Does the noise coincide with movement over bumps in the road? could be the top mount isn't tight or the spring is coming unseated?? Did you fit them yourself or were they fitted for you?? Gavin
-
There is an after-run facility on them but 9 hours later would seem excessive... Which engine are you running? GAvin

Yeah there should be a gap other wise you couldn't turn the wheels. Gavin

Prices are on there I am sure. Darren does lots of business with folk on the forum. Although he may be in Spain on the proceeds. Seriously, check the website and email him. Or PM g-man on here. How come you need a blower then? Does it just need rebuilding or is it forked? Gavin

g-werks.com And welcome to the forum. Gavin :)

Them Bearings don't need running in, the whole point of them is that they run on a film of oil and never touch the crank at all. http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm Join this and read what the fella has to say. He shows some bearings in one of the newsletters that have mega miles on them and others that are totalled after a few miles. Very interesting. Help is what the forum is all about. Gald we have helped you out Gavin

I think it was Jeremy Clarkson that said 'Never trust anyone wearing headgear in a car'. Coffin dodging gits. Was the pizza OK Tom?? Gavin

The closest to a factory manual, the Bentley, doesn't cover the 16V at all. The Golf manual is the one for the engine. As for your faults have a look at the fuel distributor and throttle body. The ISV can also play up, not that it would make it run on 3. Gavin

cheesy, you didn't pick them up in Warrington did you?? Gavin

Tom, get as much of the wiring as possible off the gauges. There are a couple of plugs under the centre console. Disconnect there rather than cut the wiring loom. Gavin

Bad blue cable to-from alternator. Make sure there is no damage on it. It could be earthing out somewhere. Make sure, by removing, the brush pack is seated correctly on to the slip rings in the alternator. 2 small screws near the output lead. There could be some corrosion on the contacts for the diodes. This happened to me on my syncro. No light in my case, therefore no charge and a subsequent flat battery on a wet monday morning. An intermittent contact is a possibilty for you. Gavin

billinjahg60, What's the score with your loom. How many relays etc. If it's only got 1 that'll be in the dip beam I think. Not having a relay for the main beam would account for you having poor lighting. Do us a picture of the loom if you are not sure. My looms have heatshrink tube on them. I don't think my competitors go to the same expense...... Gavin

Old Volkswagen don't die, they just get lower............. I doubt that a std cars suspension would sag by 30 mm, unless a spring broke. I have removed std gear from tons of VWs in my time and none were the same after the new kit was fitted. Most of all my Corrado and that was the Weitec kit with the 'longest' springs. With MK2 Golfs it tends to make a difference as 8v GTIs are taller than, 16vs which are jacked up compared to G60s. A kit that drops an 8V 40mm would have hardly any affect on a G60 when you take into account the factory height. If you are desperate for 40mm, you'll have to get coilovers. Gavin

Tom I have watched several sets go for nearly £50 on ebay. Might be worth getting them anyway if they are cheap enough. Don't forget the pressure sender on the filter mount 17mm and if the oil temp reads to 170 degrees you should get the temp sender too 13mm. Will have a green and black wire on it I sold some on ebay in 2 hours for 35 delivered, clearly too cheap  Don't offer any advice on fitting them like I did, never ending emails from a non-electrician. double   Gavin

With the good bolt done up snugly, knock the duffer out with a hammer and punch. They aren't that tight. Gavin

Need a rocker switch to feed a +ve pulse onto the control lines for the locking. Have a look at the side of the fusebox where the wires come out of the door. You'll pobably see where the alarm is hooked up to the locking system. Gavin

VW would be my guess

Post some pictures of the shells for us to look at. The ones furthest from the oil pump wear the most. On my G60 1 and 2 were well shagged. 3 had been looked at and 4 was std. I could tell from the marks on the bolts that 1,2 and 3 had been disturbed and from the dates on the shells which ones were original. I would be surprised if there was no wear at all. Gavin
