hmmm I think only summer can help with increasing vision these wet & misty days often make it difficult to see the mirror itself out of the window ;) LOL

ahh I see hopefully you can have full confidence in the head then but it sounds odd the head gasket has split in such a short time (assuming it was replaced during the rebuild) -
cracking news about the ABS unit from BBA - please do let us know how you get on with it can I ask if their service took long & what was involved pls?

sounds kinda sensible Jim & I am sure it would probably only play on your mind if you choose not to renew the gasket however, once the head is off will it not be too tempting to have the valve seals renewed - seeing as the head is off I'd say it would be worth refurbing that too sorry I know it would be a case of in for a penny in for a pound lol plus that is how I ended up spending so much on my head refurb as it kept being a case of 'oh well it is apart & being refreshed, lets not put old parts back on & get new ones' -
no problem Kip - just let me know if needed I can take photos etc to send you as well as internal & external dimensions I would say I could send them someone for templating but I would be worried about their transit etc
-
in out, in out, shake it all about Kip;) lol

Possibly she could help Jim We also have Thursdave who works in parts at VW - IIRC he was collating some kind of list of unavailable parts to try to request them I think I am quite happy to get me lenses out the box & take dimensions etc if that helps anyone
-
ha ha mine too guess those genuine hella replacement lenses will stay in the box a while longer lol
-
tidy thank you kindly :)
-
indeed & I guess that is partly why it sold on the weekend :)
-
from recent experience even when you list everything you can find & know of, we are all human & can make a mistake or miss something, 'people' still bl00dy moan when they actually turn up
-
thanks how about the wiper motor cover you have?
-
it didn't meet the reserve then I see

I have those up front in the VR too, very nice match them with some 693.9i's in the rear & the clarity & output is awesome ;)

relay help needed with heated seat loom please .
g0ldf1ng3r replied to robrado974's topic in General Car Chat
same as the late ones but the scroll up the other direction - IE scrolls down to increase heat -
again IIRC they are on the inside of the panel if you put the panel n tilt & then look from inside I think there are 2 on each side, 1 near front & 1 near back this image may help a little as it shows the torx screw http://s44.photobucket.com/user/michaelmcnair/media/sunroof.jpg.html

this link is for a full guide on removing a headliner (just in case you need it) http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5598465-Passat-Moonroof-Swap-amp-Headliner-Removal-DIY-Tutorial

hi m8 IIRC you can remove just the metal sunroof panel by putting the roof into tilt & then there are 2 screws on either side holding the panel on. I don't believe you need to remove the headliner to take off the metal panel

I wonder if the guy who runs http://www.rayneautomotive.co.uk can help I recall seeing heated seat looms for golf's on there & having checked today the golf loom page states 'You will not need any additional relays for this item' http://www.rayneautomotive.co.uk/golf/41-vw-golf-mk4-heated-seat-wiring-loomharness-plug-and-play.html?search_query=heated+seat&results=2&cate= the home page also mentions multi packs for relays are available im off to find his supplier thread on here & drop him a PM EDIT: PM sent to james of rayne automotive -

I too get the occasional buzz from the relay on my drivers side typically it has been quiet all summer & now it is getting colder it has tripped both yesterday & today I have previously tried swapping the drivers & passenger relay over (to see if one was faulty) but the issue persisted I have also changed the switch in the dash to no avail plus I have checked the wiring into the relay controller box is tight/secure - all ok thus I am wondering if it actually is an intermittently faulty relay or if there is a break in the loom wiring feeding its supply the latter I am doubtful of though as I would expect the relay to just not work if there was an issue with the power to it, rather than buzz as if it is flicking between on & off positions however, due to the issue remaining irrespective of which relay it is using I am unsure it is a relay at fault -
yes m8 the sunroof has 4 drains - 2 front & 2 rear if you open the sunroof on full slide they are visible in each corner - if you have access to an air line then just bow them out & then pour a little water into each & watch the respective corner to make sure they drain ok FYI the seal around the sunroof metal top is only really to stem the water flow - water that passes it by design goes into the channel in the sunroof cartridge & then out via the 4 drains mentioned as per my pervious post my issue was caused by someone not refitting the thin plastic cover which sits over the foliage & attaches (well rests on) to the bottom of the windscreen & the bulk head

& a copy of the OP's reply to my post.... Well, had a good look this morning around the scuttle area. The cover that goes over the blower box wasn't fitted under the seal on the ridge bit at all! After a bit of tricky working I got things back as they should and I'm guessing water must have been running straight into that blower box? I may have cracked a bit of the cover trying to get the rusted clips off, so might need to replace later. The crack is on the left hand side and should be ok till I get another one sourced. So, with all that said and done, the fact that it's not coolant been coming into the cockpit and that my hot air isn't working, does that imply that someone has previously bypassed the matrix or may there be another reason why I have no hot air? Thanks and hope all that made sense! Oh and as far as the sunroof working goes - I haven't tried it yet. Will wait a bit just in case something is amiss. Don't fancy the winter here and having to fuss with that!

hi Dr copy of one of my posts from last week on the same subject.... also - again from experience - check the thin plastic square ish shaped housing that covers your foliage cover its is on the passenger side just below the wind screen I had an issue where water was getting into the passenger footwell due to the above housing cover not being refitted correctly & was basically allowing the water to run straight into the open mesh of the foliage cover I would also recommend lifting the passenger carpet up & removing the hard backed liner underneath it. the liner has a cushioning material on it which acts like a sponge. I didn't realise quite how much water it held until I removed it & started to dry it off from...http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?92848-Wet-passenger-footwell/page3 hope that helps
