I am wondering if maybe the closed throttle switch is stuck closed. This is on the Throttle body. Check to see if it clicks when you open the throttle from under the bonnet. A temporary fix MAY be to disconnect the throttle switches altogether and see what happens. The vac hose to the ECU must be 1meter long and fitted to the TOP connection on the TB. Gavin

Time for the internet at work. isn't there a war on? Gavin Mate of Phil Sharpe

MIght this not be the brake fluid level warning too?

Before a fight breaks out, they are £51 by paypal, £50 by cheque/cash. Now shake hands. Gavin

Disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and try again. Gavin

Check what shape the hole in the wheel is. Some are rounded like VW others have a straight taper. Get studs to match the wheels. Gavin

LHD is no biggie in the UK I have run LHD cars for about 5 years now. Nipping past trucks you have to pick your moment but other than that, easy. Car parks can be a bind too. Keep the 'do. Gavin

Yes, the camber will need checking and maybe adjustment anytime the front shocks are disconnected from the hubs. Coliovers are no different to any other strut really. Gavin

Replace in pairs. mk2 shocks may be the same dimension wise but the valving is almost certainly different. gavin

Earth connected? Blown fuse, car or HU? Can you use a volt meter? Probe the wires and see if there is anything there. I have seen HUs that needed to have a switch flicked if they were to be used without an ign live. Gavin

10 Quid for big end bearings int a load of money neither.

You usually connect the red and yellow of the headunit together. Then connect the two of them to the permanent live in the car. The yellow on the HU is often the perm live which keeps the memory alive. The red is the thicker one that the power goes thru. I would be surprised if your 93 doesn't have a proper ign feed from the switch. My 93 Passat does. Gavin

He is talking about the headlight switch, as you have a loom fitted you will be OK. Gavin

I ran my Golf with just a 68mm chip until I got around to fitting the pulley. No extra power but it did feel much smoother. You don't need rebuilds every year with a 68mm unless you are doing mega mileages. 30K. Get the pulley you won't be disappointed. Gavin

Regulators for other VWs are around a tenner. Not sure about a VR as I have never had one. I don't see why it would be different though. Usually held on with a couple of slotted screws. The fact it is intermittent would make me think it could be that the brushes are worn to the limit. A new regulator may do the trick. GSF. As the warning lamp works then the snag lies at the alternator end. Have a look in yellow pages for someone that reconditions them. They will check it out and give you a cheaper fix I am sure. Gavin

Maybe, get yourself some W6DPOs. Cheap on ebay at £20 plus postage. a tenner each off gsf. Gavin

The downpipes should be ok, just unbolt the manifold from it and the head. The downpipe on a 2 litre has no silencer in it so if you disconnect the cat then you can wiggle it more if needed. That picture on Awesomes website is of an 8V manifold and I'll be having words with Jim about that misleading picture tomorrow, when I call in. The 16V one looks pretty much the same though. At the end of the day, how much money do you want to spend??? I might have a manfold in my garage come to think of it. Gavin

The downpipes need the subframe dropping to get them out. The exhaust manifold should come out the top, with the inlet manifold off and the down pipe disconnected.. If you have 4 branch fitted it'll defo need to be dropped. Gavin

I migged up the exhaust manifold on my mates UNO turbo.. It survived over 2 years til he sold the car. He was lucky not to lose the turbo and downpipe onto the road. I ground a big groove into the crack with my angle grinder. Then I turned the mig upto 11:shock (160A): I ran a bead down each side of the crack to close the gap, then filled it in. It was a work of art, I was well chuffed as was my mate as he was £200 quid up. Not ideal as a manifold would be much easier to come by for the Corrado. I wouldn't hesitate to do another though, if access was good enough that I didn't have to remove it first. Gavin

Years ago max power got an extra 20 hp out of a 1900 205 GTI with some splitfire plugs  What they didn't show was the ones they took out that had a gap you could house a family of immigrants in. You could have fitted any new plug and got the same result. Put some std plugs in and spend the rest down the pub or something. Or buy another tank of petrol. Gavin

What about Gwerks or JMR, still a trek but you know you'll get good service. Gavin

Oil and filter, fit K&N if not got one. Everything else can wait til it breaks  Gavin

Gash fcuker  I think Ii'll do that on my MK3, the Supersprint is doing my head in. Luckily the wife drives it most of the time. I have nice custom stainless on the syncro after only 7 days at Blueflame. It does fit nice though. Gavin

Lifting the car a bit definately help as would stiffening your rear shocks.. Maybe the exhaust can be pushed further on, that is another reason they touch, the bend being in the wrong place. Gavin
