Can see up to 34 if I drive gently on long motorway trips (200 miles at 70-80)... Usually see around 28 though, and 22-25 round town,,, the VR is not designed as a fuel economy town car..
-
Hmmm... make sure you get a decent one though... if its a dog it doesn't matter how cheap you bought it unless you're prepared to plough money back into it to get it back up to scratch..
-
Bear in mind that the speed can vary between cars... mine pops up at 80.... but then its a LHD.. Otherwise the stereo...
-
Pasty.... what was the problem? I've got exactly the same symptom on my passenger side window... press button, faint click.. nothing happens... didn't notice any dimming either, but then the engine was running..
-
hmmm.. I thought they were actually the same colour...just with different names depending on the year... I stand corrected then..
-
Think all FTO's are 2.0 V6... just the tuning/version of the engine that varies..
-
Think they're a quicker on the sprint acceleration due to the quicker gearchanges.. but the VR top end is slightly higher (assuming they've been derestricted...otherwise you shoot past them at 112mph) In terms of official figures, I think the FTO 0-60 is 0.2-0.3 of second quicker, whilst top speed VR wins by 2-4 mph... but then those are just official figures.. which is why I think the FTO will beat you on the 0-60 since the average driver will be able to change gear alot quicker in the FTO

So at least I know the MAF is dead...... If anyone in the Surrey area wants a read-out on Vag-com sometime give me a shout. I don't think its 100% conclusive at detecting dead MAF's (according to other posts on here). Guess I was just lucky Er..yeah could be useful.. where are you? I'm guildford..

Where did they wear out.. is you tracking/camber correct? (though be warned, the VR6's large -ve camber...which results in high wear on the inner edge of the front tyres is also what gives it the handling round corners and helps limit understeer)

Ok all.. its definitely a scam... however its great fun writing to this guy.... here's the latest exchange... in response to my last e-mail he sent: "Hello Alex, As i have told you in previous mail that I am in the Netherland, but i have my Shipping Company in Dubai.I don't think there is a need for that because I am believing everything is in good driving condition. So I will like us finish the transaction before I bring my Shipper to come for the pick-up of the car.I believe all title papers for the cars are intact. Regards, Tony. " This had me laughing... my response was... ""Tony, Thank you for your e-mail. I somewhat confused that you are using a Dubai based shipping company when you are based in the Netherlands:- after all the UK and Holland are only a couple of hours ferry apart and the use of a shipping company (particularly based so far away) seems slightly excessive. I am also very suprised that you are happy to purchase this car without seeing, or even test driving it, expecially given it is a right hand drive vehicle produced for the UK market when you could obtain a far more suitable left hand drive example in Holland, or if not there by a short drive over the border to Germany (and probably cheaper to, once you take the shipping costs into account). All of this however, is nothing compared to the confusion I have at the fact that, although purporting to be in Holland, your IP address is based in Nigeria. I was unaware that this was a distant dutch colony, having believed Nigeria to have gained independence from foreign rule (British I believe) a good many years ago. Perhaps you could help me with my confusion, Best regards, Alex"" I think he'll realise the game is up now a not bother replying... however if he does, I can't wait to see what excuses he'll come up with ......

Hey.. I'm no help, but congrats on a LHD corrado.. I like to get my passenger to read the newspaper in mine whilst I let people overtake me on the motorway and just watch their faces......... Not been stopped and breath tested yet.. but sure they'd ask the passenger before they'd ask me... So much fun can be had in LHD cars (except at the entrances to multistorey car parks :(

Do a google search on UK registrations, you should get one that lets you do this (i found one.. can't remember what it was) The one I wanted was 2 letters, 2 numbers, 3 letters... See if you can guess what it was !

Ok latest news.. no new e-mails, but the webmaster on the site where the Golf is advertised has traced 'Tony's' IP address to Nigeria.. so what we thought all along..

What info do I need to give for someone to make a wire transfer.. and how do I know when the money really is in my account and cannot be withdrawn/cancelled? Your help is really appreciated

Just had a response from someone concerning my Golf which is for sale on the net... question is is this dodgy? Here's my advert: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/detail.asp?i=13810&s=176 And here's the're e-mail.. (anonymised by me) Hello Alex, I saw you have for sale the above named.I am intrested in purchasing it.I intend to pay through wire transfer.I am okay with end price of 1000 pounds. Please get back to me as soon as you get this mail. regards, A few question: Is there anything I should know about wire transfers? And secondly.. someone agreeing to buy before they've seen the car (ok.. they've seen pics) seems a bit too eager..... Maybe he intends to see the car and then do the transfer.. can anyone help me on the wire transfer bit/ any pit falls I should look for? Thanks all, Al.

Hmmm... maybe (given that I live there!)...

Its not a corrado specific problem.. affects all VW's of that era... My corrado is ok (so far.. touch wood).. but my mk2 Golf drives me nuts with this..
