The legality of License plate Changes in the UK . Size, Position ETC.
OllieVR6 replied to Crispy Squirrel's topic in Exterior
I want to do this. As far as I'm aware, as long as the font size and type face remain the same, the plate can be anywhere on the front of the car and still remain legal. -
Yeah sorry I think I'll leave this one. Spent too much recently! Sent from my HTC One X

Interested in the gutter strips. Can you take a photo for me? Would be good to get a close up of the rubber part. Thanks.

Anyone going to waxstock tomorrow?
OllieVR6 replied to OllieVR6's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Well it was a very nice day! Being the first ever it was a small affair (by the standards of long established shows) but that was to be expected. We rocked up about 11am and left about 3.30pm. There were a dozen or so show cars inside the building and all very very fine examples of well maintained cars. There were old and new cars from an old Ford to an almost brand new Golf and you would honestly think that they had both just rolled off the forecourt. There were also some cars outside, again a mix of old and new, I'm not sure why some were outside whilst others inside. Loads and loads of stalls from the various online vendors (CYC, Elite Car Care etc) as well as stalls from the likes of Megs and Dodo. They were all offering discounts (some better than others) and all had masses of stock so you could get what you wanted. For me the most important part of the day was watching a live demo of a rotary polisher (by Dave KG if you are DW forum users) and learnt a lot! Picked up on the mistakes I had been making and now I'm desperate to get my hands on a rotary and have another go. Honestly there is no substitute for seeing something like this done by a pro! I really hope they do it again next year and that it's bigger and better. If I were the organizers I would be worried about the traders as I happened to hear one guy saying they hadn't sold as much as they wanted to and the traders make all the difference to shows like these. People are more inclined to come if they can get the stuff they want for a good price, especially if they can get a demo before they buy. That being said, you don't want it to just be a market! I'll have some pictures later, but there are plenty on the DW forums if you want to have a peek. -
As title, anyone going? (I am) http://www.waxstock.com/

Potential ban on car modifying NOW WITH PETITION
OllieVR6 replied to dragon green's topic in General Car Chat
Ok, first of all this thread obviously needs more forum input if I'm understanding the article correctly. So can someone change the title please? I've not read this thread before, despite seeing it a few times as I thought it only affected Brussels! Secondly, is this really true? Surely our government gets to have a say? If so, what have they said? -
Thanks chaps. Speed 3 is definitely coming on at 110. I did recently bridge the connectors to make sure that 2 and 3 both work (and they do). I'm starting to question if I'm looking for a problem that doesn't exist?! Perhaps I'll get vagcom on and make sure the temp readings are correct at the dash.

Anyone? Just thinking about ordering a new fan control unit to try and fix this problem but not sure if it's the right part to replace at this stage.

How do you know when it's time to sell the Corrado?
OllieVR6 replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
I have a question, please don't take it the wrong way. Are you sure it really NEEDS a respray? I see a lot of cars going for resprays that need two things - A visit from a paintless dent remover and a damn good machine polish. I see the appeal of fresh paint, but at the same time, if you take a look at what some of the professionals can achieve on detailing world, it could be worth considering paying a pro £400ish. -
I'm pretty sure my stage 3 fan is coming on when stage 2 is supposed to...is that a fail safe for when something is broken in stage 2?

Hi mate, I'm local to you (live in Farnborough but car lives in Camberley), I have one spare speedline and my space saver both of which you can borrow. The speedline is currently flat but happy to fill it up and see if it holds air. Let me know. Sent from my HTC One X

Having replaced the header tank with a MK4 version, checking the fluid level is a delight! Not to mention getting the cap off to top it up is a breeze. After changing the fluid for brand new G12++ I can report that the temps were healthy and everything was looking good even after a good thrashing on a hot day. Sadly the good times were short lived and the next day the level was down again (still visible in the header tank but low enough to make the warning light flash). I've left the car for a week, checked it tonight and the only place I can see any sign of a leak is at the elbow and even then I can't decide if it's actually leaking. It's been dry for a few days and the car has been parked up so there isn't really any other way for water to be around that area is there? So a new rad and elbow now join the shopping list. Hopefully this will see the end of my mechanical issues and I can get on with a couple of the upgrades I wanted to get done.

So are the speakers attached to anything or just the grills? How does it sound? -

I like that, did you take pictures as you made them? -
I still need to send mine back, I'll do that tomorrow (meant to do it earlier but I've been on my own at work for a week so haven't had a lunch break to get down the post office).

I guess this breaks all the rules but when they're up for sale I'll take 'em 100%, cash waiting. Desperate for some of these! (Already got the speakers for them!!).
