I have the number for the company that have taken over Scorpion if any one wants it. Gavin

Custom exhausts are 300 quid from Blueflame. They did my Golf and my Syncro. Gavin

My mate bought a pukka VW Corrado towbar. Not sure what he is doing with it though. ' It was on ebay cheap, I had to have it!!!' 'Whatever' Don't see why it would be a worse tow car than any other. I think a dolly would be better than a trailer due to there being less weight. Might be an issue if you have an off tho. Gavin

Can we take it you are talking of the 2 pulleys that the alternator drive belt runs over? If the bearings have gone then they will make a noise. Best to replace them both IMO. In the UK they are about £20 each. Gavin

Could the MFA have reset some circuitry or something???? In a word 'no'. You may have disturbed something while looking at the hazard wiring.

I think I saw Slot on Warburton Bridge last night about 5pm. Nice hat!! I was in the Passat Gavin -
Have a look under the wheel arch with the wheel off for the arrow and teh notch on the engine side of the pulley
-
Don't sweat about the relay. Use the mark on the pulley end. I have never used the flywheel ones and, touch wood, haven't broke one yet. Can you do some close ups of the gasket? Gavin
-
You are looking at a couple for hundred for the head fitting. A full remap could do you £500 quid. Gavin
-
Too expensive, I bought my syncro for a grand and a K plate 2 litre GL estate for £460 with 98K on it 2 years ago. Gavin

Get yourself to Halfords in the morning and get a Golf manual. Check it is the workshop one not the service and repair. Basically.......... The 2 cam sprockets each have a circle in them these should point right at each other. I think the Cam cover has an arrow on it which should point to the mark on the cam pulley. With the bottom pulley cover on the notch on the bottom pulley should line up with the arrow on the cover. The rotor arm should point to the plug lead for number cylinder, closest to the cam belt. Have you bought new head bolts? Gavin
-
It should go from the corner of the cam cover to one of the mounting bolts for the coil. Gavin

Every 12 months is well excessive. they should run 2 years even on a 68mm pulley. Gavin

If you remove the number 4 rod, oil will pi$$ out of the crankshaft. You could maybe put some shells on the crank and hold them in place with a jubilee clip? Unplugging the injectors will prolly throw up a load of faults on the ECU. Join the RAC/AA and get it recovered. Pay Andy to throw it back together for you. Gavin

Ben leach is developing a plug n play ECU for the 225 motors. WIll the quaife not go in a G60 box? Or could the bell housing be swap on from any old cable box. ( cheapo Passat) Gavin

Joe, it looks like my mate has most of a 2.9 in his garage complete with head. It did have highish oil consumption which was why he replaced it. He was night flying last night and hasn't called me yet. Gavin

I'd get a cylinder leak down check done to confirm the culprit. I would put money on the valve guides. Whether you rebuild yours engine or buy a secondhand motor, I'd defo rebuild the head with new guides. KR engines are cheap and plentiful, buy another and fettle it before fitment if the bottom end is worn. If the head is bad a head rebuild could be done for 150-200 if you do it yourself. Gavin

I bet schrick would? Failing that I'd be looking up any of the VR drivers in the old slick50 series. Gavin

Joe, I am on the case for helping with option 3. A mate of mine replaced a smokey bottom end. Hopefully it has at least 3 good pistons and a good crank. Gavin

Have a read of the owners manual. You need to set the lock in the correct position to have it work of the central locking. I can't remember if the lock needs to be vertical or horizontal. Anyway, it sounds like yours is in the wrong position. If the lock is seized up then you'll need to have it all in bits to free it off. That'll probably involve having the inside off the hatch and maybe the number plate panel too. Gavin
-
What exactly do you mean mate? Is the central locking not unlocking it or is it that the key doesn't work in the lock but it does release the boot? As most folk have alarms that work the locking remotely, it would only be a concern that the key doesn't operate the lock if you have fitted rear handles. Gavin

changing to a fm oil cooler different hose required?

It just screws into the top of the filter housing. It's about half the length of the std one. -
There is a 4 motion saloon with a duff gearbox on ebay. Stick your motor in that, far easier way to do things. Sell the 2.8 to PhatVR6 he'll find something to stick it in...
