Renshaw project (probably going to sell / swap)
OllieVR6 replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in Members Gallery
Well you cant argue with the results but I would have suggested that jumping straight in with some wet sanding was risky. Personally I would have started with a heavy cut polish first...or did you do that? Does Andy have a PTG? -
I would buy one in a second!

...and if you have about 3 hours spare, read this!!! http://www.audiogroupforum.com/csforum/showthread.php?t=66958

Thanks Kev. I know my thread isn't every exciting (probably the lack of pictures!) but hopefully if I keep updating it, people will enjoy it. Old school called today to let me know the windscreen came out it one piece, woop! They said that the rust wasn't too bad and that they are letting the paint dry over night before they refit the screen. Due to work I cant pick it up until Saturday morning, I'm very excited! :bonk:

I don't have any parts that I can offer (I would if I did!) but you have my sympathies! As everyone has already said, scumbags like this should be locked up. I just hope that karma works its magic and they get run over by a car!!
-
Hey man, thanks. I took your advice and checked for rust inside the car, pleased to report, nothing found. I'll need to have a really good look before the interior goes back in but I think I'm safe.

The Irwins should be in any Corrado owners toolkit they are brilliant. The 'standard' pack I think has 5 different sizes in it, I would recommend getting the extra 'add-on' pack to complete the set. Original set: http://goo.gl/mc3CJ Add-ons: http://goo.gl/Pz6SH

Right, I'm dropping the car off at Old School Windscreens in Longcross this evening, so far I am amazed with the customer service, it's so nice to deal with people who care! I sent them an email via their website http://www.oldschoolwindscreens.co.uk/ and arranged to see them yesterday (they were recommended by my neighbor, he works for Jaguar Guildford). I turned up and they were expecting me and actually appeared to be looking forward to seeing the car. The lady had a look at what I had described and in a nutshell said, "no problem we can sort it". The best part is, they had capacity to take the car tomorrow and can turn it around by Thursday! Amazing. The estimates for the work are also excellent and within what I had budgeted but I'll wait until the work has been completed before I comment as it can still get a bit more expensive. She said that they used to do a lot of work on Corrados and we talked briefly about their exclusivity and how parts are getting so expensive despite the value of the car. All in all, very happy at the moment and I'm expecting to be recommending this company for anyone local to me once the car is back!

With me being the exception lol

Ha, I saw that advert and though 'perfect car for a 24V conversion'.

I had a Nixon 'The Rocker' for ages but lost it :( http://uk.nixonnow.com/watches/mens/the-rocker-A370.html So my lovely lady got me this to replace it for Christmas: http://uk.nixonnow.com/watches/mens/the-scout-leather-A480.html I LOVE Nixon watches!

They always say that and yet they are always only 2 feet from your bumper lol! Can't be that hard...

I need at the very least the plastic edges for each side and the black seal that goes all the way around. I'm not sure there is anywhere near me that can provide something like that to original spec. Btw - what's the third part in the kit above? I don't recognise it. In the picture it's in a sideways 'V' shape.

Thanks guys that's very helpful. Don't think I'll be taking the dash out (too soon after the last time) so I'll just cut off the bottom wet half on both sides and then do as Hasan says and just replace the felt part. It doesn't matter if it's it two parts once the carpet and mats are back in.

I thought the golden rule was don't build what you can buy? From what I have seen there are some fantastic VR's in the classifieds at the moment and for the most part at very low prices! I've been tempted myself and I already have a VR!

Has anybody ever used one of these? Are they up to scratch as far as quality and fitment is concerned? Is there a better alternative? http://www.corrado-teile.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p1748_Windshield-Trim-Kit---Corrado.html I'm in the process of getting a windscreen leak fixed and will most likely need all the parts in that kit as (if it doesn't break) the windscreen is being reused rather than replaced to keep costs down. Does that kit have everything in it I need? It looks like it does to me. Thanks, Ollie

My car is soon to have the windscreen leak fixed and so I am making some preparations for its return. I have the carpet out at the moment but I need to remove 2 final bits of sound deadening as they are both wet (and stinky). The first is the large piece behind the dash. I was looking over the weekend and it looks like it requires the dash to come out, is this correct? From what I can tell it is one large piece that covers the whole area from driver to passenger side. The second part is under the centre tunnel. What is the correct way to remove the tunnel? I seem to remember last time I had some trouble with it and nearly broke it! As always, any help is much appreciated!

Not the best first day of Corrado ownership

And that (for everyone who finds this thread through Google) is why this is the single best forum on the internet! -
They do indeed look sick! How do we get them made? lol Why doesn't it have a badge? Someone pinched it?
-
I just stripped my alarm out (wasn't a laser line mind you) and the 'brain' was behind the glove box on top of the heater piping. There was a 2nd smaller box at the bottom between the back of the centre console and the bottom of the bit that changes the direction of the air (sorry don't know the technical word).

You know, I bought a can of the recommended stuff for spraying them red (I haven't done it yet) but actually I think I prefer standard. Normally I hate orange, on my daily I had orange bulbs in a clear case which I swapped for silver bulbs, but on the Corrado I'm starting to think that the standard setup is the best. Any attempt to 'modernise' it, ruins it a bit in my opinion and I'm not even an OEM kinda guy!

Small update: Just got off the phone to local company called Old School Windscreens, very helpful indeed. I've arranged to take the C to them tomorrow (assuming I can get it started tonight...so I need to reattach the fuse box). They are going to assess the leak and let me know what they can do for me. He said he can't guarantee that they can remove the screen without breaking it but it's far more likely if they do it on site rather that at my house. The biggest expense will be if the screen has to be replaced as I've heard they can cost near £500 and he has already told me that he isn't an approved fitter for my insurance company. His rates seem good at £55ph and from talking to him on the phone I already have the confidence that he will do a top job it's also apparent that he works on the basis of doing a good job and regardless of cost. No doubt he will ask tomorrow what my budget is and as always there is a difference between what I can afford and what I would like to spend (as much as it costs to get it done right). Any windscreen fitters here who could estimate the time it would take to remove, refit and repair it?

Could you put me down for a rear number plate trim please, thanks. -
I got some 'Corrado' stitched mats a right-click kit and some Dickies overalls...I'm like a proper amateur mechanic now! Well chuffed!

I'm keeping my list short to attempt to keep it realistic rather than ending up with a wish list: Finish sorting out the wiring Get leaky windscreen fixed and then put the carpet back in Once those bits are done we will see.
