Driveby noise regulations. Gavin

Upping the system pressure will, like flusted says, jack up the equivalent of contro pressure as well. End result, no changes. You can however, chip the ECU of a 9A engine like you would a G60 or VR6. Gavin

Yeah you'll need to drop the rear subframe I think/

How generous is that!!!!!

Impact are a highly respected outfit. They have painted many show cars for Awesome and Dubsport in the past as well as their own. Insurance is just a top fiddle fullstop. I would say get it painted by whoever but don't go mad getting all the bits done. Paintwork cost is all down to the prep. Anything that is going to take time to prepare will jack up the manhours and cost significantly. If you can do any of the work yourself or with help from friends, ie removing and re-fitting trim you could save money there. Best of luck Gavin

Henny for prime minister it is then. Tony, get your coat!!

ref #2, I am more gutted you got a rusty Golf. Although I fully agree with #1.

You have it right Jim, 3 belts total. If thats the case with the WD Jim, I'd go for another belt. Gavin

Aye mate, different roll bars, splits and all kinds of subtle bits n pieces. Tight wad Germans only fitted heated mirrors to that car and keep fit windows!!

'Just' a GTI G60, with a tilting sunroof. I would think it's as easy to fettle than swap over the tunnel and all the other GTI bits into another shell Gavin

At last some decent competition for my syncro. Gavin

When my Passat matrix failed I was doing a ton on a PRIVATE stretch of motorway on my way to work. Luckily I didn't look too much of a fool pulling onto the hard shoulder in a cloud, having shot past a large number of slower vehicles. I just turned on the heated seats and set the heater to cold to stop the steam getting to the screen. If it had happened on an A road instead of a straight bit of motorway it could have been much worse. Funnily enough this was within a mile of where the head gasket failed on my Golf. Just bad luck? I'd say it's worth a letter and stamp. In the early days of the recall, VW were refunding the costs of matrix replacement to folk who had to pay out their own pocket to get their cars fixed. I don't see this as being too different. At least a RHD matrix only costs 38 from GSF. I bought one this afternoon for a mate. A LHD aircon one costs 90 even if you 'know' someone in the right place! Gavin

Chuff , is it the floor that is worst?

Belt dressing will come off pretty quick in my experience. To prove its the belt a few drops of water on the OUTSIDE of the belt will probably cure the noise temporarily, proving it's at fault. If the belt is smooth I'd put money on it being the culprit. Gavin

2nd sunday of the month.. The Hermit pub in Hermatige Green. Not sure if I'll be there but I am off work so might get the opportunity?? Gavin

Have you seen one recently without one??? That goes hand in hand with the chocolate camshafts in Cavaliers and Ashtrays and also the candyfloss cambelts in CVH motors of the same era. I did 28K in 11 months in my 'cough' xr3 without a belt snapping. If only the lottery was running then, I could have got 6 numbers week after week with my luck. :shocked!: Gavin

I meant it in a CO content, mixture setting context which isn't affected by the cat, if I am correct. I still maintain mechanics, on the whole, are lazy. I know I hate having to walk back to my garage to get tools when parked on the drive. gavin

Did you clean out that pipe when you refitted the charger? There is always a bit of oil floating about in there. You would know if it were really bad, there would be a MK3 Escort cloud following you around. Gavin
-
Yes. They turn them round inside a week though. Remove sunday, post monday, could be back in the post again tuesday/wednesday. Fit to car wednesday/thursday. Sorted Gavin

I think theres a how to on http://www.snstuning.com Gavin

There is no one else.......... Send it away. You can split it and have a look inside. Take a few piccys and post them up here. Gavin

That pipe with the green cap is to allow a mechanic to 'sniff' the exhaust from under the bonnet without walking to the back of the car to stick a pipe up the exhaust pipe. If you take the cap off it'll sound like the exhaust is blowing. Gavin

pitstopdevelopments.com still advertise them on the website. Maybe Darren doesn't have time to deal with all the phone advice? Gavin

Dude, I had no idea it was in bad shape. I had to have the passenger side floor welded to get thru its second test. What was the damage due to? Gavin
