  1. Thanks Dave. Happy New Year to everyone.. Gavin
  2. Consider the surface area of the plate, 2mm may not seem much but when you multiply it by 2piRsquared or whatever the formula is (now 36 and left school more than a while ago!) it will be much more. Gavin
  3. You would be better finding a syncro Passat in Canada and getting that IMO. You would have evrything you need except the propshaft. With loads of leftovers to sell and recoup some outlay. Ask on http://www.vwvortex.com Gavin
  4. You need to do some adjusting I suspect. Check that the lever is held on with a clip on the shaft that runs across the car. Common for them to disappear. Gavin

    G60 poor MPG

This sounds like the tickover screw has wound itself out or the throttle not closing properly. Maybe the cable is too tight preventing the microswitch from telling the ECU its closed. High consumrtion could be the blue temp sender or lambda probe too, as I posted earlier in the thread. A split vac hose usually shows up as poor running in general. Gavin

    ABS relays

Yeah looks lower to me. No 'Space to rent' in those arches

    intercooler size

Have a look at Henny jdub thread there must be a picture on there somewhere. Gavin
  8. Get a card and try it. You'll have 6 months to make your mind up, less the minimum payment of 150 a month.
  9. Credit card 0% balance transfer, run it for a month with G60 in a garage laid up somewhere. If it turns out you don't like it, sell it on. At 2500 you must be able to sell for your money back if not more. Easy Gavin
  10. I'll stick my hand up to being a tool snob. Having spent a mint whilst contracting, I still frequent the snap on van at work. You get looked at funny if you have crap tools when connying on aircraft. I do have cheap tools but I buy Snap On whenever I can. They just feel nicer to use. You can get cheap ones on ebay. I bought a box full of gear for 2K last year. I sold off the bodyshop stuff I'd never use to recoup some of the cost. Gavin
  11. Take teh tickover screw out and clean it big itme. I use metal polish to help stop stuff sticking to it afterwards. Set the tickover again by (1800 16V only) disconnecting the red/black wires a the coil, adjust to 950 revs and reconnect the wires. Gavin

    HELP PLEASE!!

Try bumpstarting it. As the engine turns the alternator will provide plenty of juice. It does sound like the starter is taking everything that is available. Gavin
  13. I have a PR3 and PR4 which both can do teh same job. http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.co.u ... -non2.html Gavin
  14. I'd say 48 is cheap really considering the work involved in re-working an existing one. Gavin
  15. Thats the stuff. No you can get the pins, not the male plug that connects to the harness from the ECU. http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.co.u ... -non3.html On this page somewhere. Gavin
  16. It is pretty resistant to heat. If you use heatshrink where possible that would be good. If you hunt round the scrappies there are some wraps for looms on VWs. The connectors on the injectors are used all over. The male one for the end isnt one I have seen at VWP but you can extract the pins from another rail and crimp new pins on. Gavin
  17. Easy job to make a new one. vehicle wiring products seel al the crimps and wire you need. Get one off a digifant anything so you get the connectors, pull it to bits and then rebuild it all with new stuff. Might take a few hours but not an impossible task. Next answer, no I haven't got time to do one for you :) Not forgotten about your headlight connectors, been in work all Christmas. gavin
  18. Take the handle out and check that it is connected. There is a switch in the handle that operates the locking. Gavin
  19. Did you save it as a WMA/MP3 or audio?

    Coils

Prolly a different part number but I don't see why it wouldn't work. You can't use points coils with electronic ignition but assuming they are physically the same and have the same connections it would work. ETKA check would say for sure. Gavin
  21. A mate of mine did a 3 car trackday thing recently. He really hated the 7 as it was a motorbike engined one and he couldn't get his head around the sequential shifting. If youre not a big petrolhead, I'd go for the Elise, they are very quick for a road car considering the low output. It might spoil a good day while you are getting false neutrals and stuff. Certainly they were a match for my Golf G60. I used to do them on the brakes though at Oulton. Then they got me back on the straights. Gavin

    headlight loom

It wouldn't be ethical of me to suggest that. Gavin
  23. Out of all the Yokes I have had the A509 is still my favourite. I agree with Andy about the Michelin Exalto. A top tyre!!!!! £170 ish for 4 at Costco. Pretty long lasting in my opinion. Although 2 trackdays at Elvington saw the fronts thru to the cords. I still got a tenner each for the rears though  Gavin
  24. The lights are crap too. I make a loom for them, they are so bad. The outer lights go off when you go to main beam. You can see into the distance but not close up. My loom keeps the dip on with main beam selected. Defo a step back from the std lights on a Golf. I think they look good though, just would never have any. Gavin
