M***HPE on the M40 just north of High Wycombe heading south... I sat behind you for a few miles and let you out into the l-hnd lane when all the traffic stopped at the A404 turnoff...

Question is why the above? Over the 3 months I have had my VR the oil consumptions appears to vary enormously between virtually none over 100's of mile trips, to a litre in 5-600 miles.. I'm pretty sure its not my driving style since I don't use my VR for town trips.. just long distance runs (mostly motorway.. anything from 20 miles to 400 miles, the GTi'ss for town stuff)... the only I think of is that since I've topped it up woth different oil types it must be the oil I am using? (currently on the decent Shell Helix stuff.. seems ok on this) Has anyone else noticed the same.. and if so what oil gives the lowest consumption? Thanks.

Like anything else, I guess it depends what you go into..

Does the engine fill the engine bay, is all you can see a manifold with 6 pipes coming out and VR6 DOHC cast into the top of the manifold? If not, its probably not a VR6. -
Nearly bought an 8v GTi... until I test drove it, and then I bought it.. nearly bought a corrado VR6... until I test drove it, and then I bought.... Moral of the story..never test drive nice cars unless you're already prepared to buy it if its up to scratch

MVS is near to the Stoke pub in Guildford, number is 01483 573737, chaps name is Peter. Should warn you though, the reason I use him is because I trust his advice, he doesn't try to flog me stuff I don't need, has delivered on his promises and is completely straight with me. NOT, because there's nowhere cheaper.... You mentioned your existing place "Would recommend Barnett & Small in Farnham, they've always given me good prices (often with discount I think!!) they also had it for a morning to look into the misfire problem OK they didn't find out what was wrong but gave good advice and didn't charge a penny for their time ".. Peter's never failed to find the problem on my golf yet... but I don't know whether he would still charge you labour if couldn't find the problem... you'l have to ask him..
-
Nope... standard speedlines... though you're the second person to comment on them as if they are different...maybe there's a double somewhere following me about.... I bought the car from a place just past Farnham and have been round there a few times so may well have been... no VR6 badges on the car though. Yep hopefully see you Wed... wil be in my mk2 Gti however since I am trying to find a buyer..

Next No-Rice is this Wednesday (12th) I think, I've been using MVS in Guildford... mainly for my mk2 GTi really, changed the engine for etc so I've used him a fair bit over the past 3 years. Not the cheapest maybe but trustworthy, and walking distance from home..which is v. useful! Not sure what he's like with Corrado's yet My C is dark metallic red, K reg, and LHD. Don't know how many LHD C's are in the UK but I only know of one other...so if see a dark red one in LHD its probably me!
-
Sounds harsh mate...hope you get it sorted... who do you use in Guildford? Sure I must have seen you around I some times get the 'hesitancy'/slight misfire problem on my VR, maybe I should look at the HT leads etc..
-
LHD-G60... I drive a LHD VR6 and don't have a problem, with it.... aside from getting past barriers at multi-storeys etc.... If anything, gearchanges with the right hand are more natural (assuming your right handed) Depends on if YOU have a problem, driving LHD over here.. if not, I'd leave it the way it is and just sort the charger out
-
Welcome to Corrado ownership mate!.. all the best putting the engine in.. Edited: oops... posted twice!

How fast have you had out of your standard VR?

I believe that may have been my comment.... -
What Allen key?... how do you manually set back and is it a standard sized allen key that is required or did it come specially with the car?
-
Black L reg VR6 parked next to Guildford train station? You live round the corner from me mate! My cars at the top of the hill
-
Where do you get keys that let the car start once and once only??
-
Just to confirm... German LHD spec VR's didn't come with drilled discs as standard did they??
-
Do drilled brake discs count as mods? And are they likely to impact the premium since if anything they make the car safer?
-
Again, my car before my C' VR6 was a mk2 Gti that had been shagged... spend 4.5K keeping it on the road/bringing it back to its original condition in 3 years.... And just as I'd got all sorted.. I decided to buy a Corrado!.. talk about heart over mind!.. so in my books if it costs less than £600-900 per year to maintain and service.. I'm laughing.........
-
Mine did first time... turned out to be the O2 sensor... now sweet as pie :D
-
Im now a Corrado owning member of society!

I've had mine two weeks..... lets just say I am already considering buying a Road Angel or similar....... -
blue means oil!!! ....... ..if its your cylinder bores that are worn then you could be looking at a new/recon block... (happened to me on a another car!) ....... hopefully it will be the valve guides though..
