Help - don't know what to do with my VR :/ NOW PASSED MOT!!!
OllieVR6 replied to timmaaah's topic in General Car Chat
Keep it, get the clutch done, do the rest yourself. There is so much info on this forum and so many helpful people, there's really no reason not to attempt a lot of jobs yourself as long as you have a small selection of spanners. -
I've got JOM they don't seem so bad but I've not been in another C with something else to compare.

I was about to start a new thread and thought I would do a quick search first and this thread popped up! "I'm about to replace my radiator but before I do I've been looking into the idea of using a rad that has a filler neck rather that having an expansion tank. I notice the guys that have 'smooth' bays all do this to delete the header tank. Is it really a viable option? I don't think I've ever had a car without an expansion tank so any advice would be great. Surely if it was a good idea, VW would have done it as standard? I notice on E38 a lot of the Golf VR6 guys are using rads from a Fiat."
-
Cheers Stu, they have already landed on my desk but I'll see how they fit before I go to the exhaust place at the weekend.
-
How is Kev not BaconWick yet?
-
How recently? I've owned the car about 3.5 years but the previous owner lived in that area.

The first 3 responses in this thread are made of win!

Wasn't it listed for 2.5k last week? Looks much more appealing now!
-
Ah yeah it's 150mm: http://www.bmcairfilters.com/carbon-dynamic-airbox/parts_prd_pr3_4_1.aspx "The CDA is available in two versions: the first with an external diameter of 130 mm which is recommended for engines of up to 1600 cc. and the second with an external diameter of 150 mm. for greater displacements."
-
There are two different outside diameters for the generic CDA. I think the correct one has an OD of 135mm but I'll check the website and confirm. I'll pm my email address. Sent from my HTC One X
-
I'm interested!! Can you confirm its correct fitment for VR6? I recently purchased one that's designed for Pics would be great. Sent from my HTC One X

Me!! Sent from my HTC One X
-
That would go nicely with my free bacon sandwich!
-
Does that mean it's cheaper than a re-trim? :smug:
-
I just want to say, I fitted mine at the weekend and for anyone who is even remotely wondering if you should get one. Do it!! It's completely transformed my gear shift from being all vague and sloppy to being tight and precise. Not only did my new shift reduce the throw but it is also much tighter than the one I removed. Dave is doing a great deal here and for £40 you just have to have one. Should have been like this from the factory!
-
:thumbleft: Cheers Dave. Thanks for the quick response! Now I can get 'em ordered, hopefully in time for the weekend.
-
Have I missed something? Is that not a re-trim?
-
Are these suitable for joining a Milltek exhaust? I recently purchased a cat back exhaust second hand and need a couple of clamps. I'll be taking it to a fitter rather than doing it myself, they won't turn their nose up at these will they?
-
Hmm, I want my standard VR wheel done, but it's pretty low on the list of jobs at the mo. How much would a re-trim cost?
-
Erm, I'm here for the bacon. Is there a group buy?
-
Dave, your car is looking ace, love the wheels! Is this rad considered dead? http://the-corrado.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=64533&d=1338327468 Because mine is at least twice as bad as that.....could be what's causing the cooling problem I can't locate!
