Pretty sure one of my brake callipers has siezed. Seems to stick badly after rain. Normally I get a slight noise when I pull away in first- kind of metallic groan/low pitched squeek :? Seems like it's one of the fronts but I'm not sure. Firstly, how do I tell which one it is? Secondly, can I sort it without replacing? (looking for a cheap option here  ) Thirdly, if it needs replacing, is it worth using a 288mm golf 3 calliper? If I did this I'd obviously I'd need to do both sides so what bits would I need for the upgrade? Cheers!

...thought all C's (early and late) had separate switches for front and rear fogs... :?

Would be interested in a red set for my standard VR- they look superb, especially at that sort of price! :D 8) -
I used to use them because a. the corrado headlights are really poor b. they look good (IMHO) And I agree with Ant- they're not particularly bright at all, so they're not going to blind anyone! The fogs on my old 306 were so much brighter, so you absolutely couldn't use them. The C is different. I've driven past the police with them on loads of times and never been stopped. Howerver, I don't really use them any more because over use does tend to make them crack, and also you get the feeling everyone looks at you and thinks 'What a w......' I've had a couple of people gesticulating at me in a very unpleasant way- talk about an over reaction! My 2p.

Wakey wakey, Jimbo!  Think you'd be closer if you said half of it was my old car! Really pleased to see it looking so good again :D

Looking good! 8) :D See it's had a sex change then!

Thanks to Mike Edwards for sorting out some interior shelves and a door handle at a good price :D , and putting up with me being a bit late!  Nice to meet you, mate. Cheers Andy

Cheers guys! :)

Right, Probably sounds really stupid  , but where is the best place to jack the C up using a trolley jack (front and rear), and where is the best place to put the axle stands (front and rear). Invested in a set today so I can actually get under the car, and I don't want to go and do any damage! It seems pretty much common sense but I just want to be sure!  Cheers Andy

Really chuffed! :D Looks like she'll be back to her former glory very soon 8) Well done for persevering- well worth it!

Cheers guys, Looks like I'm missing one for the driver's side wing and pulleys then. Will put a post in Wanted  Thought the engine mounts contained some kind of oil, so when they disintegrate they leak :?:
-
Thanks Kev, So you don't have to take the throttle body off first? Nice and easy for a change then
-
Ice White Socks, What's the best way to clean the throttle body? A good soak with carb clean like with the ISV? Cheers
-
Had a good look under the car and there is only 1 splash guard (passenger side, fitted to front near spoiler). How many am I missing? Also noticed that the underside of the front engine mount and a nearby hose were wet- no visible oil leaks from anywhere else- do I need a new mount? Cheers Andy

Friday afternoon, Tunbridge Wells town centre- saw a black (?) G60 driven by a woman, and a few seconds later a nice K-reg silver VR with what looked like a Miltek.

Brilliant stuff guys :D , Sounds like the amplifier has gone- don't think it's the surpressor as the noise remains constant when driving. Yalan's idea seems to be best- what sort of terminal do I need and how do I attach it - I'm clueless when it comes to electrics!  Cheers Andy
-
Had this problem on my old G60. Can get FM fine, but can't get any MW. Just get crackles etc. No MW = No Five Live (no sport!!!) Any ideas? Cheers

Think they have them at Eurocarparts @ £35 ish?

Don't blame you- sounds fantastic! 8) 80K over here would get you a skanky one bedroom flat- if you're lucky! Best of luck with it all! :) -

CazzaVR replied to Eug's topic in General Car Chat
Mate, this just gets worse and worse. Really feel for you :( If Elephant are cancelling your policy, aren't you entitled to a policy refund or something for the amount of time left to run?! Typical insurance company- try to get you every way they can  How come you're going back to Cape Town? UK weather getting you down? -
Like Eug says, do them yourself! Much cheaper and they did look excellent (If I do say so myself  ). Only took a couple of hours to do them :)

Walked past a grey Cupra-R parked at Bluewater yesterday. Stunning car- so nicely kitted out! 8) Body kit, wheels, brakes, exhaust- looks aggressive in an underated kind of way. Nice!
