  1. Just wondering if the mk2 Golf mount needed any modifiying to fit? Or straight change over? Thanks and nice one for sorting your troubles.
  2. Oof, just had some painful reading and pictures on this thread. There must of been some rather nasty ends to some poor people from the looks of some of the cars, so if you're of a delicate nature please don't open the link (don't worry there aren't bodies shown in pics, just your imagination can picture it :pale: ) Drive carefully everyone and don't add to the list of written off Corrado's. There must of been dozens of cars destroyed in various ways. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4640218
  3. I feel really awful now because it was me who bought it! :( Ok I don't feel that awful, it is a Corrado after all :D Although a little more expensive, there is this one for sale at the moment. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/REVELL-1-18-METAL ... 3a55888055 It was the blue one he wanted to get me
  4. Anyone know of where else one can be bought from? Missed the one on ebay. My little 2yr old boy wants to get me one for christmas :help:
  5. Hi mate Good luck with your search for everything once you decide on the setup you want. Remember 312's off an Ibiza are 4 stud and 312's off a mk4 Golf/ TT will be 5 stud. I'm pretty sure any of the calipers you mentioned about won't fit onto 288 discs as they need thicker discs than these are. for example the 323 Cupra discs are 28mm thick and are perfect for bigger Brembo 4 pots (Aston Martin, Cayenne etc), Boxster Brembos fit a 25mm disc such as the 312mm TT. As for carriers, this link might be useful to you-http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180440946918&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT I do know of a very nice man that could have a pair of awesome Aston Martin calipers sometime soon (for sale, edit forgot to put that bit in first time round!) What size wheels do you have/ want to use once the brakes are fitted? This could limit you to disc size. Just do as much research as possible to make life easier for yourself.
  6. Cheers Mart Hopefully they'll prove to be good. If not, once the new discs are bedded in alright, I could always use the part worn Brembo pads that came with the calipers, maybe. Hope you're well mate.
  7. Sure I read somewhere you can't have too much braking. Maybe in this case, you can! Haha.
  8. Ahh I should've read your sig, says 18's, d'oh. Mine were £157 delivered. Came with pads (about 8mm wear left), pad locators and the flexi brake lines still attached. No more than 3 years old and everything in good order on them. Came off an S, so silver in colour. £450 for all that sounds good. Any more detail about them?
  9. Oh and also, unless you can do some trickery with the stud pattern, then I would think you'd struggle to use the discs. My Cayenne rears need to use a Leon Cupra 323mm disc because it works on a 28mm thick disc. This is the only disc I know of thats 28mm and 5x100 stud. Hope it helps.
  10.  Mental braking! Sure I could be corrected but think you would need at least 18's to use these bad boys. The 6 pot is absolutely huge.
  11. I've now bought a set of TRW pads for the Brembo's. The shop told me they are good pads. Has anyone got any experience of using this make pad?
  12. Yep suitably informed! Thats why there's a nice pair of Brembo calipers sat in the kitchen waiting for a couple of parts to arrive before getting fitted by Christmas time. Not even 100% sure about going turbo but couldn't resist getting this brake setup!
  13. Sorry we keep talking brakes in the engine section. But......would people think Porsche Cayenne S Brembo 4 pots with 323 discs a bit more upto the job rather TT 312's? If so, thats ok then!
  14. Probably best not click on the timing chains and clutch artical yet then  Hmmm, ok think I'll give that a miss for a while! Am getting better, I couldn't do anything to a car before the Rado. Since getting it, I've done stuff like stripping the front of the car down, working on the engine and rebuilding everything. Nothing compared to what some of you guys do but I'm pleased with my efforts.
  15. Brilliant, thanks for the help. It is on my VR. The more little jobs I do on it, the more confident I'm feeling towards it.
  16. Hi guys This or next weekend I'll be carrying out an oil, filters change and a general check over to see how things are looking. I've bought all gen VW Synta oil, oil filter, fuel filter and gearbox oil. I'll be doing the service with my brother who is a trained mechanic, so he won't let me go too far wrong! Just wondered if you guys had any little hints and tips to make things go smoother? Please don't say take it to a garage for a service! Haha.
  17. Wow Chris you really do have a brakes fetish! Haha. Wonder how long these would take to bed in Mort? Did you have any fitting hassles mate?
  18. Smart work on the brakes mate. You really are going to town cleaning, tidying and painting bits while your waiting for the paint. Wish I could get the same sort of time to do bits on mine. There's a growing list I've got to do. I've got the handbrake plastic for you but not had a fight with the door to get your doorpin rod out yet.
  19. Exactly the reason why I'm sorting out some Brembo 4 pots before even thinking about going to turbo land. Have you guys uprated the rear brakes as a 'must do' as well then? Guess you can never have too much brakeage! Haha.
  20. Very nice brakeage there! Any issues fitting it all on there Mort? Those discs really fill the wheels up. Can't wait for mine now after seeing yours! Cool work mate. Matt.
  21. My soon to be fitted new calipers are silver from Porsche. Originally I wanted to redo them red but now I've gone off that idea as red is everywhere! Silver looks quite subtle, well as subtle as big brakes can! So I would say any colour but red. Oh and silver, so there's fewer about! Haha.
  22. Wow, looks nice n clean mate. Wish my engine bay was as clean. Yeah this Rado was at Dubs at the Beach this year.
  23. Hi Chris Good news about your bruv getting a good setup. Think I will go with the AP pads especially at well under £50. I don't need to worry about picking up the pad mounting kit, as this is on the calipers already. I've been really lucky buying these calipers as they are in good condition, have pads, mounting kits and the flexi brake lines attached. With fingers crossed, everything should be bolted together by christmas. Its not brake fetish, its brake OCD you've got there mate! Haha.
  24. Phew Chris! I was getting worried there. Amazing how these AM parts fall into your lap, haha. Maybe I was having a madder than Mr McMad moment thinking you might sell your calipers? Any thoughts on those pads I had a price on? I would like something like Ferodo or similar but need to keep a lid on my costs for the mod.
  25. You're not talking about selling the calipers are you? Nooo don't, they're awesome. Is it due to the trouble of getting other parts? What would you have instead? No no no!
