Who made the loom? Gavin
-
Could it be the not so famous distributor fault? I had a flat spot like this on my Golf. It did produce 178hp before the dip in power. Gavin

Thanks to Neilg60, GIXXERUK and JBOB for their kind words and custom. :) Gavin
-
Custom usually = $$$$$ I'd say if funds are ltd that a non adjustable kit will be cheapest. With that drop though don't expect any suspension to ride like a Rolls Royce. Gavin
-
Weitec do spring and kits that do that king of thing. They call it keilform in Germany. C&R are the place for that. The std kits have circlip adjustment of the rear ride height so you may get what you want with one of them. If not I am sure that they could get one in for you. Steve Cresswell is the to speak to although I am sure he will have a good reason to try and talk you out of it. Any coil over kit would probably do the same but probably cost more. Gavin

That must have cost some $$$$. Another cash outlet?? -
If it's not turning over, it can only really be the ign switch or the starter motor. The ign switch is a common failure on Corrados. Do a search and read all about it. Gavin

Here's one in Germany. http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 89053&rd=1 Not the same as having a bespoke chip written but for the money worth a go I'd say. Gavin

These valves do fail and reduce the flow thru the matrix to nothing. New ones can be bought from VW for less than 30 quid. Gavin

Make sure you use a new O ring with the thermostat. Its a crap job really access is pretty bad. I usually do jobs like that with teh charger out, you need to move the PS pumptoo if I remember correctly. The little belt is pretty easy to replace, if you don't know when the charegr was last worked on I'd send it to the South Coast for a service. They replace the belt as a matter of course. To do the drive belt you need to de-tension it by removing the damper by the alternator. Again, if I remember right, the PS Pump needs moving toget the belt out/in. Definately a few jobs worth doing at the same time. It might be a good time to replace the water pump if it has done 100K. I had all this with my Golf so I just did preventative replacements on my Passat. Gavin

Bally the loom shouldn't affect the warning light. If I get chance I'll have a look where the feed comes from in the Bentley, I suspect it'll be fed off one of the main beam fuses somehow. Gavin

I doubt it would be the ign amp as a G60, doesn't have one. You have the Hall sender in the dissy which feeds a signal to the ECU. The ECU sees the input and turns on the fuel pump via the fuel pump relay. The ECU fires the injectors as you would expect, it also triggers the coil to output the sparks. Did you have the ECU relay looked at? Fuel pump relays can go the same way, dry joints. Both easy to check and cheap to replace. Last but not least the Hall sender, the easiest way to check, is by replacement. They are expensive but you can get one off any Digifant engined car with a PB engine Passats, Golf, Jettas, probably some others too. You are a bit stuck as it is intermittent, if it is doing it everytime you go out there is every likelihood that it will fail permanently soon. My mates gave a couple of hiccoughs in the outside lane and then failed a week later. It would quit after almost 10 minutes from cold, exactly. He rang me up and I could hear it in the background. All of a sudden it stopped, it had been on 10 mins. He got another from a mate and even though secondhand and much older, it has been running perfect since. Check the ECU relay for dry joints first.. My heart bleeds for you lads and lasses with only one car. As my wife doesn't work I have to pay for everything in our house including taxing, insuring and maintaining 3 cars.         I am on good money but it still grates as only 2 can be on the road at once. Mind you if you tot up the value of all 3 cars, it still comes up to less than Hennys annual engine bill. Going to sound like a Grandad but when I started on the roads it only cost a quid to fill a moped and my first quick car (XR3 in 1987) only held 14 quid from bonedry. The Passat now takes nearly 60 thanks to the latest rise which was a weeks wage when I had the XR3  Gavin fire extinguisher at the ready....

That's right about the bearings. I would fit new for the sake of about 15 quid for both sides. Gavin

Garry, I think they are around £40. Could be wrong tho, bell your local dealer to find out. They are common on most digifant mk2/mk3s of the era. Gavin

I remember my mate buying G60 arches in 1992 and Wolfsburg badges too. I bet many of the forum were still wearing shorts then! Gavin aged 36 and 3/4s

Wasn't his name Anders Rambo. Monster brakes is the thing I remember most about that car. Gavin

Mark Eliot stopped at my house before the York 'Show' in 1997 I think it was. This was after he had his second engine fitted running with nitrous. Not much you could tell him about fettling mk1s and 16Vs. Recently I have seen his mk1 (00E 926 X) at Dubsport, it now looks to be running 4wd. 'Halcyon days, jumpers for goal posts, secretly rolling the ball in dog **** and getting your mate to head it....................' Gavin

You'd find a way of using it I am sure.

The bypassvalves are fitted in the feed and return pipes thru the bulkhead at the back of the engine. There is a 10mm ish pipe between the 2. New ones from VW are about 35 quid. 20 mins to fit and top up the coolant. Gavin

You need to swap top and bottom halves. You only make gains at the top end. With a drop in the mid range. Some people like it others don't. Gavin
