insurance is up soon !how much have the prices gone up ?
mimjed replied to robrado974's topic in Insurance
if i was in charge id make this insurance scam a thing if the past. insure the person, not the vehicle. provided its road legal you can jump in and drive. if you do crash it you need corresponding injuries, so therefore cant pay some muppet to crash it for you! one of the few things in life the yanks have got right. polish points system too! -
well it was like getting blood out of a stone and talking to a brick wall..... but after him telling me several porkies and me telling him i clearly know more about vw's than he does. he agreed to ring vw to confirm what i was saying. he rang back and told me some more porkies! even had the cheek to say i must know more than the vw technicians then, sarcastic twat! i told him he was talking bob, rang vw and they confimed everything i thought, explained the situation to vw and the chap said get him to ring and he would put him straight. diamond geezer! after vw put him straight he finally admitted he didnt know what hes talking about. still didnt want to budge on price though, and said today was a "learning curve" for him. after some less than friendly words about him continuously saying i was lieing to him, he agreed £6400 all in with cambelt and waterpump change at my preferred vw dealer. not a bad result, but much harder work than i would have liked.

hmmm only has one small screw to lock in place to my memory, certainly no need for a hammer!

if youve never changed it you might as well do it anyway. they dont cost alot. theres a wiki on changing them on here. no need to remove the seat though, just lie it flat. bend a small pozi screwdriver and its a 10 min job.

cant claim to be an expert on r32's by any means. so it only does it at night? or randomly? seems the issue is with spark, so id prob be looking at the coil packs/plugs/leads as a starting place. engine management light flashing up at all? as always though with a modern car, plug it in. saves faffing around.

WTF? and they wonder why people cant be bothered with it. ---------- Post added at 08:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:19 PM ---------- while i remember do brentacre still do a forum discount? -
does anyone have a corrado that doesnt break?
mimjed replied to Danny Ess's topic in General Car Chat
confused.com? see what the difference is. corrado's have never been cheap on insurance compared to the majority of motors. but yes, late valvers are pretty good cars and there not slow. -
Lol good man kev. Agree they dont lack on handling, the hot megane thing isnt too shabby in the bends either. Had a wee drag with a 60 plate golf tsi today. They seemed fairly well matched, but hard to be certain as i wasnt expecting the middle age woman to gun it from the lights, nor was i expecting her to cut across my bonnet into my lane when we hit 45 mph. Muppet. Will be on the hunt for another one this week!

Shrick 276/268 have had good things said about them. Newman are good also. Get headwork done at the same time to make the most of it.

Yeah i know what you mean. At a better time i would, mrs is up duff and were buying a new house. Pennies are shy at the mo. I do have some leverage over him and he knows i can cause problems if needs be. Yeah its a bit of a weird deal with him, he works for a car sales place but has his own company too.

fook it, have a bash. might be the next "cats eyes" people are skint.

should have been flagged on the last three, if four years is whats recommended! i dont know what to do, she wants it, but im not being taken for a ride. shes having a vw because i know a fair amount about them and have helpful people like yourselves to double check with. have to see what he says tomorrow i guess. but i dont think he will do alot to rectify the situation if im honest.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201108380242699/sort/priceasc/usedcars/price-from/6000/fuel-type/diesel/colour/blue/price-to/7000/model/golf/make/volkswagen/page/1/radius/20/postcode/le99jh?logcode=p she agreed a slightly lower price. she only put a few hundred down. haggling is what i was intending on doing tomorrow, but he spoke to her instead. we both understand she knows bugger all about cars which is why i told him to speak to me about it. yes, but without a visual inspection of the belt there would be no sure way to know, plus the fact he gave me false information, you cannot do so. i know vw are, its in the link at the top of the page :)

if it looks good i wouldnt care. as long as a car is mechanically sound im pretty happy with it. im sure you would offer a potential buyer the option to have parts re-done at a good price if/when needed. worst case, it can be removed.
-
i imagine its half that, half about the money thats causing the problem of which road to go down. running a sprog/house/cars on one income isnt easy. especially now with cost of living soaring.
-
no she put a deposit down. but nothing major. still would take the car providing he replaces cambelt and waterpump. i believe i can use the sale of goods act against him as it doesnt meet reasonable standards. will be having strong words with him tomorrow and telling him i want to view the car, after this he can then do the work, and at that point we will buy it. bloody women, shes giving me ear ache because im "sticking my nose in." i'll wrap a fookin torque wrench round her head soon

do it. something different! might start a new craze. then you can triple the price and advertise on e38

not going to happen sadly.

its good to have but youre missing the part of reprogramming the ecu with the correct values to actually recognise the higher boost. i looked down this route but struggled to find alot on it. the other way is to use a rally ecu (fitted with 1.5 as standard), there like rocking horse **** though. richard is a memeber on here. i believe you can source them cheaper from bar-tek, but i havent looked for a long time. best option - stick some cams in it and enjoy.

i was half expecting it to get locked, but it is afterall why we drive cars with fast engines. and a bloody nice car at that ;) im not encouraging people to speed, drive within your comfort zone/capabilities. as long as cars go fast, some people that drive them will to. only my 2p though. ---------- Post added at 09:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:25 PM ---------- it will be parked from the 28th of this month so no need to meet me on the tuesday. bad times. one week left of supercharged fun :(
-
tough call. they dont fetch alot of money at the mo, so breaking maybe a better option. not sure youd get alot engine wise, so would need to be in good condition otherwise. mods are mostly what you get half decent money for or just bits and bobs to fix other cars. plus depends how youd feel pulling apart a reliable example of a corrado. just have to sit down and think it through, it is hard work breaking a car too, dont be suckered into thinking its dead simple!!!

few weeks and i can help out. give me a shout if you dont find one before. think they come up on egay now and then.

found birdo a tidy mk5 gt tdi golf (57k). from a trader, all milage checks out etc, she agreed to buying it yesterday. she forgot to ask about cambelt, so i spoke to the bloke today about it. he says it has never been changed. (baring in mind full service history!) he claimed it did not need doing until 60k. i told him there is an age limit on timing belts, he disagreed and said i was talking bob. i asked him to look on the vw website which clearly states 4 years as the age limit for said belt; http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/servicing/fixed-price-servicing he said he would check out what i said, get a price on the job and call me back tomorrow. fair game i thought. found out several hours later hes spoken to birdo and asked her if she wants it doing and that he will do it at trade price. she said yes because i told her it wants doing (meant he needs to do it!). now, im reet fooked off he went behind my back and im even more fooked off that he'd ask her for money. this is a car for over 6k, and has a cambelt 3 years over due. do i have any rights? she didnt ask about warranty either, do traders have to give one or is it optional? we havnt put alot down on deposit so if all goes sour its not a massive problem, but ill be less than happy. sorry for the very long post

Well as youve checked the bottom, you might as well have a butchers at the top mount too. Did you have a good look at the driveshaft itself? Brakes worth looking over too. Just trial abd error til you pinpoint it really.
