you'll defo get more value with the Octy.

Thanks to J1MMY for turning up when you said you would to buy the seats :)
