Where is it located??
-
I think it depends largely on whether people want to drive there.. if so I reckon somewhere in the countryside with ample parking to line out lovely cars (not the Bat and Ball Phil!)...... once it warms up somewhere like the Mill in Elstead would be gorgous... ...unfortunately is f'kin cold at the minute Otherwise somewhere central so those people who would drive can stagger to the train station.... is Pews/Piers the bar that used to be called the Powerhouse?

Fair enough

Thinking about this a bit more.. the above is bloody useful for anyone wanting to import a car... mods, is there anywhere we can put this thread where it won't get lost?
-
I bought mine over here...was in imported in '98.... However..I got this from http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topi ... rt+germany off pistonheads.. ""Importing a car from germany is a straight forward business: 1. Buy the car and tell the owner/dealer it is for export 2. Take the car and the Fahrzeugbrief (V5 in English) to the local Rathaus (Local Council), where you will have it de-registered from the German register. 3. Go to an ADAC office (German AA or RAC equivalent broadly speaking) where you buy your export insurance. It works around EUR160 per month (the more you buy the cheaper it is, but it is 3d party only!) 4. Go back to the Rathaus with the insurance papers. You will be issued a temporary registration document with your name and address and vehicle VIN number. You will also be given your temporary registration. 5. Go across the street and buy your number plates, which will have a red stripe with the validity on the right hand side. 6. Drive back to the UK 7. Get an MOT from a "friendly" garage on the VIN number 8. Get insurance from any company that will do LHD/performance cars on the VIN number 9. Go to your local DVLA office with the original Fahrzeugbrief, your temporary document, UK MOT and UK Insurance 10. Pay £25 one off registration fee, your £160 quid in road tax and get your number plates made. 11. Press hard on the Loud Pedal! You have just Imported your car in Britain! ""

Undertaking is not illegal But driving without due care and attention is, so if you do undertake...make sure you do it v. carefully and the driver knows you're there

Yeah.. there's two on my street too... and the other one (not mine) is an auto... how rare is that??? And there's a third that turns up every few weeks..must be a mate of someone who lives here.. Funnily enough until I got mine, there had never been one on my street...

Is a cat bypass a good idea on a '95... won't you fail MOT or am I being dense?
-
Now I know why I bought a Corrado!! (well one reason anyway)

HiAsAKite replied to bigben's topic in General Car Chat
1.1 mk2 Golf (how underpowered... and only a 4 speed box.... never again.. ergh!!) mk2 Gti (we've had some good times together, I still have it..its for sale but it still gives me grin and I'm in no hurry to actually make any real effort to advertise it... something deep down can;t bear to say goodbye to it) Corrado VR6 (my baby!) EDIT: Oh, recently turned 28 -
Sounds to me, insofar as Corrados are concerned, its down to the individual who deals with you, if they are a true vdubber with appreciation for the C,... they will go out their way to help.... otherwise welcome standard VAG customerr care..

Colbornes parts in Guildford (no idea about the actual service dept) are great.. but thats probably because the manager/senior chap is an ex-corrado owner

Just to second whats been said above... on standard suspension and tyre set-up the VR does not understeer as you'd expect a FWD with a 2.9 lump sitting in the front would... the price you pay for this is the negative front wheel camber wears your front tyres out relatively quick... ..still feels like its on rails though.. Not driven a G60 so can't compare the two though..
