  1. It rocks! You WILL need a faster car  Gavin
  2. 1. Plugs std W6DPO or G40 W5DPO. Some folk like these in modded engines. Check ebay, plenty for £20 plus postage. 2. Dissy cap and rotor from GSF ok. I'd save the money on leads, no gain to be had if they are ok at the moment. 3. Quantum silver is the right stuff. 4. Most will recommend the proper G60 filter. I'll endorse that too. It has a big nut on the bottom so you can undo it with a spanner. 5. GSF ok for that. 6. ditto. 7. I can never remember so I'll let someone else pipe up on antifreeze. 8. PS fluid is not a service item except topping up. I'd leave it. 9. Just be really careful when take the cat off that you don't snag the wires. They can be pricey, not as bad as suffering the hideous fel consumption though. 10. Buy a blue temp sender to keep in the glovebox. 11. Unless your surnae is Branson, put some money away and fix it as it goes wrong. 12. Has the charger been rebuilt?? Gavin
  3. Does it remain off at tickover and come on at 2500 revs? That would point to the high pressure switch. You need to have it checked with a pressure gauge really. I would have the sump off regardless to make sure the pump pickup isn't blocked, this is a common cause of this problem if there isn't a switch issue. Gavin

    AMD?

I think you'll find AMD have moved on to bigger, faster and more expensive cars having seen their ad in a recent magazine. They look all Porsche, Audi and new VW. I have seen a few comments in recent years that they are not so bothered about old motors like ours. Stealth are not that far away from Oxford. Gavin
  5. On ther filter housing, green and black wire. Gavin
  6. Hydraulic clutch on Corrado, assuming thats what you have. The master cylinder may cause this problem. Gavin
  7. The lads at VWP will advise on the seals, I haven't bought any so I don't know which ones. The 1mm is the cross-sectional area of the conductor. You need to compare that with that off the original not the outside diameters. The budget ones would do you. Again quiz the VWP lads. They do have the terminals for those connectors. You could take one out and send it in. Thats what I did. I have used them all now and haven't a scooby what they were. They were about 50p each. Gavin
  8. Steve, I think you want the 4145 4 off, 5962 8 off, maybe 1900 4 off. Also for the end of the rail a 192166 1 off and 192174 2 off and another 1900. Ther are also some rubber seals that you could use instead of the boots. http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.co.u ... ctors.html I think the 1MM cable will be plenty up to the job. Colours to suit, red and black? ref 16 http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.co.u ... ables.html You might want to buy a crimping tool as well if you are feeling flush!! Gavin

    Dumb Question

Tom, I'd replace them all if you have the money. The duff one may just be the first one to go, the others may not be far behind. Gavin
  10. Just take the remains out of the dash and disconnect. Leave it hanging out till the new one shows up. Gavin
  11. Pulling the right fuses from the fusebox would kill everything. I would think taking the switch out would have the same effect. It's not the headlights stuck on, on their own is it? You have a few minutes to reply before I go to bed. gavin
  12. They might have one in stock but they can get them overnight if they haven't. Gavin
  13. I get paid more than the one that questioned me quitting sixth form for Tech. If they had their way, we'd all be sat in grey offices and never see the sun. Working 40/40. 40 hours a week for 40 years and trying to survive on less money in retirement than we couldn't live on when we were working.... Gavin
  14. The basts, I did the one that went back and forth across your telly and you had to drop the thingy onto a base at the bottom. I had loads of Sinclair User mags sad loser  I went to tech to do Computer studies in 1984, the BBC B ruled there. Imagine 20 excited faces when we came in one monday to find 5 1/4 drives hooked up and no tape players! It made loading the games so much quicker........... Asteroids rocked. 10 x=x+1 20 go to 10 is about all I remember. Unbelieveably I still us small amounts of DOS on our In Flight video systems. Mainly to set the date and time, just cos I can. The new blokes can never remember how to. So I let them use windows instead. The 80s, halcyon days, jumpers for goalposts etc etc. Gavin
  15. Most alarms arm themselves when you first re-apply power. If you have ever heard it run since I'd say the immobiliser is ok. Also you say the starter turns but the engine doesn't fire, another indication the immobiliser is ok, IMO. You can just slave in the swiyth to eliminate it quickly. Use a screwdriver to turn it. Your click near the dissy could be the ISV?? Maybe your fuel pump relay is duff? I have seen that a couple of times. They get dry joints in them and fail intermittently. I think you should only need to do the setup once. I would even try just disconnecting the battery and re-connecting it with the ign off. Gavin

    A Thousand Curses

Another chance to sell an odd valve???? Tom, I have a spare set of valves for a 16V in my garage. I also have an inlet can from a KR if you need it. Lastly I have a KR head with a couple of bent valves. There appears to be no other damage, which was why I bought the set of valves. I just haven't had time to build it back up. All will be cheap and as I am from York might be able to deliver on a visit to my mums? Gavin
  17. I'd stick with the KR ECU and hunt down VSAM for it instead. Simpler way to do it IMO. I have the software and can advise on hooking it up. Gavin

    WTF Lights?

Could be a snag with one of the relays sticking on. Rare but it has happened once or twice previously. Try reverting back to the std wiring for a day or two to prove the switch. If thats not it I'll sort you out with a couple of relays or whatever is required to fix things up. Sorry I didn't see this earlier, got BB and using firefox so it looks like I am always on the forum. Let me know how it goes. Assuming your battery isn't dead flat and the alarm switches off, bump it and drive around to charge it up. Gavin

    G60 drivebelt

I am still running a std belt on my Passat, no evidence of slipping to my knowledge. Contact G-Werks. Darren will sell you one if a shorter one is needed. Gavin
  21. Is the alternator connected up properly, in particular the blue sensing wire. Are all the oil pressure sensors connected? One on the side of the head the other on the oil filter housing. Yellow and blue/black wires I think. Gavin
  22. You need the pulley to provide more boost and a chip to inject the right amount of fuel for the additonal air that is going into the cylinders. You could run a chip without a pulley but not the other way round. Raceland had some cheap de-cat pipes. Personally not worth replacing unless the cat is damaged, in which case you could just knock the guts out of it. Which would be free!! Gavin Where abouts are you in Lancashire? I live in Newton le Willows. There is a fair turnout at the CGTI meeting near me. 2nd Sunday of the month.

    Strange Wire

Yeah, still got them. Not fitted many lately cos I don't like the cold  Only dealing with GT really but they have been pretty good IMO. Gavin
  24. Check the vac pipe to the ECU for holes/damage. Does the rev counter drop at all?
